Suggestion for MANA overhaul
Right now abilities cost spells. Simple.
After overhaul Mana is used as a multiplier for spell strenght.
Each ability consumes mana, but can be casted even with insufficient mana. Damage of spells depend on % of mana pool champion has (numbers are only an EXAMPLE!):
*100%-80% mana = spell deals 120% dmg
*79-50% = spell deals 100% dmg
*49-25 = spell deals 75% dmg
*24-0% = spell deals only 50% dmg
What does it mean: Mages can spam spells, BUT, the quality of spells (it's damage) varies on players skill on preserving mana.
With this change abilities that deal %dmg or are extremaly spammable or are utility only (example: veigars cage) or items/talents that deal bonus damage (example: liandry) would also have to be affected in some way. I doubt anyone would like to play against Ziggs even if his bombs dealt only 50% of damage, but that is something for brainstorm-department to think of. I'm just tossing an idea.
I believe this will be better, because now mages will never become totally useless if they run out of mana. Yeah, their spells will not be as dangerous, but mages will have something to do other than observing how the teamfight goes with them being totally dry.
Also this mana overhaul would give riot a chance to redefine mana-pasives (like nunus/lissandras/veigars)
