Sona mains stop deluding yourselves

"But other supports like Leona, Blitz, Thresh are just as oppressive!"

The other 3 have shorter range (2 of them melee) and all require on landing a skillshot to engage on you, not to mention they all lack sustain and don't have 5 million auras that require absolutely no skill to be useful

You mash buttons on sona and give your team hundreds of gold of stats just for picking sona, and you people actually genuinely believe that is a healthy game pattern. She's a broken champion that is not fun to fight against whatsoever because she has absolutely no counterplay in her kit. All of her damage is targetted in lane, she's ranged, she has auras, and she has sustain. Even Crescendo is so easy to land.

You keep acusing right of having absolutely no idea how to fix Sona when in reality you're using it as some sort of sick denial tactic to cover up the fact that you play one of the easiest (if not THE easiest) champions in the entire game who has way more power than their risk should allow. Stop kidding yourselves

She also has the best boobs in the game so it's hard to concentrate when you fight against her. Sona

Perhaps not the "best," but they're definitely fabulous. For sure in the top 5 or 10.

I love joking when I see Jinx/Sona bot - they both have blue hair, play botlane AND have the widest boob-size range in all of League XD

There's a reason Nidalee spears were nerfed. Because that one hit is all that matters.

Biltz/Thresh only have to land 2 hooks within 5 minutes of eacthother to practically guarantee a kill vs any squishy support of which Sona is the squishiest. And then the gameplay pattern they have when they're ahead is leagues worse than most poke supports. Being ahead allows them to completely zone both enemy laners because trying to pull off some flashy poke in an attempt to force them back is absolutely not worth the risk of feeding the enemy a kill. Blitz/Thresh with mobis is absolutely retarded to fight without something to poke off mobis because at that point they just run up to you to guarantee a stunlock and if you aa them, they're already in range to screw you over.

If they're only making plays every 5 minutes, they're going to get absoloutly rolled.

Sona's gonna punish them for every single miss, and the entire duration their Q is on CD.

It's cute that you think Blitz can miss a hook on Sona. But he can't. Not when he has the best move speed steroid in the game and a guaranteed knock-up. Blitz can literally walk right up to Sona and hook her and there's nothing she can do about it. Oh no, she did some amount of damage to his automatically generated life-saving shield before she died. How terrible. Better nerf Sona.

It's not even a secret anymore; Sona is Eve tier. She was fundamentally bad for the game so they intentionally reworked her into an ridiculously underpowered state so that nobody plays her anymore. Riot doesn't care about Sona anymore so she's been left to die with the other cast-offs. GG Riot, well played.

No. They were nerfed because of QQ.

Just like Leblanc.

And this validated the idea that you get what you want by crying hard enough.

Good thresh's and blitzcranks don't even have to hook you. They can just sit in a bush and zone you out of lane by NOT hooking, which is actually much more effective. Let's also not forget the fact that Thresh has a massive steroid on his AA and is innately tanky, so he's able to harass up close, unlike Sona who will get blown up like a fucking nuclear bomb if she even positions slightly incorrectly.

OJ1916 votes

@OP I'm not a Sona main, or even a bot lane main, and every time I have gone bot and there has been a Sona, they lose.

lol this

people don't want to risk being hooked because it's almost certain death

but if you try to hook and miss/they dodge it... that threat is now gone for however many seconds.

I can't remember the last time Blitz/Thresh sat in a brush and zoned me for any meaningful amount of time when they weren't heavily winning lane. That's just completely false. Blitz can't just afk zone, he's gonna get poked. If he misses Q he's gonna get blown up if he thinks he can just chill.

Yah but you're gold, so blitzcrank's probably just waste their hooks and let you harass them after the miss it because they have no way to react when their initiate is down. Good blitz's /do/ zone you out of lane (it doesn't mean they afk), you probably just haven't experienced it at your elo.

I agree, last night I saw a Sona complaining that if you land one stun on her level 1 you die. The Sona just lets Leona walk up to her and everything. Godforbid they have to learn to position with their incredibly hard kit.

It really is annoying to see these deluded Sona players lately. If you try to reason with them they just go "Oh my 2k sona games says no" as if they aren't allowed to use some logic. Maybe they just suck with Sona after 2k games lel.

Here it is. "Sona played perfectly and there was nothing that Sona player could have done." Yea ok. I'm going to add this Sona player today and ask her if she thinks she made a mistake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXyGSJijOYs

Sorry, but Riot clearly does not know what they are doing with Sona.

