And I bet money that he spammed mastery all throughout, too.

I remember playing as annie vs yasuo and he rushed a hexdrinker. Fair enough. Then he came back with a spectre's cowl. And then merc treads. After that he got a QSS which he later turned into a merc scimi. After that I found him with a banshees (Pre-rework banshee's).

It's of interest to note I was literally the only AP on our team and he never once bought a single crit item all game. This was in solo Q ranked btw.

Huh, what were those animation canceling buffs? I haven't played her for a while.

They standerisized the canceltimings making them a lot more consistend.

That sounds dumb... the whole point is that you control how fast your cancels are by how fast you clicked :/

No, there used to be a random interval at which you had to issue the command within a few milliseconds. They standardized it and increased the tolerance so that Riven play wouldn't be as ping-dependent. People at a certain ping physically couldn't play the champion at anywhere near its potential, because the cancels wouldn't work.

It makes it so champs like Riven and Ryze are now more skill-based instead of ping-reliant.

Huh?

Afaik you can cancel Riven's Q anywhere during her Q, and the faster you clicked the faster it was, with a limit on how fast it could be.

E+R shouldn't be a problem for anyone...

But I guess W+E and doublecast would be helped out by that.

That's what I thought too, but it was cleared up on the post about the changes:

Change 1: Q Animation Canceling more consistent

Juicy technical details on Riven’s Q animation cancelling:

Q has a min lockout time of 0.4 seconds. If Riven is moving (before or after pressing Q), her animation is unlocked after an arbitrary delay based on server tick rate (0 - 0.25s). This timing is pretty much random. So your ability to animation cancel is more determined by your latency and luck.

We are trying to make this no longer random, but deterministic - If you cancel your animation via moving, it will reliably cancel your animation. https://boards.pbe.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-gameplay-feedback/IYzG01mq-710-riven-changes

There's more stuff in that post, but I quoted the main bit of interest.

If only the game had lasted long enough for him to get the third pair, the other team woulda been fucked.
