If being afk and not playing the game is a reportable offense, why is it acceptable at the start?

I see so many people afk in base/at turret before minions spawn when there is information that teams need to know.

So many times do I have my other buff/entire side stolen at level 1 because my top laner decided to go afk instead of playing the game and gathering information at our team.

You made a commitment to a game. As soon as it starts, it starts. Its not time to make preparations, you do that BEFORE the game.

But its only acceptable when the game starts. No 'they aren't at the computer' you made a commitement for a game and you should be there when it starts. You aren't playing the game and being afk is a hinderance to the team, so it should ABSOLUTELY be reportable, its no different than any other afk.

because some people actually have league in the background while it's loading or after they picked their champions and runes. People sometimes have to do stuff like answering a phone call, the door, they got the need to pee, they got thirsty and realized that there was nothing for them to drink or someone in their house decided to ask them about something or they asked someone at their house about something. Does it suck that they aren't there for the first minute or are generally distracted? ofc but that doesn't mean much of anything. If they stole your buff at lvl 1 then chances are you would have lost it anyways unless you ran from your previous buff to where he is. You have a mid laner that is able to put a ward on buffs as well you know?

Meanwhile junglers afk in bush waiting for first buff and get killed. Been playing against double long sword Pantheon multiple times. I wish they could have the same experience i have gotten before.

A) If you know they are starting your buff level 1 you can go over and contest it instead of continuing to do the other buff. B) Its not just the top laner whos afk. It can be anyone. This causes problems. C) You made a commitment to a game. If it's not an emergency I don't care you dont just get to gimp your team hard then get off scott free. D) Its a double standard. Its just as important to be wary before minions spawn than after. It shouldn't only be acceptable to go afk in certain timeframes.

there is a reason why you have the option of remaking the game if someone doesn't show up after a certain amount of time. I don't give a damn if i started the game. I will go do whatever the hell i have to do or present itself at the moment. I am at my house so anything can come up and distract me. I am not going to be an ass and say to someone "no i am not getting you a glass of water i am playing league and i made a commitment to this game" i will just get up and give the person a glass of water. There are a million reasons to not be ready right at the start of the game. Heck some settings could have changed without your knowing for whatever reason and you are fixing them or maybe someone told you before you started playing of this great new settings that would make the game run better in your current PC/laptop. I am not going to pee myself just because "i made a commitment to play the game", just like i am not going to be thirsty while playing the game which would just distract me and make me not play to my fullest just because "i made a commitment to play the game"

You can go and report them all you want, Riot is very unlikely to do anything about it because there are so many things that can happen just before the game starts

Just like there are many thigns that can happen in the middle of a game too but its not acceptable then. Being afk at the start is just as bad as not connecting because you aren't doing anything. The team is down 1 person.

and guess what? if you are only missing for about a minute or so nothing is going to happen to you regardless... if you decide to just straight out leave then yes you are going to get in trouble. Sorry but Riot is not going to punish someone just because they aren't doing something for a minute or so. You can report them all you want, nothing will come out of it

if you decide to go baron/dragon/push a lane when one of your teammates isn't around then it's your problem not theirs. People already afk farm in a side lane while their team is doing baron or pushing some objective it literally no different. If they comeback in any reasonable amount of time then i don't see a single issue. If they decide to afk for 5+ mins then sure i will be mad but if it's around a minute why would i care?
