Any future Eve changes or reworks should be focused towards what role/title combination?

Right now I would say she is a Fighter/Mage if anything. Not bursty enough to be an assassin, too focused on autoattacks to be a Mage first.

I personally think she should be a Mage/Assassin or Assassin/Mage but thats just me

You guys are assuming she's keeping her same kit if she gets a rework, which is most unlikely. I think she should be engineered towards an assassin/mage when they rework her because thematically, that's what she is: an assassin who utilizes dark magics to kill her quarry.

Utilizing dark magic doesn't make her a mage tho, if she doesn't have the mage play pattern she really isn't a mage

Currently she does too much damage focused around autoattacks and sustained ability usage to be a mage

Eve hasn't ever been a true Assassin because she lacks any form of focus break mechanic.

A focus break is, simply, an ability that allows you to avoid (break) enemy focus on you. Fizz has his pole, Akali has her shroud, Zed has his shadow teleports, and so on and so forth.

Eve?

Eve has nothing.

She's always been a Fighter/Mage hybrid thing who has running away for her only means of escaping from a team fight once she goes in. Now, Riot could make her a true Assassin by giving her 3 seconds of true invisibility on her W active, but I somehow doubt that's going to happen. So I would pin her as a Fighter/Mage, a champion who can be deceptively durable (Ult heals on Kill/Assist again, kthx) and who focuses on sustained damage regardless of how you build her. Knifecat already does the burst from stealth thing better, he can keep that role.

yeah, i see her as sort of an ap version of rengar, who has the ability to go full burst, but can also build semi tanky and initiate. The focus break mechanic explained perfectly.

That's one of the reasons for my suggested ultimate change here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/ZkA65PBt-evelynn-idea-new-ultimate-safe-word-and-some-changes-due-to-no-dfg-no-more

When you compare her to other assassins it's pretty obvious that they found ways to make the kit work and then gave those kits to other assassins (like rengar). They're terrified of making her kit work.

Granted the ability as I suggested it is a bit OP, but at least it gives Riot a lot of knobs and levers they can adjust to balance it.

IMO she shouldn't be an assassin/mage. Her ultimate gives an HP shield based on how many targets she hit. So she should deal some damage just not that much. Late game, she should be able to initiate a fight with her ultimate (not necessarily front line, just start a fight, maybe tank if she's fed or something) while early and mid game be more of a damage dealer.

So I see her more as a mage/assassin or a mage/fighter. If I could choose two votes, those would be my choice :P

Fighter/Assassin all day. Her E gets a 2.0 scaling off of any on hit effects like BotRK or Devourer, and her Q and E both scale better with her AD than AP.

Lane Eve: item 3153 item 3042 item 3091 item 3078 (item 3102/item 3143) (item 3006/item 3009/item 3111/item 3020)

Jungle Eve: (item 3710/item 3718/item 3726) item 3153 item 3078 item 3091 item 3074 (item 3068/item 3143/item 3102) (item 3117/Other boots)

As a longtime Eve player I felt the need to log in just so I could reply here. Her E's scaling is the same in both AD and AP: 100% AP and 100% bonus AD, which means it scales much more strongly with AP due to 18 AP being worth approximately 11 AD in gold efficiency. Because of the above gold efficiency, in spite of the AD scaling of her Q being higher than the AP, her AP scaling is actually stronger. The biggest draws to AD for her are her very strong AS boost off her E, the new on-hits, and the strong sustained damage potential from autoattacks. However, you do sacrifice her ult (pretty much entirely) by turning it into a fairly weak shield and slow (until level 16 where it's a decent shield and slow) and as above, the stronger AP scaling.

Frankly, Eve's been pigeonholed so hard into being a hybrid though that neither AD or AP is in any way optimal, nor does she have the tools like Tristana, Kayle, or Akali to run with one side really successfully. She needs changes to her ult to bring it up to par with just about every other ultimate in the game as far as cooldown and damage. She needs to have her damage types looked at because frankly it's impossible for her to build penetration effectively. And she just needs some base stat love because for just about all of season 4 (and now into season 5), Eve has needed to avoid fair fights like the plague unless she's fed (something no other assassin needs to do, excepting those who are agreed upon to be weak).

