PSA: Soraka has been nerfed. CAN WE PLEASE STOP BANNING HER?

Krys Star··9 votes·860 views

The nerfs she received were huge. Big. Like, she has to take more risks now. Why are people still banning her every single match, 20 hours later??? Like holy hell. I was hoping after work, I could go back to playing and maining her again but people are still banning her like it's the end of the world. Riot needs to force and require players to read patch notes, with a 5-10 minute timer and a quiz before players can launch their client and queue up for Ranked.

Because they weren't that huge. On these boards, before the preseason, a Rioter posts that her raw healing might be too strong. Then preseason comes with pretty sizeable buffs, but above all that was the Grievous Wounds change. What do they do? They don't nerf her raw healing.

The only noticeable nerf was the Q range, which was just a dirty change, as all spell range nerfs usually are.

I expect real nerfs to follow in January, then no compensation. And no one but other Soraka mains will care even though the champ is unique as hell.

..Exactly.

Except that they also increased her heal mana cost by 20. Level 1, it goes from 20 to 40 mana cost, level 5 from 40 to 60 mana. Even level 5, it's still a 50% manacost increase. Rest assured, she will heal less now, even if she won't heal less per spell.

Congrats, you successfully noticed that the guy who called himself a Soraka main in his OP is a Soraka main.

I wrote this before actually reading OP, the title was enough. Call me sherlock Kappa

Soraka is still strong.

Nerfs were a joke High elo Sorakas run hp/5 quints and get coin early so they don't even need to land Qs for hp

"But she has to take more risks" No, this will just encourage Soraka players to interact even less because of her increased risk factor, she needed a range reduction on W, not Q

DeathBurst1 votes

Nerfs were anything but a joke. The mana cost on her W has been hugely increased. She can't heal as much as before, or she will run out of mana.

if she takes heal level 1, she can use her heal 10x exactly before running out of mana (wasn't there an u pdate so she could use her W while out of hp? )

with the cunning passive to restore mana and the resolute masteries for hp, she will be fine

DeathBurst1 votes

She will be "fine", indeed. As opposed to "OP" in the previous patch. So stop baning her, that was the point of this thread. ;)

About using W out of HP: sure, you can. It leaves you at 1HP. Try that in my lane, and I can assure you my flash will burn. ;) (For precision sake: W costs 10% max HP, you can use it between 5 and 10 % and it leaves you at 1HP, but you can't use it at all if you are below 5 %.)

Nerfing the range on her W wouldn't just nerf her, it'd utterly destroy her. The range on her Q and W aren't the problem with her anyway.

You can either have her have her range but be squishy, or you can make her a close-ranged healer who's tanky. I think the general consensus is that tanky healers are a stupid idea, so that leaves one option.

You should know by now that the community doesn't stop banning something until it is more likely to lose than win. These nerfs weren't harsh enough to accomplish that.

I wish you luck, OP. But given that the last Darius nerf was in 5.20, and that he is below 49% winrate ever since, but is still banned every other game, despite there being far more OP stuff (like Yasuo, Jax, Mundo)... Well, I suppose Soraka will be banned for a long timestill ^^'

I was actually thinking that I should do this kind of thread for Darius, but given the reaction you got with this one, maybe I'll pass.

Even if she isn't OP, she's still not fun to play against. There's a reason people ban Yasuo and Fizz so much even at the times they aren't OP.
