How many other pre-update Zyra mains stopped playing her because of her wonky changes?

They made her Q a wonky shape and deal less damage so you have to hit randomly spawning seeds that can be destroyed by enemies and its just a hot mess of a kit, her old shit was super solid and less tedious.

All the other mage updates were improvements except for Zyra, I've wanted to say this since before she even went live but was too afraid of all the hype and new players picking up zyra that really enjoyed her, only to find out later that rito overbuffed her, and its mostly a cheesy gimmick in the lane phase(unless snowballing which would happen often until her nerfs).

Zyra was my first main when I started in season 4 and remained my go-to counter engage support(and mid and sometimes jg) right up until the mid season mage update, when I dropped her for the first time and havent played her since.

Can we please get old Zyra back? I regret ever asking for any changes to her, I had no idea you would do this to her..

They wanted her to play more around her plants and less around her actual skills, which is not a bad concept. The problem is that it's badly executed. Making the seeds randomly spawn isn't bad thematically, but mechanically it's a huge mess to play with and against.

They could've just given her more seed charges on her W so she could place more and not get heavily punished if they were destroyed. You were basically gimped if you didn't have 2 seeds in your hands.

I hate playing her now, as well.

It's a shame, I really did like her a lot in mid lane. But the new Q is just...not great for mid. I wouldn't say it's great for bot lane either but her plants are just OP down there at the moment.

And I do hate the passive. Randomly spawning seeds isn't my idea of something fun, nor is it something that makes a cohesive kit. Right now she's only getting work done by virtue of numbers and how responsive her plant AI is. If they nerf any of that she's going straight down to the bottom of the barrel.

she is fine. just step on her little plant babies heads and make them pop. What can she do after that?

Did... did you not read any of that? Including the title...?

It's like you saw the word "Zyra" and used a canned response.

I enjoyed her more after, and probably would have played her more if I didn't stop playing altogether

I also dislike her since the rework. They wanted her to play more around her plants, but she 'plays' less around them despite haveing more of her damage tied to them. Befor the rework, she needed calculated play and rewardet players that knew what they are doing. She 'played' more around plants, cause every plant you had existed because you wanted exactly thatplant in exactly that spot. Any plant spawn was a purposefull concious decission. Now the seeds spawn randmly around you and casting any spell procs all seeds with serveral miles...There is not much of a concious decission on where to have which plant, you just randomly get plants left and right, beeing a spambot that relys to some extend on rng to get the plants in the right places. The worst for me is that you can't really influence which seeds grow into plants because of the random semi global spawn-aoe that your skills now have.

Right now, Zyra feels pretty dumb compared to befor, mostly about mindlessly spaming Q till you opponent drowns in random plant spawns. Befor the rework, zyra was one of the harer to play champs, now she requires little skill and is really frustraiting to face because her garden of doom has little downtime and requires no skill what so ever while also haveing little counterplay for most champs, as killing multiple plants just takes to much effort unless you have something like MF's E, so you either get zoned away, or you walk through the garden and take the damage, both usually not great options.

As someone who has fought alongside Morello when her sneak peak was revealed ( virgins and feminists were going crazy OMG SHE IZ NOOD OMG SEXIST ), someone who tried hard to stop Riot from stomping her down to NOTHING and nerfing everything on Zyra ( be it her general stats, range, cast speed or ap ratio ) I am happy and love the changes. She has more lane control now, she can now easily zone or use her passive to scout risky areas. I am by no means calling you a noob or a bad player but just because you can't adapt to the change or you had the wrong idea of how a champ should be it doesn't mean the champ is " useless " or " unplayable " now. She is stronger than what she has been post the huge nerf.

Me. The old Zyra had the tools to solo disable 2-3 people with ease and escape, if she has not been focused hard enough. She was rare on the mid lane, but when she has been already picked up there, she would show her true power that a lot of people did not know about. The actual Zyra is a huge degradation of a less known mid-lane champion to a Support. It's obvious that these changes let her function on the support role better than before, but the mid lane Zyra has been immensely nerfed, and almost forced to be played on bot.
