Have chosen fill for the last 20 or so games and got 100% support

While this isn't a too big of a surprise it still shows how redundant the fill option is and how it either should just be removed or see an update to weight the other roles heavier than support. While fill does mean that I am willing to play any role, it should not only be support, because there is already an option for that.

Meh. I got mid twice in a row while having support as my primary.

What would be great is if Riot released some real stats on role assignments.

I did too, was a strange feeling. Thought perhaps there was a bug :-P.

While fill does mean that I am willing to play any role,

It also means that you're willing to play the needed role for a given game, not just any role.

I hate to say it, but it means "fill," not "random." It's going to be heavily slanted due to... well, if you played the old team builder you knew there was a difference in queues times.

I wouldn't mind roles being weighted via primary/secondary, so say you queued as mid/support you would get mid at least 60% of the time even if the queue was longer, but if you set "fill" you're probably going to get support and that's... working as intended, unfortunately for those who actually do want variation. If you really don't want to support all the time, just rotate your secondary and pick mid/top/adc/jungle randomly.

I am aware that it does not mean random, but if you only ever get support, then it is not needed as an option.

There are times when fill is useful for non-support roles, particularly premades when one of your friends put support as primary but you're willing to fill any of the other four roles.

It's not really Riot's fault most fill players get support (although there are things they could do to help alleviate it a bit), it's just that... it's not exactly the most popular role. Do you really think the system coincidentally put fill players as support, and do you really think that this could have been easily been mid instead?

I've played on team builder. I remember taking two seconds to queue as a support, and waiting up to twenty minutes for a support to join my team. It's not a coincidence.

While true that in premades fill acts more of a place holder, if you are not in one it fails to function like that. Understanding the popularity of support to other roles, it still frustrates me that there isn't something to account for this.

They mentioned that before, like maybe an IP bonus for support players in some article they wrote about dynamic queue, but nothing yet.

If it were up to me, I'd just add a random function so you could choose to fill or randomize your secondary instead. A bandaid fix, I suppose. Or maybe letting us have a checkbox so people could choose three or four roles instead of two or fill.

I like the check box option, and a random role would be nice. maybe make a separate post about that.
