Can someone please explain to me how dying from attacking someone is healthy for the game?

because you can counter it with magic on-hit and neutralize it with lifesteal

Forcing champions to build magic on hit items is stupid. item 3091 item 3115 item 3124 should never be forced on ADCs.

Most of the time the healing from item 3072 (3700g) is almost completely countered by the damage from item 3075 (2350g). building more armor and having a grevious wounds item on your team means that they would start to take a ton of damage.

Thornmail is fine right now, but any buffs to it would promote unhealthy gameplay.

god forbid ADCs have to deviate from their build like everyone else

the comparison here is pretty poor. item 3072 's damage and lifesteal is universal. item 3075 only counters basic attacks.

also note that thornmail is magic damage and built on tanks. A little MR item 3156 or item 3139 makes their thornmail damage insignificant unless they have building magic pen.

this is an offtopic thing

but thornmail damage also scales with magicpen, really?

yes

magic damage will do more damage if you have magic pen

they already do this. Constantly. Every time it happens the community screams about items being unbalanced.

BT only lifesteals off basic attacks. Thronmail only deals damage off basic attacks.

lifesteal is universal

???

Let me make this clear.

Thornmail is fine right now, but any buffs to it would promote unhealthy gameplay.

it is currently a balanced item ATM, but implementing any of the buffs people have proposed is a terrible idea -making it apply grevious wounds(damage cannot be countered by lifesteal) -making it deal true damage(cannot be itemized against) -increasing overall damage(even with MR it would be dealing more damage)

The best one i have seen is making it more slot efficient, that one might be a fine idea, as it does give only pure armor and feels like it should build into something bigger.

thornmail is horrible right now. the only champs that build it are the ones who have armor scaling

I'm not disagreeing that those buffs are horrible ideas, personally I'd rather see it be more like dota2's blademail with an active component so its power is gated by cooldowns. Thornmail being a passive is my issue with the item

I think it would be interesting to have an item that stores up enemy damage and you can launch it back at them as a skillshot. Like an active item that stores damage taken and launches it back at them like item 3030

People that think that their 2,350 gold armour item should completely counter an ADC's lifesteal are delusional, yeah.

One idiot actually complained that as Rammus he couldn't kill a Jinx that was auto attacking him with his W and thornmail while he was dueling Udyr. As if that should be what happens.

amazing.

amazing.

Notice that I was downvoted.

There are stupid idiots who have been in this thread who agree that that should happen.

OF COURSE YOU WERE DOWNVOTED. BECAUSE WHO DOESN'T LIKE DYING FROM JUST HITTING A TANK?

Ralanr1 votes

IMO, it isn't and that's why it's pretty weak at the moment. If it was too strong it would completely nullify a tank's main weakness, sustained damage. It's very existence alone is worrisome because people could ask for it to be strong despite that making it (again) remove a weakness from tanks and make them overbearing.

Your title is confusing as hell bytheway.

Finally someone is also right on this.

oops.

Yeah, it read as something we already do from retaliation.
