Just a quick tip for greedy mid laners out there

Starting item 1056 2 item 2003 and transitioning into a second item 1056 with item 2031 is really inefficient in lanes where you have an advantage. The build costs 1050 gold and you get 380 back when you sell them, this loses you 670g.

Starting item 1082 item 2031 and picking up a second item 1082 costs you 850 and sells for 550 losing you 300g in total. You effectively have over a kill worth of gold advantage starting off.

While this is not always possible it works extremely well vs non aggressive lanes, lanes that you have an advantage, or lanes that focus on poking you (note you can take teleport as well to power spike at level 3-4 with the double item 1082). All you lose for doing this is 120 health from dorans (which shouldn't be an issue if you had a lane advantage) and some mana regen which I make up for by taking meditation (it works out ~half mana you have similar sustain to the dorans) since you don't really lose too much damage. You also gain the stacks from dark seal (only one stacks) and this is very nice to add to snowballing.

While this isn't widely popular yet I have had a lot of success starting it as a lane bully (Ahri Leblanc Malzahar) and would like to see more people try it out.

It is meant more for champions that like abusing the early game, I can aggressively trade the first 2 waves of minions and get a base off. With teleport I can have refillable pot full with 2 dark seals at 330 in game, the power spike off this is actually incredibly good if you went 1:1 in pots vs the opponent as they can't get a buy off if they base. So not only are you ahead gold wise, but also in lane dominance as well.