They added the Q on-hit, but nerfed Q active and Power Chord to compensate. "We want to shift power from passive auras to active abilities". And that'd be OK - except they nerfed the on-hit effect. And then the passive some more.

They absolutely ruined the W heal and upped the manacost to the heavens, but added a shield and a missing %HP scaling. "We want more clutch heals and less keeping herself and her lane mate topped off". And that'd be OK too - except they cut the %HP ratio IN HALF.

And they give a joke compensation with her ultimate raising the aura effectiveness. Wow, that +30 damage/ally lategame is going to help a lot. It doesn't even compensate for other nerfs.

SO, HER NEW "ACTIVE" SKILLS END UP LESS EFFECTIVE THAN OLD "PASSIVE ONES". Which means what they are doing to Sona is complete and utter FAIL, both from gameplay and aesthetics perspective.

And Leona, Blitz and Thresh might have to "land a skillshot", true. But, for example, Blitz's reward for doing so results in kill or burning a flash 90% of the time. Leona "landing a skillshot" results in your face being melted if she's paired with an early aggressive ADC. Thresh... don't even bring him up. He is a god of supports, bar none. Morg probably gets you killed, especially if she has her ult too. Mind that Leona and Blitz have double the Sona's pickrate and same or higher winrate.

Funfact: Nami literally does everything Sona does, but better. Another fun fact: Leona and Thresh not only murder Sona by hitting one skillshot (but it's fair, right? because they have to "hit a skillshot") with Relic Shield heal more than Sona's W. And if Sona tries to use her heal more often than Shield charges are up, she goes OOM. So Thresh also does Sona's job better than her, with better engage/disengage to boot.

idk beating botlane 9/10 times because they picked sona is really telling me that champ needs buffs

InsaneSamurai6 votes

Blitz, Thresh, and Karma are more oppressive than Sona ever was, or probably ever will be. And no, I don't play Sona, I just haven't seen a Sona do well bot lane more than once in a blue moon. Most of the time they end up hiding under the turret with the adc because they're both squishy as hell and they ran into an actual oppressive sup.

Skernan6 votes

All three of those supports are tanky though. They can afford to overextend a little to land their shots. If Sona steps 2 inches away from minion cover, she's sharkbait. She has no defense, no escape, and her poke is mediocre unless you use both Hymn of Valor and Power Chord together. Her heal is cripplingly expensive early for jack shit of a return, and E is just as useless as it was when she was released.

Those three champions also have far better ults, dealing much larger damage, or operating at longer range, or cutting off bottle necks for long times. Sona drops a weak stun and prays she can waddle away before they stop dancing.

pNIeZVuIod5 votes

Lol just yesterday someone on the forums was complaining about Sona being weak and having low range..... People really just want to complain about champs they lose against. Sona is fine

FDru5 votes

Spend more time complaining about Riot's wording (which has always been fucking terrible), and less time looking at actual results. When they nerfed Warwick because he was "too strong in lane" he literally disappeared off the face of the earth. Sona received a ton of changes and "nerfs" yet is somehow still perfectly fine? Weird. It's like she brings a ridiculous amount of utility to a team with almost zero skill required and cannot even be nerfed enough to make it balanced.

Skernan6 votes

Sona is not "Perfectly Fine", she hides behind everything and prays she doesn't get ganked every time she moves up to harass. She has the worst heal, a crap ass speed steroid, and her ult is a crappy version of Braums, and she just lost even more damage off of her Power Chord, so she can't even harass as well, plus the ploddingly slow speed making her a bottom of the barrel pick. Anyone that does well with her should be in a higher ELO than they are.

killd0zer2 votes

Everything you just said is wrong.

Her W is pretty strong for it's CD. It heals two targets and provides a shield. That's like saying Ashe's Ult does bad damage as a complaint. The heal isn't the entire ability, and it also charges her passive.

Also, Sona is hilariously easy. There is almost no skill involved, there isn't even a choice on her passive because 90% of the time you want Q

NinjaToad992 votes

(Before anybody claims me to be so, I'm not a Sona main)

{quoted} Her W is pretty strong for it's CD. It heals two targets and provides a shield.

Her heal is the weakest in the game actually. 30 at level 1. However it heals 2 people at once, so you could say it's 60. However, Taric's base heal is 60 for both him and his ally, and if used on himself then it's 84. Plus it scales off 30% of his AP (Sona's is 20%, 40% if you're counting both heals, but then Taric's would be 60%) plus 5% of his bonus HP.

