So I built Tabis on Caitlyn

Against comps that are mainly AD, and just replaced the Attack Speed I lost by buying a item 3153 instead of item 3072 and I didn't miss a beat on offense, plus tabis makes killing me nearly impossible for AD assassins. If Tabis is really at that point where we can use it on AS hyper carries and not miss a beat, then maybe it is getting a little rediculous.

It's not that Tabis are too strong, rather that Berserkers are too weak compaired. It also helps thinking about why adc build tabis so often now, imo that's because there is so much damage ingame, fix that before changing items that are more balanced than most other things.

You see, they aren't like OP, but the keyword here is I didn't miss a beat. I itemized against an assassin to the point where they lost a nice chunk of their damage, and I really didn't sacrifice anything at all. And I even did it on a champ that should never even build such an item. Tbh, it made me feel kinda dirty, but I'd still do it lol.

Greaves aren't weak. In terms of gold value, greaves and tabi are about equal. The problem is getting armor into your build is a lot harder than getting AS into your build as an ADC.

I think the point OP is making is "Building defensively should make you sacrifice some offensive power, but in the current state it doesn't, even for carries who almost DEMAND maximum offensive output."

And I couldn't agree more.

Clearly not.

He sacrificed attack speed for defense.

Then proceeded to also change his lifesteal item because he needed that attack speed back.

Then he decided, that he needs to make a thread on the board, to get more confirmation.

I guess his point is "Look, I just made an item build by myself".

If you were building BT before, you were making a mistake.

BT on caitlyn is normal.

@thread In your case thats not ninja tabis being strong; thats you shifting your build around to be slightly more defensive. Its called counter building. You made the choice to go with less AD for more defense and it worked well for you because youre a marksman and with crit, you become a drain tank. ALL marksman become drain tanks eventually.

What youre describing is not a problem with ninja tabis, its a problem with marksman itemization. you lost 35 AD and 10% lifesteal at full build - in the grand scheme of things, that really, really, REALLY isnt a whole lot when youre dishing out 500+ damage AAs every 0.75 seconds.

Tbh, the 8% maximum hp on hit damage pretty much makes up for the AD you lose from blood thirster. BOTRK is just better since the rework. BT is only viable when you have fervor, your support doesn't have any heals and you're against a bunch of squishies/fighters. Any other time, BOTRK is better. But back to tabi: it's just not fair for me to be able to knock off a pretty decent chunk of my enemy's damage without a noticeable dip in offense at all. No matter how you slice it, it's just not fair.

Thats because you are a drain tank at that point; the problem here isnt ninja tabi, its that MARKSMAN ITEMIZATION is intrinsically broken and breaks one of riots design edicts; Thou shalt not drain tanketh upon thine enemy unless thou arst grandfathered".

Fact of the matter is, champions who DONT have such spectacular heal-based tanking NEED ninja tabi just to function. You take ninja tabi away, and in the current 80% armor reduction meta tanks simply cease to work unless youre shen/maokai because press R.

I just think it needs to scale with the game, or its power should be put into an item that can't be abused by squishies. Obviously tanks need it, and they should get the passive even if its in one of their other core items. Putting it in some boots that everybody abuses is just too much.

The fact that you didn't lose damage despite lacking the damage concerns me. Maybe that should be looked at.

You realize botrk has 45AD now right? 25% asp, but still 45AD. It makes this defensive itemization not come up as a net loss when combined with the botrk active/passive.

Maybe I misread the comment.

40 AD. But yes, bork is very good now.
