Now i know why silver players insist on cait being "OP"

I just happened to play a game as Cait in a silver elo game and oh my god...

They actually walk INTO the visible traps!

Like legit, i would place a trap a few teemos behind them (to make them walk around and gain some zone control) and they wouldnt even try to walk around it, they would walk straight into it, i would place another one and then they would do that AGAIN, over and over, it was basically like my traps were targeted nukes lol.

Its mind boggling, you'd think after the first time they would stop actively trying to step on them, later on their blitz just keept running at them to "clear" them while im near with 4 items so i just headshot then do a net aa trap aa combo and kill him lmao.

Basically this is a psa for the players in the lower brackets, traps are bad for your health DONT WALK INTO THEM! If i a cait places a trap right under her dont mindlessly use your gap closer on her, walk from a different angle, traps are made to be avoided not tanked, unless the cait isnt near to auto you.

Cait is oppressive, especially with her traps. If you think silvers are the only one that consider her OP, you're mistaken.

Shes not when you actually learn how to play bot lane and the game.

And yes, other than a few biased bruiser players pretty much anyone that complains about cait here is gold or below because they think traps are meant to be tanked.

You must not see what happens when people like DL and QT pick Cait then... she may not be the BEST in competitive, but she's still hella strong in soloQ.

Because they have to be tanked when she starts using them to clog up an entire lane.

When possible, you try to avoid them.

Obviously, if she makes it so there's no way to avoid them with a blink of some sort, you have to tank it.

i dont know about that but I usually get chunked to death when the enemy support cc's me and the cait drops the trap pretty much on top of me during the cc duration allowing it to prime.

Thats a lane synergy, you just have to play around it, cait traps are only relaible in combat if shes laning with someone with considerable hard CC (like morg), and then again you can just dodge the morg Q and cait cant trap you in a fight unless you walk into it.

You know, like lucian can proc braum passive very quickly, or like rakan and xayah gets bonuses together, or like how well kogmaw is with lulu or other peel supports.

The only problem I have with Cait is when she is with an oppressive support. I have pretty good win rate against every bottom lane except Zyra and Cait. There is absolutely nothing you can do against a Zyra/Cait bottom lane. Cait places a bunch of traps in front of your tower, Zyra places a bunch of plants on top of the traps, then it is gg bot lane with plants that can't be stepped on. When Zyra shoots out 4 plants right in front of your tower, you can't even last hit. The whole time this is going on, Cait can freely poke you while you are under tower and never take tower aggro because her auto range is almost as big as the tower's. You then have to go back and heal up while missing out on CS and most of the time your tower goes down the second you leave it because it is already at half health from constantly being poked at from a mile away by Cait's auto attacks.

This all wouldn't be a problem if they weren't immune to ganks. There is no jungler I can think of who can gank a Zyra/Cait lane early game and not just feed them a kill. Zyra has been standing in the same area for the entire game which is right in front of your tower so she has max plants and Cait traps are everywhere. Not to mention that the bottom lane is most likely in a permanent state of 1/2 health or less so the gank isn't going to work anyways.

Zyra makes even jinx look oppressive, there is a reason nobody likes playing against any zyra + anything lane.

yeah i understand that much and thank god the chaotic nature of soloqueue rendering lane synergy to a huge dice roll. Often times I just find myself raging internally from the zone control created by the traps, especially if the traps are dispersed around the minion waves which increases the probability of getting hit by support cc and by that time Cait will probably have a trap recharged just in time to put one on me as soon as the support cc ends.

I know right? Ive been saying this the whole time

Their effectiveness directly correlates with how bad the enemy is

Basically if you think theyre OP youre bad

Truly not Gay4 votes

Just so you know, if you place a trap behind someone with a large model, they can't see the trap. Alistar and Blitzcrank specifically come to mind. The fact that Cait can place traps behind the models of other things and have them be completely covered up isn't fair. If you place a trap behind a tower, it can't be seen. If you place it under a stationary siege minion, it can't be seen. As I already stated, if you are playing on blue side as Cait and are pushed up towards the enemy tower, you can place a trap behind someone as they walk back towards tower and they will never see it.

I find this insulting to Silver players.

I as one have never walked willingly into a trap unless it's to disarm it when Cait already left.

As a Caitlyn main i relate to this on an emotional level. Upvoted, spread awareness.

If they're dumb enough to walk into traps, do you really think they're clever enough to take constructive criticism?

I still don't think her headshots need an additional [30 / 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 + 70% AD] physical damage tacked on when someone steps on a trap.

Isn't it enough already that the trap roots you for 2 seconds and lets Cait auto you from 1300 range away, as well as making you take full damage from Peacemaker even if it pierces?

Math: If Cait has just an Infinity Edge and crits you with a trap-boosted Headshot, it does 395% AD physical damage.

AFilthyCaitMain1 votes

and Cait only gets to about 250ish ad. 250*3.95= 987.5

not including other factors like more crit, armor, etc

The Lost Marbles1 votes

It's probably not really as bad as I think it is, though. Just an intimidatingly high AD ratio, like a super long range Draven axe.

I don't think the traps should root for 2 seconds at all ranks, though. Even 1.6 / 1.7 / 1.8 / 1.9 / 2 seconds on the root would make her early-game traps feel a bit less annoying.

Yeah Cait placing a load of traps and zoning you from an inhib turret when sieging/being sieged against while being a lane bully while having long af range while also scaling hard is such good champ design right! Ah blast them boosted LCS players who pick her and do this. She must just be against morons in LCS too right :)?

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

Funny post, but I'm a low Elo player who sometimes plays Cait, and my fellow Bronzie Sisters and Brothers seem to avoid them okay. Of course the step on them from time to time, but not like you described.

Dukues1 votes

can't she put traps under ones turret and you can't destroy them? Or did they change that recently? Because obviously that is super fair...... She is a lane bully doesn't matter your elo. I think people get more upset that the only way to get rid of her traps is to walk into them.
