Why Are Amumu & Volibear Not Used In pro play?

Now I dont use Amumu but i do use Voli....and I was just looking at something that was interesting.

In the last month across all levels from Bronze up to Challenger....

(32nd) Amumu has a ban rate of only %2.29 compared to (15th) Voli's %15.88 and the highest ban rate of (1) Swain at %69.75

They are the top 3 in win rate for the month...

(1) Swain %54.77 with 190,996 games played (2) Amumu %54.15 with 313,210 games played (3) Voli %53.95 490,572 games played

I see swain used in Pro play....but i never see amumu and voli but across all levels they have very close win rates to Swain even with far more games played. Voli has over double the games played as Swain and is only %0.82 behind him.

Out of the top 20 there are only 6 i do not see used in Pro.....

(2) Amumu (3) Voli (9) Brand ( I see annie used but to me these 2 are almost the same champ...they both sling fire, both have a stun and both do a lot of damage.......but brand is never used and his win rate is higher than Annies) (12) Blitzcrank (13) WuKong (15) Sejuani

Skarner is (8) but i have seen him a couple times.

Why does the Pro level seem to have a very limited pool of champs used even if they do not have high win rates over champs that seem to be wining over half their games when used?

I think it's because Amumu has a predictable clear and he can be abused easily

For Voli I would assume it's because he is reliant on early ganks that can be easily telegraphed if you work as a team.

Voli is a nice champion for ganking lower elos, and he is quite decent up to plat. But if they pick voli you can easily destroy voli with someone like trundle who deals more damage and has more lifesteal. I think warwick may also be able to beat him, I dont know the 100% reason though

Pro level players have a habit of picking OP champions and for w.e reason Nidalee (shittiest jungle out there, you can argue otherwise but she is).

Yeah its weird...I see Nidalee a lot in Pro play....but out of 131 champions...right now she is ranked 125th in win rate at %45.89........and even weirder is i see Ryze either picked or banned almost every game and he is dead last in win rate at 131 with a win rate of %43.90

They think nidalee is OP because of her "Wave clear" speed and mana-less option and her spears. Nidalees spears are her main damage form, but 1 v 1, almost any jungler is going to wreck this person. Nidalees spears are skill shots that take a significant amount of time to land and u can easily dodge them by getting closer to her. Its pretty easy to kill nidalee with any champion.

They have better positioning and communication. It's also probably why Nocturne isn't used much in pro play (Voice chat ruins his ult).

amumu was used in an lck match and absolutely dominated. one match.

why aren't they used well its easy to play around them when you have map awarness. all these champions that really benefit from being in fog of war and bushes and then come at you and start a fight are weak in pro play. what does voli do? he comes from the back bush and ganks you to hell. amumu well he flashes in a team fight out of vision and ults your team. the pro teams ward so much its really hard for them to do anything.

Maybe i just play him different....i usually just run in from the river and flash flip them then E to slow them. I rarely come down the lane and sidein those bushes. I just want to see my bear used 1 time and ill be happy.

well its not just vision pro teams are really good at positioning they usually have one side of the river completely controlled by that lane and the enemy can't gank from there. and they usually stay close to that side if you gank that just run up river easily and if you follow you will get collapsed on.

Amumu is extremely easy to play around with a coordinated team and volibear because he can be kited into oblivion

Amumu gets mercilessly counterjungled at high levels of play and even more so by coordinated teams. If Amumu does somehow safely reach late game, coordinated teams won't clump up and give him easy ults, and playing on 0 ping makes it rather easy to avoid his Q.

Volibear LCS teams draft well balanced team comps that have plenty of CC and disengage. Challenger tier ADC's are also incredibly good at kiting and WILL build item 3033 every game against Voli.
