We mute a player in-game because we don't want their chat, so why do they get un-muted in post-game?

I'm serious, it's really simple, we probably don't want to see their chat. We didn't like their attitude, or they were harassing others / were annoying, or other similar reasons. If I muted them before, then there's few - if any - cases where I'd actually care to see their chat in the post-game.

Riot Pls. Make mutes carry over through pregame, in-game, and post-game.

Edit: Another user came up with a better suggestion in the comments, see here.

I think muting is supposed to be a temporary thing. This means that you can use it to tidy up your chat by muting a nice but chatty person or even a friend you queued with. If you don't want to see any further content from someone, including lobbies, in-game, etc., that's the "block" feature.

Rather than automatically escalating every mute into a block, how about allowing players to use the block feature while in a match?

I think it has to do with the client being a separate application than the in game program? If that makes any sense? Not very computer savvy. I think it's a technical issue, not a conscious decision.

Yeah I too have always wished it worked like this. I guess it's just because it only mutes for that game? But still it'd be nice.

100% agree, its a game, not debate club, if i don't want to hear poopheads being poopheads i should be able to mute everything they say.

Thing is, I remember having this option before they added the handy mute button to the score board. Typing /mute name turned off the in-game chat same as the current system, but typing /ignore name put them on your block list.

I think there was some issue with accidently moving friends to block list and, when they fixed that, the ignore feature was also gone.

The legit only reason you mute someone in game is because they’re seen as toxic and or over bearing. With riot inforcing people to be “the bigger person and ignore toxic acitivity” they really should implement a block system in game and or let mutes carry over. As in, if you mute someone it should stay muted for the reminder of that game AND post-game lobby. They should also implement muting in champion select since some people become toxic and or overbearing in pre-game lobby too.

Because there's no system designed to mute them in post game chat

Ive been seeing some, not great comments about this so let me give my 2 cents.

For the most part muting is to avoid unnecessary tilt in-game from ruining that game (carrying tilt from 1 game to another is entirely the players fault, not what tilted them.) So after the game is done, it doesnt matter if your tilted.

I hate that it is separated.. for an example - If you block them, then you can't see chat in pre/post game lobby.. but in-game, you have to additionally mute the player, every time

Logic beyond reasoning xd
