Blame riot for nerfing the hell out of 
cause people in low elo can't handle him, and now i will get payed when urgot get nerfed cause at first i was main 
before the release of the dumb item called 
then the cycle of banned/pick started so i switched to urgot as he was my secondry pick and now here i'm with the same stupid cycle.

Wrong, before the sudden nerfs to yorick, for months yorick one of the top 3 that counter urgot. Cause he can play safe and out scale him plus wall is just a big blocker for urgot E and W.

He was literally nothing in LCS & League Academy Summer. I know Urgot can be strong, but your statement isn't helping the fact that he was non-existent in the previous competitive scenes.

BearExperiment1 votesI've played against Darius a few times as Urgot, and what I find is Urgot wins very early on, but if Darius doesn't feed he wins the lane a little later on. Save Darius pull for when Urgot pops W, and it stops him from shooting for like 2.5 seconds. End of the day the Darius player will need to be half decent at dodging skill shots.

Z3Sleeper3 votesIdk about that one. Urgot doesn't have much to say about a landed Roar -> Decimate. Good Sions will space it out to where Urgot can't just flip him during his Q.
Also, Urgot guzzles mana way faster than Sion, who can essentially spam E and Q haphazardly.
Additionally, should Urgot ever kill Sion using his E and Q, he has no way of avoiding a good 300+ damage from Sion's passive.
What's good here though is that Urgot scales immensely with level vs high health immobile melee targets. Gaining tons of max health damage from his passive and having access to a 25% health true damage execute. Black Cleaver helps too. But Urgot's power vs Sion comes after the laning phase, not during it.

Kled loses lane to a lot of champs but Urgot is a lane where Kled comes back fairly easy. And this thread is 3 months old, a lot of changes have happened since then.

As someone who has played hundreds of games of Urgot, that is not true. He has many counters, those counters just aren't very good right now.

Damage > Utility/Healing > CC. This is the usual order for maxing abilities on any champion. You prioritize CC last because it is CC. It will be good at any level. You prioritize damage because base damages hurt more when you actually put levels into it. Urgot's Q will still slow at level 1. His W will do piss damage at level 1

The scaling on his W ensures that it does piss damage at all phases of the game regardless of if you max it. The value of the ability is the dmg shield and the utility of triggering echoing flames rapidly.
If you max Q, it means you can Q caster minions and then finish them with one auto (or a well aimed echoing flames). Which is waveclear, which is extremely important to solo lane champions. It's also decent poke.
Which btw, if you watched OP's video (or just skimmed through it) you'd notice that every single urgot max'd Q first, then W, then E (and obviously taking their ults when needed).

Most teams find it safer to pick optimal champions that they already know. It isn't optimal usage of their time to practice an underplayed champion who might turn out to be garbage when they could be using that time to be better with what they already know is good.
Time is a valuable commodity when the stakes are high and there is only so much time to practice.

GeminiRune3 votesInteresting enough, Urgot's presence spiked from a mix of the Asian Games and late LPL split and playoffs til now.
It was said on LPL broadcast that Urgot has been dominating scrims and such. Guess now it's starting to click even in patches where there was stronger priority beforehand (8.15 and the LCK playoffs basically).
Looking at the entire series at hand, Urgot had a 100% presence rate. So if this isn't a sign of anything to come idk what is.

As LCK are played on outdated patch, I don't even know if this trend will stay or not for world but one thing is sure, urgot was always strong into heavy melee team (need to remember that cho/sej/ali/braum/grag are all popular champ in pro atm and they all need to run toward you to do the job, giving urgot easy E>W)

but he only started to be pick/ban today, before today he was never picked or banned
it's as if pros got a revelation in their mind and realised urgot exists
