Why not just make dorans ranged only?
or at least it's passive

There are melee AP champions that would really not appreciate not being able to buy this starting item.
It's not immediately clear to me which dorans item you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure there are both ranged and melee examples of 'intended' users for all 3 dorans items.
cuz its a sword? Ranged champion don't shoot swords with their guns?
Can we stop asking to make items melee/ranged only? Its too restricting and it enforces metas.
