Does Executioners Calling Counter Soraka or Not???

Some people say it does, some people say it doesn't, and as someone who plays ADC, I'm getting tired of not knowing whether it does or not exactly.

it does counter raka it's just people don't like to build it. you also normally don't hit raka with it but hit her adc to reduce the healing they receive.

Yes, it reduces any healing done by Soraka on the target you've applied GW to.

My guess is that people may say it's not a great counter because many ADCs will only be able to apply GW to a single target, where Soraka can still put full heals on other targets (not to mention her ult). She also has low enough cooldowns that she can still attempt to spam-heal through the GW.

But IMO, if you're dealing physical damage and against anything with high sustain, be it a healer or sustain tank, GW is a must-have.

I think its fine because usually the entire team should have GW items such as morello or thornmail. Most ap champs are aoe and typical tanks tank everyones damage so it's fine. I always rush Executioners verse raka as draven because it makes her heal not noticible, t1 does it all the time on his stream too

The problem with Grievous wounds is that it only reduces about 40% healing so its roughly reducing it a little less then half, but only particular champions and item 3123 are the only 'reliable' actions to apply it for a longer period of time and not have a 'target must be below X health to work'. summoner 14 is the norm grab to such things but its more of a burst out and 'coupe de grace' grabber to secure a kill at times even if a enemy quickly flashed to get under the turret and escape a trade.

It does not help that only item 3033 is the only thing it can be built into, making it a choice not normally picked since its effectively part of a single build path to make a anti'healing, anti'tank item, which normally both don't really happen unless your facing a champion like DrMundo or of a similar sort, which most people would rather op for item 3036 in that case.

If it had more useful build spread such as builds paths for marksmen to use to counter spastic whore'level healing where some ADCs can go from 10% to 100% health in a instant, then it would be really nice. Sadly the whole balance issue could become a thing soon as certain items are given to much leniency like item 3071 continues to be a dick grab item on a number of Assassins and a number of non-standard marksman, but shredder marksmen builds instead.

Considering the item might as well be a tier 2 doran's in a sense made for only a very very specific situation, you can't really say item 3123 is a effectively useful counter unless you need something to really fk up a early game hyper healer type champion.

You, and many others, severely undervalue being able to spend 800 gold to counter heavy sustain.

bingo, he is the guy that bitches about a ww or aatrox in the game, and asks why they never die.

Can new Gallo activate this effect with his auto attacks? I see red damage numbers and purple.

Zielmann2 votes

It is applied any time you deal physical damage, so yes his autos would apply it. As long as there's any amount of physical damage being dealt, GW will be applied.

If I see a soraka and I get to pick after, I just play sivir, rush item 3123 and item 1083 when i have enough gold, max W and sit back and farm, there's not really much they can do to you after that

it delays your BF powerspike a bit but as long as you push the wave up and play back there's not much they can do against you and you should naturally get a CS advantage and get gold without a problem, and your W will cut the healing of both soraka and the ADC so its a win win all around

I just tell my support to pick a fucking karma, or blitz, or something bursty. Pick my main, Caitlyn and just burst her heals. Lol. Late game it becomes a problem though, which is why I had to make this post.

It's just scary to buy it as a first item. If you come to lane with a executioner's and boots while the opposite comes back with a B.F. sword you could be in for a world of pain.

Not to mention that if you only poke at the ADC; the soraka can wait to use her heal until grievous wounds runs out.

Thanks. I guess I can buy it to confirm. I believe his AA does some physical damage and this would save me a bunch of gold over getting a Morelos's.

I don't think it's needed as a first item, even against a Soraka lane. Remember, flat stats early game are stronger than % stats. Even though GW doesn't itself inflict damage, you could still compare the reduced healing to the extra damage you get from BF compared to EC. I'm pretty sure early in the game, you still get a lot more out of the BF sword. Even Soraka's heals aren't quite strong enough early on to merit rushing the item.

ADCs are, in most cases, going to be safe to finish their first item, and possibly even first two items, before they drop the 800 gold on EC. Then just sit on that and continue with your build as you normally would. It's mostly up to you to gauge when the healing is starting to become oppressive enough that you need to pause whatever you're building and grab EC.

you don't buy it first item, you build some damage then buy it and win.

Yes it is, just build your first item, then buy executioners and sit on it til you need the armor pen. But yes it crushes soraka, and all the healing champs. It reduces healing received by the person you attack, so if the soraka is healing them, they get 60% the healing.

Aimléss1 votes

Woah, this came out of nowhere. I made this post when I was a noob. Now two years later, I definitely know the answer to this now. But thanks I guess XD

Buckeye20021 votes

yeah, but I get lots of people on my team that dont buy this item...the adc needs to, because he can swap targets much easier, but they wont build it, because they need 10 more AD.....so frustrating...….

It doesn't counter her in the way most people think it does.

I'm a Soraka main, and I just never see that item make the difference when people buy it specifically for a healer.

The only thing that scares me as Soraka is a feeding assassin with flash. They ain't got nothing left to lose, so they will suicide for one kill.

Seriously though, GW does hurt, but not so much in the early game.

I see ADCs, especially ones that are losing badly against me and my ADC, spend so much gold on it, and what that's doing is putting you further behind. Telling your jungler or mid laner to gank would be much more effective.

The reason I don't think it hurts early game is because as Soraka, contrary to popular belief, you aren't healing that much. People's mindset about Soraka is stuck in season 5, even into Plat. Late game is when you turn into a healing god, so buying it early is just kinda meh. I guess if your jungler is assisting you a lot, it can tip the balance, but still.

As Soraka you're still putting points into heal first, but what's gonna give the enemy that L is landing your Q+auto attacks and utilizing your silence. Silence is her most powerful ability in my opinion and one people don't watch out for enough because they're so focused on her heals.

I know this is a bad necro, but still topical since I see this question asked a lot.
