I feel like these Viktor nerfs hurt his Champion Identity and should be looked at. (Riotrepertiore)

So, Viktor. His whole theme as a champion is Progress. The (In his eyes anyway) betterment of Human society through Hextech augmentation. A well-intentioned extremist, when you really break it down. I love this theme. I love his concept. I love his lore.

Now what is the definition of progress? Gradual betterment. I want to emphasize the "gradual" part here.

The upcoming Hexcore nerfs go against this entirely. These items are extremely gold inefficient until you're a late game Viktor with the Perfect hexcore. Awful to the point where you'd honestly be a fool to even bother getting any of the other augments besides the perfect one UNTIL the very lategame, around 40 minutes in. (that is unless you get Lucky and get fed somehow)

Where's the progress in this? There is none. Not without making awful monetary investments and being okay with setting yourself behind. Until the lategame, Viktor will have NO passive. Not unless you willingly purchase bad items and shoot yourself in the foot. The whole Gimmick of Viktor's passive was to have a solid, cost efficient item at the cost of being with giving up an item slot for it.

Was the hexcore too good? Yes, it definitely was, in my opinion they needed a little bit of toning down. Are these nerfs too harsh? Absolutely. Viktor will be so weak early and mid that he may never even reach that lategame fantasy. Yes, you can build other items and ignore the hexcore until it's a good item but then It may as well be a whole other champion. Something that is not Viktor. Something without a passive. Just another mage.

Please, RiotRepertoir Viktor players need you. A Viktor player begs you to tone down the nerfs on Hexcore. (NOTE: Tone down, not revert completely. Just like the Zed and leblanc nerfs are getting toned down a bit.) Or to at least consider giving him a few buffs in other areas because as it stands Viktor's Viability is going to PLUMMET. He doesn't have to be "broken" He just has to be balanced. and these nerfs are going to essentially "Veigar" him.

Anyway, thank you for reading my post. I love Viktor, I love playing him. Yes I can agree that he needed a bit of toning down. But I actually want to keep playing him without having to feel bad that I may have just costed my teammate's the game just because I wanted to play my favorite champion in the game.

PS:

Listen, I hate asking for upvotes but I just really would like it if I got a red response... Honestly you don't have to upvote just comment to have this thread be up there. Thanks for your consideration.

The hexcore item is "ok", but Viktor really needs cdr. So it is kind of a waste lategame... He would be stronger, if you could upgrade his spells without wasting a slot for just an "ok" item.

Have an upvote. I don't play Viktor but I definitely think that making his Hexcore useless until it's fully upgraded is a poor decision.

If these changes stick, then hopefully Riot will at least make the Hexcore upgrade itself automatically, that way it's less toxic when people rush it than before (when the item was good) but it feels more like a passive because you don't invest money into it.

You're wrongness leaves me wondering if you can even math. There was no way to let the hexcore be a big immediate buff to him (along with buffing his spells) and have it be balanced. It was always meant to be a gradual stat increase, and now it is just that.

Also, there is one upgrade that is necessary for Viktor early (laser upgrade), the others can wait until later while Viktor goes about his normal build. Then, around level 12-15, he can prioritize his hexcore and it will give roughly comparable stats to what it gave before instead of being an item that Viktor can immediately rush to be more powerful than almost any other champion mid.
