@Riot: I'm concerned about fallout from potential changes to shields in the game
Recently I've heard/read about the possibility that Riot might do something about the power creep that Shields as a mechanic have experienced in the game - and I applaud you folks, shields have the potential to be very problematic if left unchecked. But there is another impact that nerfing shielding might have that could result in even more angry players.
There is a dichotomy between Assassins and Enchanters, with Assassins being supposed to burst down squishies and Enchanters being supposed to shield those squishies to mitigate the Assassins' burst.
As an Assassin player I want to highlight a problem I foresee for opponents of Assassins.
For opponents, some assassins are more frustrating / un-interactive than others, and hampering the mechanics that counter them could lead to a meta where champions like Fizz and Zed (who offer less opportunities for interacting) become acutely infuriating for opponents who feel helpless to do anything about them. It could even warp the meta, forcing players to play champions like Taric, Tahm Kench, or Kayle just to prevent the enemy Assassins from insta-gibbing their carries.
Maybe I'm worried over nothing, but I want to raise this concern just in case there is a genuine problem to address. I hope you're keeping an eye on the dichotomy between Assassins and Enchanters while you are considering the balance of Shield mechanics. Thanks for all your hard work, and please keep it up, I'm quite excited to see where the game goes with the various changes we know are coming.
