The Gameplay update team needs to do a better job at following up on gameplay updates.
The title is pretty self-explanatory. I'm excited to see gameplay updates to champions that need it (remember 90% ban rate Kassadin?), but I feel the gameplay update team straight up nerfs champions into oblivion and lets them rot at the bottom of the win rate statistics for months and sometimes even years before any of these champions receive any type of buffs. Examples include:
He was reworked, saw LCS play for a few weeks and immediately nerfed into the ground. He's been borderline unplayable for the past year and nothing has been done about Olaf. The rework was obviously a failure and nobody on the team wants to address the mess SmashGizmo made of Olaf.
Skarner originally was terribly nerfed, that he was almost worse off than Olaf. The update team took MONTHS before he even became viable, although recently he's received attention, it was 6 months too late.
Remember the beast Gragas? Yeah, nuking people with one q-r combo was not fun, so he was reworked. Since his rework he has received almost nothing in terms of buffs. He's also rotted at the bottom of the win rate charts for a year now.
I don't consider the recent Kass/Veigar changes yet, because we haven't seen enough time, hopefully over the next two patches these champions can be alive again, seriously though those nerfs broke veigar's knees and riftwalk became riftstep.
The gameplay update team also refuses to make changes to those champions who they update and immediately become the god tier of that specific role. Examples include:
He ruled all of season 4, Riot refused to nerf him and he became god-tier, it took an entire season for them to nerf Lucian, now he's trash compared to Sivir/Graves/Kalista/Corki.
WAs OP and still is OP. She ruled the top lane, then she moved to mid lane, now she's in the jungle and her core issues have still not been addressed. She frustrating as hell to play against and the rework did nothing to solve the underlying issues.
I hope that somebody on the update team sees this and relay's the message on that many of their updates are not successful in solving core gameplay issues, while some updates are kept at god-tier for patches, and in Lucian's case, for an entire season without significant nerfs or changes. This is a core reason why the majority of the community does NOT want Riot to rework their main champions, because they either make them god-tier for half the season or they nerf them so far into the ground that it's impossible for them to compete in the games current and futuristic state.