Going back to the OP's question, Assassin/Mage was her traditional role back in season 1, with a few Assassin/Fighters thrown in. Mage/Assassin started to take that over when she started to run midlane. And more recently she's been forced into the Fighter/Assassin slot. I'd love to see a return to her Assassin/Mage days when her ult actually meant something, she scaled decently into the lategame, and could win a 1v1 against any non-fed ADC without needing to be four kills ahead and with the removal of DFG, that might actually be an option for Riot now.

TL;DR: She needs a lot of flat out buffs and should be pushed more towards the Assassin/Mage idea rather than forcing her to be a fighter. Her ult needs major improvements in particular.

She is absolutely not supposed to be a fighter. She's an assassin. There should not ever be an assassin/tank. Shen is kinda dumb and unfortunately was created before they realized this.

Evelynn was nerfed by making her INTO an assassin that had to build tanky (in order to jungle). She doesn't really work right now because of it.

To those voting Assassin/Whatever:

What kind of focus-break would you give Eve to allow her to actually function as an Assassin? Three seconds of stealth on her W active? Something else? Because giving her more damage doesn't make her any more of an Assassin. A high-damage champion without any way of breaking focus is a Fighter or a Mage, depending on how they're built.

How about a blink ability like Ezreal's? Thematically it would be something like "step into shadows and reappear a short distance away".

Personally, I always enjoyed running out of the fight after I got my kill(s).
Rather than a focus break, I would say that an assassin only needs a way to get to her target, and then another way to survive the reprisal. Think about Nocturne for example: he uts in, gets his kills, and then uses W and maybe Q to escape when things go wrong. Nocturne doesn't have a focus break, but I'd still call him an assassin.

A quick one-second or partial-second stealth on her W a la Kha'Zix would actually be a really good strategy. She'd be more evasive as she got kills and be able to drop aggro rather easily in the middle of fights without being overbearing. It would also lend a little more to ganks and her laning ability. Darien's suggestion of a blink wouldn't be horrible either.

Replacing her passive stealth for activated stealth on a resettable cooldown, basically tying it directly to her W

Mage assassin/assassin mage like she used to be before they gutted her with a rework that only turned her into a nerf magnet waiting to happen.

Mage Assassin, Femme Fatale is her theme, mystery is how she shows it off, magic is really good at being mysterious.

Im surprised Support/assassin isn't on the list, League could use a few of those, and her mobility + vision dominance could make her a support gank beast if she had a hard cc, like a fear to feed carries with.

Changing her into a Support or Utility based character is really far off from what she is currently so I didnt include it or Tank

Personally I wish there was a way to make hybrid builds viable without putting some champions over the top. You know who I'm talking about...

Riot: "She just got a rework (nevermind that it was terrible). She is not on the radar anytime soon."

agbudar1 votes

everyone loved playing her as an assasin this was back when her ult did max health damage now it's current health

they turned her from god tier into garbage tier overnight. they simply could have made it that it would be 15% max hp at all ranks and simply reduce the cooldown now you have an ult that does not execute and all her skills get reworked because riot has this idea that burst from stealth is toxic.

well i got news for you if i "SEE" my enemy walk up to me and delete me and there is NOTHING I CAN FUKIN DO ABOUT IT its far more toxic Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed

if i dont see em i always have the afterthought of "i should have been more carefull" using stealth to do your thing is actually a health mechanic riot. its healthy not them R "faceroll keyboard" hurrdurr LCS plays.

Cerbearus1 votes

Riot just wants her to be a full tank. Every time she finds a way to burst people, they just nerf her again.

Oleandervine1 votes

Well, whatever they decide, I hope she remains a primary assassin who retains her stealth. Honestly, her passive is the only piece of her kit I would keep. I'd rework the rest of it. It would be kind of fun to see a passive escape like LeBlanc's passive that blinks her a distance on hitting a damage threshold, but I'm not sure how that would work mechanically in the game.
