Could we be allowed to create/edit rune pages in champion select?

I've never understood why we could work on or change our mastery pages but not the runes. I do not see a good reason for why not. Mastery pages are allowed because they are very comp reliant and champ specific, but runes can be too. What if i want to go say, Taric top lane, but i don't have a rune page set up for it (all armor runes). I am stuck going something second or third tier level runes rather than first tier level runes (some runes work but some are not as useful on him like life steal runes or gold/second runes).

Side request: allow to select in the first 20-30 seconds of the game RIOT PREBUILT, APPROVED, AND GENERIC mastery pages. It could either be that you are given a recommended mastery page or maybe you are shown 2-3 random pages to choose from, or something else. If you want to re-select your current page or you couldn't finish in time during champ select and now you have a semi built mastery page, this would at least not leave you at a disadvantage (hopefully) since masteries are very important right now with keystones. Ever see a windspeaker's Syndra? It doesn't work at all and she will suffer with it.

Back to main topic (a.k.a tl;dr): allow rune pages to edited/created in champion select.

Rune pages can't be edited because they're a huge IP sink when people would probably rather buy the runes themselves or champions, so some people will buy them with RP. If you could edit them, you'd never need more than the initial two aside from the convenience of not having to make a new runepage every time you feel like playing a champ that doesn't fit one of the two, but that's not enough of an inconvenience to make people fork out RP for it. The 113k IP buying 18 rune pages would cost, however, is. That, and if you could edit them, you'd really only need one cookie cutter base for each lane which you'd swap a quint here or a seal there out, so you'd only need to buy 3 and no one would need to farm for the other 15 even if they did want the convenience.

So make them purchasable with rp as well as IP, I dont mind. And before you say that won't solve anything just think. Champions are both IP and RP accessible. And you can chose who you want to be every time you play a lobby (save aram). so same concept applies.

I think you missed the point. (Also rune pages are buyable with RP already.)

Say you're an AP mid laner who sometimes plays tanky tops. If you only have two runepages, currently that means you'll have a fairly generic AP runepage, as well as a generic tanky runepage. It's almost certainly not optimal against any specific match-up, since it's made generically with no knowledge of the enemy team comp or even if the enemy laner is AD or AP, but it'll do ok. If you're at a higher level of play though, you probably have a few more pages for more specific match ups, e.g. AP vs AD mid and AP vs AP mid, which might favour armour runes or mr runes respectively. If you're really prepared, you might even have some special pages set up to account for entire team comps (e.g. versus an all ad comp you wouldn't run any mr runes at all), or for match ups you know you win you might have some runepages that trade defence for even more offence.

Point being, it's potentially currently useful to have a half dozen rune pages to account for various circumstances based on opposing team comps even for a single role. If you play multiple roles at a high level, then it's conceivable that top tier players would legitimately be making use of the max 20 rune pages (and perhaps even wish they had more), as even being well prepared you probably won't have one completely optimal for the specific match, although you can probably get close.

With the ability to edit runepages during champ select, instead of potentially needing 20+ runepages, you would only need one, and you could make it the optimal page every single time for 'free' (in contrast to the current system where you'd need to spend 100k+ IP or a bunch of RP to only begin to approach that perk).

They're meant to drain your ip/rp/whatever

What I would like is for marks and quints to be split from seals and glyphs, like two different pages in an open book, and you can combo any pair

m&q (usually based on ur champ) / / / / / / s&g (usually based on enemy matchup)

That way I can field more variations than 20 (i'm a very diverse player; I love to min/max; test new champs)

This has a side effect of reducing the necessity of rune pages for most. But it also eliminates hassle and tedium of similar sets of rune pages based on matchup.

Whatever runes might evolve into in the future the part that your champ needs vs. the reactive choices should be split this way
