What this game needs for longtime returning players... @Riot

It's been about 6-8 months since I last played League (with the exception of a handful of ARAM and URF with friends). I'm a Competitive nut, I love Ranked, and to get straight to the point: In the Collection tab, where you can view champions, their overview, their abilities and their skins, there should also be a tab for History, reflecting and showing all the changes the champion has received since the beginning of time. Sure, I could go to the League wiki to check each and every individual champion that I actually care about (instead of sifting through page after page of patch notes), but it'd be really nice and handy to have in the League client too.

I've gotten that itch to play League again after so long, and I remember reading a few months ago about Janna having her shield decaying, but I don't see that on Janna's page so I'm unsure if it ever went live, or if the tooltip hasn't been updated for her page.

It would actually be sick if you haven't played for a long time and you have all the patch notes you weren't online for organized neatly for you. Like you would just have a list of shit saying like

Annie Nerf Azir Buff DrMundo New Ekko Buff Evelynn New

And you would be able to click and open up and tell you the patch history for all champions that were changed while you stayed offline and it could also tell you if the champions are weaker, stronger or something is new with them since the last time you played a game.

What the game really needs for old players are legacy servers.

But i guess this is the nature of a lot of the games which constantly change shit, they end up alienating all of their players slowly over time.

That's a good idea coming from another player that likes to take long breaks.

Unfortunately the WIKI isn't super accurate, really. And Riot often buffs things mid patch and it's not always easy to find what they changed.

I'd argue that. The reason most of my friends have left league, myself more or less included, is because of the atmosphere. Riot started the game without an effective behavior "management" system. For five seasons, they let it run, run, run. in 2012, they introduced the honor system for the FIRST time. But it was five seasons too late. A friend of mine who talks my ear off about League, and does nothing but supports, will not play ranked. EVER. He's been told he's at least Gold material. But, he won't play because of the rampant toxicity. The last game I ever watched was about four weeks before I was put into the hospital on a mandatory 72 hold. I was already spending the night at this friend's house for "safekeeping", and narrowly dodged being taken to the hospital then. A ghafla on the other team kept telling people to kill themselves. When he was told to quit, he doubled down and told ME to complete. That was the last time I've ever looked at it. I posted a few weeks ago, asking about the game, and didn't get good news. His reports to me about Ranked not getting their "rewards" for being ranked and honor 1 has done little to restore my confidence. It doesn't matter how good the window dressing is, or how great the food is, if the atmosphere is cyanide.

I'll tell you what it needs. It needs something that Blizzard is doing for WoW...it needs... it needs League of Legends Classic!

I left for a few months (went on an eso spree as a break from toxic teams), the champs I play that tend to get changed I just check champion.gg. Or play a game and get surprised when something is different

Great idea, but I would like to add to it.

What if instead of just showing patch notes regarding buffs or nerfs for every champion, Riot instead showed you the changes to champions you played the most as well as champions you struggled with the most. They could go even further and add filters for lanes/roles, and would show you the changes on the most popular champions in those specifics lanes/roles, making sure you know what you're up against and how your favorite champions are fairing.

Most of this stuff you can view in other websites, but it would be great if I could simply view it in the client.

The problem is: those of us that take long breaks aren’t addicted to the game enough to spend real $$ on it...

There was a time, but I have a wife and kids now...I rarely have enough time to spend more than one or two games playing..let alone justify a real money investment...

I wind up playing arams because they’re quick and then I suck at farming...and then I get tired of sucking and go pull weeds in my garden...

But a couple weeks later I’ll come back because I really enjoy the game...I get a couple arams in because that’s all the time I have...I do well in the all out brawl but don’t have to farm so I get rusty...

Then I suck at farming.../rinse repeat

All through this I’m not spending any money...so why would riot cater to me?

I remember when getting to plat the first time with Malz. Then diamond. But nah bro, rather than not being degenerates and changing the game and champions every month so my time playing this stupid game been completely pointless, just have some tabs in your client bro, that's what returning players need. Not that they would ever get off their asses to move that wiki info into their client, but you know that's what we really need. A notepad file.

you would also have to have an "item change log" as stuff gets added and removed waaay too often now. Adding is fine so long as it's balanced, but a lot of older material is gone and Runaan's is no longer 70% but is now a crit item with only 40%

Whatever you see in official posted patch notes is on the live servers.

What I'd like back is the context they used to have for each change in the patch notes.

Now it's just things like

"Damage increased late."

As another play who takes long long breaks and then plays a bunch and then breaks again ,I'd love this. this'll probably never happen because rarely does riot give a sh*t about old players, or most players for that matter

Chromatic Eagle7/23/2018, 2:09:36 PM1 votes

That seems overwhelming imo.
