I don't understand how to play this game anymore.

Ranked is a cesspool. I play Udyr tank because we're lacking a tank. Goes well, 3 lvls up on the enemy jungler, then my team literally runs down mid 2 by 2 and die and I lose. Ok. Next game I go assasin Wukong so I can carry. Enemy has a Soraka and I'm useless and I lose. Ok. I play Soraka, everyone's feeding, and I lose. Ok. I play top, get camped, my team still feeds and I lose. Ok. Then the ranked system says oh this guy lost few games in a row, let give him an easy win, so I win. Then I lose few games in a row again and the the cycle continues. Idk what to do anymore. I doubt my picks constantly, every new fucking champ jumping around like it's urf. Just... IDK..

Yeah the most annoying thing is going on a lose streak for no good reason and than getting this stupidly easy game.

Disembark8 votes

Sometimes it feels like I just expended all my luck in 1 game.

Like game 1: Bot lane feeding super hard, everyone else even-ish but bot lane rolls over game Game 2: Top lane feeding super hard, everyone else is even-ish. Everyone groups to shut down enemy top, but your top keeps feeding. Game 3: Mid laner feeds hard. You pretty much can't help them because 4/0 Vlad will enjoy more tasty treats coming to his lane. Also he goes around diving every other lane easily.

Game 4: EVERY SINGLE LANE WINS SUPER HARD, 24-0 super stomp. Your jungler is 5 levels up on enemy jungler, somehow you get a 14 minute baron and enemy team FFs at 15.

I'm like fucking damn man, why couldn't I just get ONE of these matchups spread across 3 games.

The Oasis1 votes

It definitely doesn't feel particularly rewarding when I lose 7 games in a row, then in the 8th game we kill 3 of them at level 1 and breeze through the rest of the match. Then I go back to losing.

Welcome to top

Pratically the same as me, but mid.

LordGeovanni1 votes

mid is the easiest defendable lane from ganks tho

General Esdeath 1 votes

Not at all the same, because a lot of junglers climb out of bronze/silver by camping top lane for herald and split pressure.

It's not just you.

It started with this trash rune update that I don't think Riot even tested, now they're buffing champs that were fine if not OP and leaving other champions in the dust. They must be holding the special olympics at Riot HQ because they are doing some fucking amazingly stupid shit. It's fucking pathetic. I used to enjoy this game but Riot is doing as good as they can to fuck it up. Goes on for much longer I'm toast, no point in playing.

Back in old days i used to look at patch notes and believe in balance team. I also used to main my favorite champions as almost everything had potential to be really strong if mastered. Now i just play what is toxicly op and feel sad for people who took 2nd tier champion, I always think ''lel its not your fault you are losing, what can you possibly do when my 1 hit is almost half your life''

Yeah game is definitely not the fun it used to be, at least for me. I loved when it was actually considered a strategy game and diversity existed.

Donkay201 votes

It means to record your games and watch them over again to see what you did wrong, usually referencing a guide or something alongside it.

Sraeg20134 votes

It sure helps when your ADC decides to stay safe at all times and getting out-damaged by literally everybody in the game instead of playing the actual game, Or when you get out-stated by Caitlyn with RFC, Or when you realize your main champion has no runes with positive winrate.

I sometimes do watch replays of my games, for example "wtf that ability didn't hit me" only to realize it fucking didn't.

ExaggeratedToast1 votes

{quoted}

What does that even mean?

It means make a habit of downloading select games (your choice) and watch them play out, like you watch lcs. the difference is you see how the enemy team plays against you and you can call yourself out on your own mistakes and improve, you can see your enemy mistakes and see how you could have taken advantage and improve and you can see your teammates mistakes and improve on how to recover (if at all)

The outcome might not be helped, but a better chance or a stronger attempt might have been possible, like maybe a roam or a play on dragon. who knows maybe the bot lane would have been 0/5 instead

either way, the point i'm making, you can only improve yourself.

Douglas Funnie8 votes

Don't take offense to my statements. The main problem you are facing is your over eagerness to succeed by copying other players.

See a Soraka on the other team and they win? "I must play Soraka next game!" Your team doesn't have a tank? "I must play a tank!"

You need to find your own style and play champions you feel most comfortable playing with. Have only 1 or 2 champs in your champion pool and play them at a consistent level. Focus on your own play.

DarkRooster7 votes

It used to be like that, it used to be like that back in good old days. Now join the dark side and play something really OP and be brain dead with OP champions and snowball as fuck.

What can you do, you are literary 3 hit against Patheon, Lee, Wu, you can't kill tanks but they sure can kill you under turret any time, i had this Miss Fortune game where i went to enemy and Q him for 90% life. You are dead in 2 sec against Talon, Twitch, Kog, Tristana and so on, Xayah a bit longer but you ain't gonna kill Xayah so she will finish you off. Ezreal can win game in any of the fucking lane and especially jungle.

