It's because people think he's OP, so a lot of people play him. Because more people play him, it means less Ryze mains play him. The lack of skill in the pool of Ryze players means he loses more and the winrate goes down.

Conversely, champions with low playrates have high winrates because they're played primarily by dedicated mains.

BS, Ryze is overnerfed to a point where you have to be a fucking god with him, ONLY mains play him right now.

He is straight up gutted because he cannot be balanced, his kit is too strong, and when his numbers are strong, he is overwhelming, look at Rek'Sai, her numbers where nerfed multiple times and she still saw some play due to her kit being just too good. Ryze is the same, needing ANOTHER rework, where Riot Games finally pulls out a decent champion with a kit thats not too busted like it is right now.

hmm.. Not sure how good ryze is. His ult is horrible for soloQ though in the hands of anyone but a duo or premade in normal games. The moment you see a ryze ult just aim and get ready for fire and collect your free gold as usually 1/2 the people don't trust the ult and don't get on and the other half die when they do. I know Azir is still pretty strong if you're good at him I'd say almost on par with a good Orianna despite his low winrate.
