Support item "missions" get fulfilled by regular average play and can be completely ignored

Basically title, If you never told me that there were "missions" on these items i would be getting the rewards at the exact same time every game.

Using the item passives to acquire more gold and therefore more items, just seems to overpower/blend with the mission of "proc it this many times for more wards"

How about you need to proc it no matter what because thats your main source of gold generation.......

Its almost like lowering the gold value of minions, then giving the taken gold back to you after killing 10. Well i was gonna kill 10 anyways... This quest didnt coerce me into killing minions or changing playstyle.. This quest is just there for the sake of being a quest.

The addition of these "missions" seems like cheap, fake, filler. And as a support main does LESS THAN anything to increase my immersion.

I hate having to complete a mission just to unlock reliable vision.

If I can afford to buy the sightstone item, I should get the wards. Period.

especially considering they boosted the cost by 200g

this season most likely feels like it's going to be an enchanter season since gold income changes make it to where you're passive until you complete a quest for vision, item 3401 has an hp value close to the other 2 items, and they are removing bandit at points of playing Taric i contemplate rather i should get coin

Well... i mean it depends on the support item you pick. If you go spellthiefs edge you get gold for hitting your opponent. It's what you're supposed to do yes, but if the enemy stops you from hitting them, then they'll get their extra trinkets faster than you.

Actually... irregardless of support item. If they manage to zone you from your coins or minions, they'll get trinket faster than you. That kind of advantage is ruined by getting your item at a static time. There's no outplay potential there.

This isnt really true, denying them gold to spend on vision, versus denying them "points" for vision, plays out the exact same way. As points and gold are acquired the exact same way.

These missions were designed to add a level of play, and they arent.

As long as collecting and zoning, generates and denies gold, the ward benefit will always blur, or come second to the gold benefit. It in no way feels like im doing something different than i normally would or have been to get these wards.

Either way, ward mission or not, im collection and zoning just the same, and thats a failure from the perspective of adding a new fresh feel to support items.

If the support item is 1000g with no mission, and i deny the support 200 gold, ive just done the exact same thing as if i were to deny them mission procs. i gave myself a vision lead for an amount of time by correctly using the item. There is no need for a "mission"

Get what im saying? They took something that was already being done, and badged it as "support item missions" for the sake of giving the role some love.

Yeah, but this way, you don't have to take up an itemslot with a warding item, and can actually spend early gold on specific build paths per champ instead of starting a sightstone. Considering support makes the least amount of gold in most games, it helps that they can get full build at around the same time as their ADC, when previously they were either down an itemslot because of sightstone, or still had a ways to go to finish up their full build.

Edit: Typed an essay of un-needed blabber

Basically tldr: 6th item slot gets used in less than 10% of games, and isnt worth any trade in early power whatsoever.