Sona's heal becomes more powerful the lower HP the person is at, but it's not that big a boost. If she healed somebody at 0% HP she'd heal them for 45 HP at level 1.

As for the CD, Taric's is almost twice as long (8/7/6/5/4 seconds longer) but is twice as strong (at all levels) and costs the same (At level one, it becomes 10/20/30/40 mana more expensive at higher levels)

Soraka's heal is obviously much stronger, cheaper, and on a lower CD, buuuut it also costs HP so I'm not gonna get in to that.

As for Sona's shield it is also super weak, but as it's a bonus I can understand that. However it has a very small range to apply and lasts for a second and a half, which compared to other shields is really short. Plus the mana cost is huge considering her base mana.

Also, Sona is hilariously easy.

She may be harder then you think. Not with her skills mind you, with the fact that her short range isn't about the support, but the ADC. Get in range to Q and most ADCs (Maybe not Graves) will be able to toss an AA or two and massively out damage you, considering how squishy Sona is. You may say, "Well she'll just heal up anyways" and she would... If that wouldn't make her go OoM. She can literally use W 3 times before going OoM at level 1. At level 2 she can use 3 W's, and a Q before going OoM.

My point is, I never saw Sonas dominating recently, yet she gets chain-nerfed to the point where most people seem to think she's not even that strong anymore, and then gets nerfed a few more times.

I think it'd make more sense to reposition her power instead of hitting it until it stops moving.

That MS nerf landed her in the Slowest of the Slow tier. Her MS is as low as natural MS goes. She has rock bottom defenses too. Her heal is a craptastic 30 base with a momentary shield. Her MS steroid is crap just like always was. Hymn is now practically useless. Its effectiveness used to scale with your ADCs AS, and now it scales with your AP, something that supports are generally low on. Her ult is the only good thing left in her kit, and even that's mediocre compared to most other supports.

Nami is a direct upgrade to Sona. She is a better Sona than Sona.

Why does nami have a 2% lower winrate than sona then? And have an ult with a .00001 second knockup with a slow, while sona has a stun longer than morg binding?

2% winrate is nothing. Winrate shouldn't even matter but that seems to be the only thing you guys can use to qq with.

Anyways; Nami and Sona's ult aren't similar enough to compare them, and Sona's ult lasts half as long as a Morg snare.

I'm no Sona main, but there are a whole lot of supports that are a lot more oppressive than Sona, not to mention champs in other lanes that oppress their own lanes much harder than Sona.

As a matter of fact, Sona was only oppressive in matchups that were favorable for her, and she apparently has a fair amount of bad matchups.

INTER5TELLAR3 votes

There was valid reason she was (previously) the only champ with a difficulty rating of 1 - they slightly changed it, but she's still a yawnfest.

I used to main support (Thresh and Braum, mostly) and owned every single support and secondary role supp, except Sona because she is extraordinarily simple to use.

Skernan3 votes

Yeah, she only has two settings. Pray Die

I love how the people who disagree, had a downvote of what was obviously the guy who made this post, or a person who has no idea how to debate. I mean, if you are going to downvote somebody SAY WHY you down voted them. Also, Sona is in a terrible place right now. I just play her in norms if i really want to play her, hell she was all ready nerfed into the ground-not to mention Nami does a far better job at what Sona is suppose to do.

Wouldn't mind if they absolutely destroyed her as long as they left the 2 best parts of her kit still intact. :D

Sona still good after nerfs so idgaf.

RedCyclone1 votes

So effectively what you are saying, champions who are easier to play should be bad when faces against more difficult to play champions?

and you see nothing wrong with that?

PrinceArchie1 votes

You think Sona is the easiest champ to play and is somehow the most oppressive support in lane? Sona may be on the easier end but she isn't broken, nor is she as oppressive as you're making her out to be. Her lane harass is annoying yes but sona is very squishy. If she's trying to poke you, poke her back, if shes forced to use her mana to sustain rather than poke it will be very hard for her to manage toggling between the two because she does go oom very quickly.

Take an ignite in lane instead of exhaust even, be more of an aggressive mindset, but a keen one rather than making yourself her little play thing. If anything farm under turret, she can't poke you under there, otherwise she is going to get hit by a turret shot. On that note as well if she's that far extended she's very gankable.

Not only did they nerf her Q they nerfed her movement speed. This thread is useless honestly and seems you need to get more experience as or versus a sona. "No counterplay", as if you're getting blown up or something by her every 5 seconds. If you take free harass thats on you buddy.
