New Abyssal Scepter Sucks

They are turning it from a strong early and late game item that synergizes extremely well with assassins because of the flat penetration it offers, and Thornmail for tanks because the synergy.

Now, the item is a shitty early game item (who the fuck rushes % based penetration?) that offers very little AP. The item is now a mid-late game item made for tanks... because who the hell else is going to make use of the horrid stats it offers and 4 second pulse?

Please Riot, either leave Abyssal the way it is... its fine the way it is... or implement your shitty tank-loving item as it own separate item.

No I just think the new item is more situational than before. Also it suits a new playing style, now you won't just be losing lane and rush abyssal so you don't die. It forces players to think more about the laning phase, they won't make as many mistakes now, they will think and play better knowing that their old 'go to' item was changed where it won't be as useful on most meta champs. I actually really like what Riot is doing with the metas/champions/items I don't know if it is intentional but it sure is making the community better at playing the game before.

I'm going to have to call bullshit. If they really cared about the community "getting better" they wouldn't have nerfed every single assassin in the game. Kassadin got totally shit on and lost his silence, Talon lost his silence, Zed just got his ult nerfed, Leblanc keeps getting screwed with, Kat has been nerfed a few times since S3, Blitzcrank just got his W changed so he stops making noobs cry themselves to sleep at night. I included Blitzcrank to this list because if he grabs you, you will most likely die come late game.

If anything, they are making the game worse because they are further decreasing itemization. Are you an AP champion that needs armor? Buy Zhonya's. Are you an AP champion that needs MR? Buy Abyssal Scepter (not anymore though)

Are you not AP but you need armor? Randuins, Frozen Heart, or Thornmail are your only options. MR? Tons of options, none of which are suitable for AP champions. Yes, AP champion need better itemization than AD champions. Fact. Tanks have a lot of great options already, this new Scepter just adds to it. AD champions already have a load of damage items, and AD champions scale far better than AP champions due to the nature of auto-attacks (BotRK + LW, Crits, etc...) AP Champions are heavily reliant upon CDs and do their damage in bursts. They need items that provide defenses while at the same time providing offense. This fucks AP champions out of their lone choice of MR.

But when you list off all of the nerfs, sure they aren't actively trying to make the community better through that, that is just balancing. But, by doing that it isn't Riot trying to baby sit the community, in fact these buffs would actually have the players of those champions play better if they want their old results. Another thing is why are these champions nerfed but still are doing good in game, I have had good scores will all of these champions post-nerf and so has everybody else.

Its just sad seeing even less itemization in the game. Abyssal Scepter went from being a solid-pick for ANY AP champions that need MR, to being a situational pick for tanks/bruisers. Now, AP casters do not have a single item that gives them MR... unless they build GA?

I guess picking banshee's wouldn't be bad, I mean imagine lb without one spell in her kit, that's q (which deals a huge amount of damage), w (huge amount of damage), and e (op slow and root). Building a defensive item on anybody isn't bad, it's just suiting your needs, not every carry needs to deal a lot of damage and one item won't make a difference.
