Meditate (W) Cooldown lowered from 35 to 25 Healing per second lowered from 30/50/70/90/110 to [20 - 80] [Removed] No longer amplifies healing based on missing health [New Effect] If full channel succeeds, next 3 attacks restore [30 - 50 (+20% bonus AD)] health and reduce the remaining cooldown of his other abilities by 1 second

Lemme explain why it's a nerf:

  • In terms of jungle sustain, for time reasons W rarely (have the luxury to) full-channels after you've done your first clear in the game (in fact I'd wager after this "buff" Yi probably won't even survive his first clear given he already has a pretty hard time doing it. But we'll see), and obviously you won't need it in later stages of the game too, so the new effect is completely void here. Hence nerfing heal per second and removing heal amp based on missing HP is a nerf here because it basically just takes away (some pretty big) stuff without adding anything in this respect.
  • In terms of combat, because W would then require full-channel to access its bonus effects, which again you 90% of the time WON'T have the luxury to fully channel it in the middle of combat, it renders the "buff" completely inaccessible and only makes it a (pretty darn big) nerf just like the above.

Well yes, you do get to use it more often, but then again, what difference does it make? If I have a spell that does damage of a pitiful 1 every cast but can cast every 0.1 seconds, it will be fast as all hell, but it still won't make the damn thing good.

Therefore it's a ""buff"" in the same vein that they buff something but compensate if far more than they've buffed the damn thing, and leaving the thing in a state worse than before the supposed ""buff"". Rings any bell? It's just like the recent tower ""buff"".

Yi is already one of THE worst champs in the game, what even went on Riot's mind to add a compensation to his buff is way beyond me, and worse, they actually thought having the compensation to be far greater than the buff to be legitimately and logically sound.

As it stands now the winrate of master Yi has reduced from 47% to 44%.

He is not among the top three WORST junglers in game. These "buffs" on the PBE are not going to save him from this.

It's a nerf. Simple as that

Hi Riot, I usually try to avoid talking about patch changes and such because, for the most part, I'm somewhat fine with them but the fact that I am elated that a long awaited (2 years) "YI Buff" may not ship has me worrried.

Yi has a linear kit, he is not an assassin, he has no escapes as soon as he dives into a fight and in the past he has always been nerfed based on the items he used at the time (Sated Devourer, old steraks, old guinsoo's) and since then these items have been either nerfed or removed. He is not the fast wuju bladesman you may think him to be because his R only gives him an illusion of speed where most champions can out run him with only completed boots and/or ghost. The proposed meditate changes are not very inviting as the actual heal part of the meditate has been nerfed and it is not encouraging to use in the middle of a fight and even then, having to fully channel it to have access to some bonus AD? Every second matters in a game, it would be more beneficial to use the meditate before I want to do any damage because most players (not just YI mains) are not gonna wait in one place in hopes that the opposing team neither:

CC him out of the meditate ( thereby making it very difficult for YI to have access to the bonus AD in the middle of a fight ), -runs away ( thereby which will make the player either stop meditating early so as not allow the enemy escape or not be able to do anything in the first place ) Kills him ( Because with the lowered healing on his W now and champions being able to tons of damage can do that )

The good part of the changes are the lowered cooldowns on his W and lowered mana cost on his Q (was much needed)

I'm a YI main (if you haven't picked up on that yet) so it pains me that I can't use my favorite champion to climb in ranked or play in normals like I used to because all the odds are stacked up against me. I feel though that if you wanna change a champion like as in need of a change like YI at least work with some high elo YI mains and get in game live feedback from the community to know what he needs and not just leaving it in the hands of someone who most likely neither mains nor plays the champion in question.

I am not hating on the Balance team because they do a lot of good work but I've been looking for an open discussion forum about this and found none and I would like to be able play YI very soon instead of having my playrate decline to the point where I leave league completely because the champion I love has been ruined (RIP Old Fiora mains).

Pretty much the reason why Yi got nerfed because the Sated/Rageblade/Sterak build. Now with these items gone/reworked they should just revert the E and R changes
