His q has a cast time, even though it's short, it'll be enough to cc him, or if he need's to aa too, unless they planned to ult, then ult back right away, and then land his q + e from the back lines with the shadow he switched, that's harder to do.

you can cancel the animation when you pRess R again

You can also cancel it with an E animation, which can be cancelled with both R and Hydra, Hydra can also be cancelled with R.

I think there may be a problem here.

yea and remember what happened to kha zix when he could proc his passive with his W and stop his W Animation with Q while flying and did all his burst in less then 1.5 sec

Oh yea and one more thing, zed would always appear from the far side of his previous position, so it shouldn't be that hard to predict where he'll appear, can you not just time it?

Most CC has the same 0.25 second cast time. Except they usually have a projectile with travel time, even if you're right next to him it takes some time to reach him - assuming he doesn't move around during the cast, which his Q is one of the few spells which is able to do that. Also Zed can cancel his start-up animation with his instant damage E, but supports can't really cancel CC with cast time into instant CC.

I don't understand where all this "healthiest assassin" shtick comes from. He bursts you in half a second like any other, only difference is he has a point blank skillshot that may or may not matter depending on how many kills he has.

yea and don't forget that he has his W against skillshot

I think he's considered healthy because he doesn't do that unless he's fed, which unfortunately always happens because he's a strong laner. As far as assassins go his ult has more counterplay than most, i feel like a better place to hit him would be his laning phase. It should be a lot harder for Zed to 100-0 your adc if he doesn't have 1 or more kills and perfect cs coming from his lane.

Tell your m8s to turn off melee mode

I agree with this. Zed is an all-in melee assassin, so once he commits to the all-in, he should have to finish the job, and not just blink away immediately. Get in, get the kill, get out, not just get in, oh whoops I screwed up, get out.

Most assas have a reset, escape, etc. And zeds ult going back is not as bad as lb :l where she can with w and r on short cds. As far as I see it zeds healthy in all manners, I mean if you consider it his ult has the most counterplay..than any other ult in the game. Also you described a healthy assassin..Get in get the adc gtfo because chances are he has next to 0 hp and cant do anything else in the team fight. ( not like hes gonna kill the tank top Maokai or the mid Chogath or the jng Sejuani and the sup Nautilus ).

He won't kill anybody if he drops everything instantly and leaves. He needs to stay long enough for a delay to not matter if something's gonna die.
