Let's Talk Summoner Spells Vol. 2
If you haven't seen Volume 1, it's because I accidentally posted it via a smurf on EUW (sorry, these boards aren't mobile friendly) and I haven't copied it over yet.
On today's shooting range: Clairvoyance {{summoner:2}}
What's wrong with it:
Clairvoyance, like my previous post about Cleanse, can be totally substituted for an in-game item. A free item with its own dedicated additional slot. The only difference between the two is that {{summoner:2}} is global and the
is just really REALLY long range. While Clairvoyance has a lower cooldown (60 seconds compared to 90), this spell is clearly not Summoner Spell-level material.
Proposed solution: Clairvoyance needs JUST a little more to make it a viable spell. While the argument that it needs to reveal oppressive stealthed champions like Eve and Akali is viable, I feel it's also redundant, so I'm going a different direction. That direction is Jungle Timers. Casting Clairvoyance near a buff, dragon or baron while cleared should mark the timer on the Tab screen for the users' team. This allows a clear method to prevent one-sided snowballing when faced with junglers that steal a buff, take a solo dragon or even against a team that got a lucky gank bottom and a dragon. In the current state of the game, an early bot gank and dragon is practically a victory because they now know every dragon timer AND have a lead that makes it unsafe to venture out and ward unless their team lets you.
Adding this feature to Clairvoyance allows a support to protect and allow the jungler to play more safely..with the clear trade-off of a duo lane combat summoner like
and
. Besides, as Clairvoyance currently is, it's nothing like being clairvoyant. It's more like Summoner Telescope. I want to feel like Professor Xavier in the bot lane, dang it!
