What's your winrate in Poro King?

disregardable··1 votes·2,105 views

I've seen a lot of people posting that they really like this game mode. I am losing 2/3rds of my games very hard, and it's made me feel that adding a picking mechanic is not healthy for ARAM. It's really concerning to me, therefore, that people are not only applauding it but asking it to remain available. So why? Are you just winning?

Because it's kind of fun sliding into the enemy team from a mile away, or flying across the entire map to the poro king :l

I know it won't stay, and honestly it's not my favorite of the featured game modes so far, but the insane mobility is fun to play around with.

Plus, ap sion bomb delivery is hilarious.

It's ARAM with a license to pick the cheapest, cheesiest, scummiest champ you can.

My win-rate is a dead even 50%. It'd be slightly on the positive side, but a few of my teams insisted on playing Sona, despite my warnings of her August nerfs. Needless to say, they all ended in 1-sided losses...

Or team leaders that just insisted on wasting bans rather than at least taking just a little bit of seriousness. I was not surprised when they ended up feeding.

100%, meh.. It's not too bad. You can still out micro the enemy team

My favorite is landing a long range poro as skarner , flying to them, ult , then fly to the king dragging them with and letting your team nuke them clear back the the shadow isles

Not sure of my win rate exactly but I know it was on the higher side because almost every game I went super tank as a wide variety of champs and just kept control of the enemy and poro king while my teams flattened them

I've won 100% of my games, but I've only played 4 games so far and the last two were very close (both sides had open nexus and it could have gone either way).

I don't like the pick mechanic on Howling Abyss. It makes it just like other games modes where you see the same champs over and over only the pool of viable champs is even smaller than SR.

You can't have a pick mechanic and call it ARAM because AR mean ALL RANDOM. This is not ARAM, this is blind ban/pick (not draft because you can have the same champs on both teams) on Howling Abyss.

The game mode is fun, as most featured game modes are, but not meant to stick around. I wouldn't worry about it.

My winrate is 80%, and I find the gamemode to be a lot less fun when a game is heavily leaning in one side's favor than if it is a close game.

my win rate 20%

40% more or less.

I think It's all about the team composition really, though to be honest I just like being able to play my Support mains regardless of winning or losing, in Howling Abyss, which is something I look forward to on ARAM always.

I have have found the Ziggs and Heimer make great utility picks for the team, endless bombs and turrets keep a lot of pressure on the lanes, just don"t expect to carry the team, I have won 4/6.

According to my stats I have won two for every one loss, so I guess that's pretty good. I figured I was more around 50%, but I honestly wasn't paying too much attention to it.

It's about as far from serious business as League can go, so I just go into the match to hit people with Poros and just be chill away from Summoner's Rift. I do enjoy it way more than normal ARAM however, especially how you have to always be on your toes for an incoming melee zerg just teleporting in from their poros.

I pick Talon and its pretty easy since most people don't go with tanky champs and how cluster people are. Talons aoe shreds people its pretty awesome.

I seem to win more than I lose, and I literally lost 2-3 games simply because I lagged like crap every time team fights happened. I did have some games where some enemies were afk though, which has to suck for them. I played Lux, Anivia, Zilean, Lulu. I also played only 1 game with Lucian, Sora and Kat.

The extreme champs I've seen are Yi and a good Morg, Blitz, Kat. (seriously ban yi) Sion also seems good.

I've seen some champs often but they, Ziggs and Xerath, don't seem to make or break the game. (and ziggs seems to get more kills than xera)

Akali is also pretty nice.

As for why I enjoy it, it's not necessarily that it's really exciting for me, but it's so balanced. It's probably my fondest mode in league. No one gets stomped from start to end fully, simply because of the health relics and Poro King. In SR you may have the towers, but towers don't help you on the offensive too. It's the game mode where making a comeback is very possible if you still have nexus towers, and even if you don't you're not gone immediately.

i've won 9/14 games and i've only been blindly picking diana for every game but two of them. although she does seem pretty good for the mode to be able to hop in pre 6, or post 6 and get an almost guaranteed QR

Hexakill was more fun.

Hexakill was the best featured gamemode IMO. Made Twisted Treeline worth playing.

Oh.

75% winrate in Poro King. It's fun, but I only end up playing Leona/Nid, so it's kinda boring after awhile.

Yuunpewpew

70% win rate so far, 30 games played. Nearly all my losses occurred on the first day. True, some of those were genuinely unpleasant, but once people get the lee syndrome out of their systems and wake up to the meta (and yes, every game mode has its own meta), it's far easier to manipulate a win in this than any past specialty mode.

I realize Poro King is a glorified snowball fight and the point is a distraction from summoner's rift, but if you'd really like to tryhard it, here are some easy tips for winning more often than you lose:

  • Ban popular champs with high win rates (sona, kat, ziggs, kog etc. this is a good listing

  • Pick champs with high win rates but low popularity

  • Favor disengage and cc like janna, fiddle, and lulu over champs with big in-your-face initiate ults like sejuani, amumu, or lissandra

  • Focus the poro king before enemy players, or they will just return to the fight when they rez if the fight goes on for 20-30 seconds.

  • Champs that protect towers in some way (Janna, Azir), are as powerful here as in regular ARAM. It's really quite hard to come back from losing the second tower unless you can match it immediately.

Let me give some reasoning. While Sona and Janna have equivalent win rates, #1 and #3 respectively right now, Sona is picked 3x as often. This means if Sona goes through, you get a high probability of a mirror match, whereas if you ban Sona and pick Janna for your own team, you stand a great chance of having the only ace in the hole.

I have 16 matches played as Janna in there and only one was a loss, and it was due to extenuating circumstances (a player dropped out). I've been really lucky getting the bans I want. I'm a jungler main with east coast ping, not a Janna main from Busan - nothing special going on here.

You don't only have to play Janna of course. Banning kat and akali but picking yasuo is also strong. Or take out sej and amumu but run rammus or malphite. But always try to have some synergy between your picks and your bans.

What if someone else is banning instead of you? Pick around their bans instead, however ridiculous they seem to be. Find whatever gap is out there and fill it.

The extra initiate mechanic in poro king leads to a majority of teams centered around engage champs. Expect this, and play disengage instead. Since most engage champs' engage abilities are long cooldown skill shots, a proper disengage/cc comp will always have out-play potential over them. You just wait out their long abilities.

Avoid games with more than 2 adcs on your team. More than one adc is strongly discouraged, and please for the love of urf don't pick graves, draven, or vayne. Literally any other adc is better in this mode by virtue of having some sort of cc or escape. Jinx and Sivir, followed by Varus, are currently the ones I find most effective. Jinx and Sivir can be engage or disengage as the situation requires, while Varus can poke until they try to all in you, at which point you have an ae root.

Lastly there is probably an MMR ladder unique to poro king the same as any new game mode. The more games you win, the better people you will get to play with, so beginnings are always painful.
