Why riot left gankplank in a weak state

why they consider him toxic or unbuffable also if i think that if they buff gp in anywhere that will make him op

Gp's Kit is as follows:

Passive - perfect for kiting. Q - lots of free extra gold your opponent has no way to catch up on putting you ahead even if you are behind. Plus? Late game it hits for 50%+ W - Breaks cc and grants health, cause thats not a frustrating playstyle or anything. E - Local movement and attack speed buff (while having a passive slow) R - one of the last global ults in the game, and also, more slows (yay)

Yes, one of the more immobile champs in the game has a way to clear CC. Why is that broken?

His q Crits are crazy, but that's really his only way of doing damage. GP has AP scaling on his heal and ult, so AD only affects his q.

Hoi Im Temmo2 votes

Yeah, except

He basically plays like a marksman, most of whom have low mobility. Except someone like jinx cant break out of cc to escape. So.....

His Q hits with crit and triforce do MASSIVE damage. Stupidly large. The fact that he only has two damaging abilities really doesnt matter at that point.

Ap Scaling means nothing in regard to "should he be buffed" - ad is only supposed to effect his q.

His heal means he auto wins most trades because he can Q, run away, and heal if you got any damage on him. ANd his E meas that not only does he slow you, he gets a movebuff.

The argument here is not that he is op - but that playing against him is a negative and unfun experience. He is more than simply non-interactive; the less you interact in lane, the better, because since he gets more gold than the opponent just through his q, your opponent simply cant just farm so they have to apply preassure, risking ganks or simply dying to GP's Q landing 3 times.

Now, lets review: A ranged champ (dont even try to claim he isnt) who cant be cc'd, gets extra gold, has to abilities to facilitate kiting, a self heal, and a global ult - Gee why would THAT not be fun in that game?

His heal and steroid are both on decently long cooldowns, and any good GP player will probably save them both, but good GP players are few and far between.

Without AP on the heal, it is actually pretty weak.

The quantity of players able to utilize a champion beyond the point of balance does not take the place of balancing the champion.

Their long cooldowns do not serve to create an opening, but serve to only to gate the times at which he can play more aggressively - namely, he can move up and farm while harrassing while they are on cooldown, and then back off and farm rather than harrass while they are NOT on cooldown. This playstyle is, as I said above, unfun and creates toxic gameplay.

If he moves back, it's your job to push in on him and apply more pressure until he actually backs. Also, he has bad mana issues if he's harassing with Q and healing or using his steroids.

The champ isn't broken or unfun. He's just strong.

Didnt claim broken, and he is only fun to the person playing him.

so one-shotting almost everyone on the enemy team with infinite sustain and a global ult with a MS buff and big gold income is weak? Please learn the signs of a stroke.

Wish this was true

because it is?

GP only one-shots carries if he builds CritPlank. It's more common to see TankPlank or just standard bruiser builds. He falls short of what many other top laners can do, and his global ult isn't even very good.

Honestly, if you're building tankplank, you're doing something wrong. You're wasting a champion's potential just because of the current meta. That isn't because of how strong the champion is. Would you rather have another doctor mundo? Besides, they buffed his ult a lot in his last mini-rework, and the gold you get from parrrley stacks up very quickly. This is a case of people so dedicated to the meta set by LCS players, they're too blind to see the potential in a champion.

Both have their plus sides. Critplank can one shot a squishy. Tankplank is nigh unkillable while still being able to bring good utility and even some damage to a fight.

Personal preference though is item 3074 item 3025 item 3087 AOE bruiser plank. Once you get your Tiamat finished, you start doing some good damage, and it only goes up from there as you get IBG and Shiv.

He's actually in a pretty good place, but only if you see past "Q can crit" and realize that Q applies on hit effects. Tanky-on-hit plank does amazing right now, especially against ranged top champions. Max your heal first to sustain through everything, pick up a Tiamat/Hydra and a shiv, then build an Omen and a Spirit visage and Iceborn Gauntlet. This also lets him splitpush really hard, and teamfight really well.

Crit-plank required a crazy high gold commitment, leaves you squishy and only works if you are snowballing. It is an extremely feast or famine build path. Alternatively On-hit plank is very consistent, and every piece of each item is meaningful and makes a difference.

GP is a boss. He's in a good spot I think. Can play 4 out of the 5 roles. And it feels SO GOOD when you crit a Q for more than half someones health bar.

They're reworking him, I know. Anyway, he's playable.

As one of the few GP mains left, please don't touch him Riot, I know a rework will only remove his soul like so many other champions. The only thing I support changing is his ult. Being global doesn't make it not a tremendously boring ability.

I still have plenty of success with him top, jungle, or as a support. He's nowhere near as bad as people try to make him sound, he's just not one of the dominant picks that fits into any comp.
