They're fucking up the game and making it snowbally as fuck and shoving that "league is a team game" down our throats to the point individual play matters so little because... here's the big kicker... they're gonna try to hit us up with dynamic Q one more time! LOL That's the only reason why someone would do this intentionally to their game. The more I play, the more I see that I win or lose just based on if my team is better or not. I can play consistently all I want, but it doesn't matter if my team is worse than theirs. I can gank every lane all I want, but if my bot/mid/whatever is worse than theirs, then we just lose in champ select.

hoo boy dynamic Q, what a scenario that was

Wild Geese4 votes

Nah, they're doing it because "professional" players can't figure out how to end games.

Dynami...Flex Queue is/was a joke and if they ever try to re-implement it as the sole way to play League they will lose a very significant portion of their playerbase.

Dynamic Queue was literally the worst thing Riot has ever tried to implement into the game and was hated by nearly everyone. There's no way Riot is stupid enough to try to walk down that road again, especially so soon after it crashed and burned

SaltyToplaneGoat2 votes

Oh do not underestimate the stupidity or designers/high level corporate people in large meetings. Especially when one guy has that one concept as "his thing" that he totally needs to push, because everything else would be ultimate dishonor.

Dynamic Queue always had ONE economical goal: appeal to the casual playerbase. It makes no sense to focus on devout fans and longtime-players - those have already spent their money on skins and what not, and chances that they buy a new skin are lower because of "well i could buy it but I already got one for this champ so... nah".

But completly fresh players that drag their friends into it, who posess almost no skins and have a wallet untouched by Riot yet... I can see how some guys on the company start drooling at that thought.

The whole thing just has major flaws: given how hard league has blown up, there are limits to growth. Everyone who once got interested in the game has downloaded and played it, and they either stuck or left. The amount of completly "new" people you could bring in is abyssimally low when compared to games with normal reach/popularity.

And the second issue: in the long run this will fuck over the game and the competitive integrity to the point where people just pack their bags and leave, and once the newly acquired casuals wander off to a new game, you might have generated short term profits, but lost players in total, which I guess is what already happened, because Riot not releasing any numbers on the active players is kinda sketchy if you ask me.

But chances are on the high decision-making level no one has learned a darn thing and the premise of potential profit is too alluring to not fuck up everything...

Slythion1 votes

If I remember correctly, Dynamic Queue was Riot Lyte's "thing" and he no longer works at Riot, so I don't believe we have to worry about a singular higher-up pushing this idea because the person who devoted his time to it isn't around anymore.

,,,,,,Then OP, what do you suggest?

This is indeed a team game, what happens currently is that one or two lanes snowball and then oppress enemy lanes with their lead, so the other team "loses" because they cant do anything about enemy lanes being fed.

But......as i see it there is no way to possibly counteract this.......because if they couldnt take control of the game with their leads when playing equally well as the enemy team or better then doesnt individuals become entirely powerless? People would go insane with anger.

But reversely, if a individual becomes too powerful then we are back to release Xin zhao who seriously runs in 1v4 and wins, or Annie flashing forward with ulti and basically deleting an entire team by herself.

People hated those kinds of things so much that the forums were drowned in endless rant posts demanding change so that a single player could not take over even if their team went half AFK.

Now we sit at a point where a player doesnt straight up takeover, they just move around and slowly takeover the map using their lead by rotating and going after objectives, a small lead is gradually grown into a massive one instead of being massive after 3-4 minutes after it got started.

And if relating to what you described......yeah if your midlane and botlane straight up loses in skills then 3 enemy players are fed,........if those 3 cant win if they are playing well then going back to what i wrote before wouldnt we have a shitstorm worse than ever going on here?

OP....i suggest you sit down and think on the balance between teamplay and solo play.....because quite frankly i believe its impossible to maintain the possibility of a solocarry while maintaining the strength of teamplay......for in order for one person to be able to be so strong that they by themselves can takeover then they have to be more than equal to 3 enemy players----

I am fairly sure there isnt anyone who wants that kinda power to be easily accessible, people are already on the thought that damage is too high and tanks are impossible to kill without some specialized setups, people dont want any more extremes.

Madsin252 votes

I suggest we lower the damage across the board. Nerf electrocute nerf comet nerf conqueror nerf press the attack ect.

People get a lead and then just go around one shotting everyone because damage creep is so insane.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Aside from when something like an assassin or crit marksman getting fed i usually see people just get insanely difficult to kill rather than doing oneshots.

Tanks, juggernauts and tanky divers get impossible to kill, and they will just go after their target of choice and sit ontop of them until they die, mages will poke from miles away to devastating effect while promising a instant 60% health loss even to a juggernaut if they get too close.

Some tanks like Seju when fed becomes able to dive in 1v5 and soak damage without any problem for 7-8 seconds before their normal healthbars are even affected between passive and stoneplate.

Support gets fed? It either results in endless CC, endless heals/barriers or some like Alistar just becoming impossible to kill and diving everywhere.

its just some of the marksmen and the assassins doing the oneshots, as well as some divers, but those doesnt happen until like 4-5,0-1,0 stats go through most of the time.

I honestly think that the only type of damage users that has risen too much are the rageblade users, they are often lategame champs that somehow seem to scale extremely fast when they get the item becoming gods of DPS melting anyone who cant instakill them in seconds.

Cut down on that a bit and things should be fine for the most part......if ignoring static shiv and overbuffed Kai sa

My theory is the game is done catering to its casual playerbase and is putting its eggs in the esports basket. If successful, the game can subsist without a single skin sale simply from existing as a popular e-sport.

Riot has learned it is -impossible-, full stop, to balance a game this complex for both the lowest AND the highest common denominator. They are right, it is impossible to do at this point.

That's my opinion. That's where i imagine they go when they face a torrent of hate for the latest rework that focuses on teamplay or whatever buzz word they throw out.

They do not need their players if they have their athletes, sponsorships, etc. The player base is a bunch of whiny unreliable children who may or may not spend money on skins or whatever else, not compared to what can be had if they ever manage a stable professional scene.

You don't balance around a certain group of Players. You balance the Champions around the Game itself.

I think this would be the correct way to do things. Make every champion feel like they are picked for a reason, even if that reason is just to counter champion x or to combo with this team comp you are running. Right now Riot is a security guard with a nightstick swinging full force at champions knees breaking them without any regard, but they should just buff other champions to be a bit stronger. That way you have many champs to choose from because they are good picks rather than 3 adcs to choose from because the rest have broken legs.

TurtleMari2 votes

Every Champion should be viable and have their own strengths and weaknesses. Instead of having that, we have some Champions being picked all the time while others would not even be able to compete if they were to start with a lead of 1000 Gold (thats what it feels like to me).

Dynamic Q was the most universally hated thing Riot ever did. I don't think they would be stupid enough to bring it back. Also they did say they're going to be increasing individual player impact somehow, but at this point it could just be a total lie. I dunno.

They've had 3 months (or is it technically 4?) to figure out snowballing is the problem and they are just now starting think maybe its a problem? That doesn't inspire confidence. The game feels like to total shit if your losing and it FUCKING OBVIOUS TO ANYONE THAT PLAYS THE GODDAMN GAME! I'd be fine with the whole everything does a million damage and is as lethal as COD:MW on hardcore (shot ya in the foot with a pistol you're dead!) if comebacks were a thing, but they aren't.

RIot has shit down our throats, and we've been telling them this for months. Honestly fuck them all. If I had a better comp and wasn't addicted to this bullshit game I'd be gone. But even that won't keep me prisoner to this game for long if this keeps up.

I think their plan was to remove team gold from shutdowns as an initial measure to increase individual impact. They plan to do that and see how that goes.

I have another theory: It's because Tencent is in China, and China is a dictatorial Communist country, and Tencent wants to make us okay with that for when China takes over the world.

I haven't played League or games in general for 3 months. Games are just circlejerks of other greatgames. League is becoming or has become an echo chamber, Community feedback will never be listened to unless it's changes made by the balance team. "This season we're buffing damage!" - You either get "OMFG RIOT YASS LUV U" or "Damage creep is impacting the level of play in all elos, when will we see a fix for this?" The latter gets downvoted with "NO U DON UNDASTANZ RIT0 GAEM FULOFOZIES xDDDDDDD"

This game is an echo chamber and a shadow of it's former glory. People play this game, because it is their life support. They have nothing better else going on than feeding their frail conscience believing that someday they can go pro, be a streamer, or finally shave that neckbeard. The world is their oyster! Tomoe Gozen1 votes

Oh right OP, i forgot that players like you don't actually read about the changes on the PBE, like ever. The only thing that you use the boards for is to vent when you lose a game and always manage to blame it on some external factor that's clearly never in your control. This is becoming the norm when it comes to the boards.

[zombie-nunu-bummed]

This argument is getting more stupid, the more i hear about it. If the enemy team is winning, then it clearly means that they have more people who are doing something right. If you're the only one in your team who "contributes meaningfully", your contributions matter but not to an extent where you'd suddenly be able to see the enemy team struggle to make ends meet because of your, oh so stellar performance.

I guess that this depends on the role (it's maybe easier for the damage dealers to contribute meaningfully than the rest of the roles) but that all pales in comparison when you think that the entire win chance of the enemy team should drop to near 0 when you do some things right. It's like everyone is literally ignoring that you're playing a 5v5 game, where the winning team is the team that makes the least amount of mistakes.

I actually thought that dynamic queue was the right direction.

This is a team game and you are only as strong as your weakest player. So the goal is to find people that like synergize with and then go hard or go home.