I tried to have my own way as back in old days, lost miserably until i joined dark side where we abuse what is op till enemies fucking uninstall. Games are decided first 10 min, i would rather be victorious side, idk why am i still playing this game, there is no joy abusing wins out of brain dead champions and brain dead meta, it isn't even achievement, it isn't anything.

Douglas Funnie3 votes

Yeah, I agree. There's just to much damage and RNG elements in the game. "Runes reforged" was an attempt to make League of legends a casual game. By adding randomness in the game, skill-gap diminishes. So, an inexperienced player can equally play against a higher skilled player. Riot has made it easier for players to last hit too. Less skilled players do not have to practice last hitting anymore.

Pre-season 8 is just a total mess. The balance team has done a hack-job attempt to do anything about one shotting players and even towers. There's really no counter-play anymore. The game has turned casual.

The reason why I wrote the statement above because it still applies. Why must you play a tank if the current meta is burst damage? You know what I mean?

ampheon1 votes

As a person who still cannot last hit I beg to differ

Douglas Funnie1 votes

Well, Riot made it easier to last hit.

"With the removal of masteries that brought a bit of PvE damage to the table, we wanted to ensure that champions didn't feel overly weak against lane minions. We will be continuing to evaluate the power of this as we see adjustments to Runes and champion changes.

That's to compensate for the loss of that 5 damage mastery on mages.

Douglas Funnie1 votes

It's been 2-3 months since we started this conversation and it turns out I was correct. Lmao, you really thought it was a good idea to reduce the skill-gap by adding damage for last hitting minions? Riot finally realized making it easier to last hit minions was a horrid idea. The in-coming patch 8.4, Riot is removing the extra damage from ALL CHAMPIONS. Yeah, that's right. They didn't do it to compensate mage champions, they added the extra damage to ALL CHAMPIONS. look at the official notes.

Extra Damage to Minions

We were worried that the removal of old runes and masteries would make last-hitting too hard, so we gave all champion attacks a bonus 5 damage against lane minions. Over time, it's become clear this wasn't necessary, so we're reverting that change.

Except it had a larger impact on mages than ADCs who took Doran's blade, and bruisers, who either took Doran's blade, long sword, or had enough base AD to oneshot melee minions after two tower shots (some mages actually have to prep by autoing melee minions before they went under tower).

5 damage on everyone doesn't have an equal effect on all champions, despite seeming that way.

I have several problems with your statements. First off, what randomness did Runes Reforged bring? I mean, I just don't see it. I agree it made it more casual but the "random" aspect.. I don't see where you got that.

Then.. Why must you play a tank if the current meta is burst damage? Are you actually serious? Tanks are the prime counter to burst damage, literally. They are kinda countered by DPS, yet they even strive in DPS meta.. just because the best thing you can get to protect your source of DPS is.. a tank. And when damage is super high, it means CC means death. So that makes tanks strong too. CC tanks though. Not juggernaughts or low CC tanks.

Is a team game. If you are not a team composed of 5 friends. This game is not fun at all

A season or two ago this wasn't forced, but now it's of fkin forced, the monkey behind dynamic queue found another way to make this game a team fk fest. Before we had viable strategy of split pushing in every division( bronze-challenger). Now if you pick a split pusher above platinum rank it's an auto loss. And that split pusher only has to be Jax, before we had yi, udyr, nasus, tryndamer, Aatrox etc. who single-handedly win some of the games. It's so bs now them forcing the meta. Before we had devourer jungling, at least top would get a fkin fair 1v1 chance. Now it's like who plays 2v1 and camps the shit out of lanes. And every fkin champ has a fkin dash now, + useless stat of tenacity that is useless half the fkin time because of knockup's and stuff. The game is going such a bad path now. I am not against diversity but that diversity should result in diverse strategies to win the game, but no they still all result that you have to win team fights and build so that its a better team comp.

DoktorKaiser3 votes

Well tbh splitpushing was a cancer inducing strategy that had little to no counterplay unless you were playing as a 5 man squad. I agree about the rest though.

You would think that but theres some things you forget.

Never underestimate your team's ability to feed.

You get one reduced lp cost dodge a day and that dodge adds up. Even if it was free you only get 1 dodge a day and YOU CANNOT DODGE IN SERIES.

A good comp means little if people are unable to perform with that comp. Example: Could have a good teamfight comp all day but is meaningless if your team doesn't teamfight, Could have a champs that counter their carries but is pointless if people are getting caught out too much.

If your team can feed so can theirs. Statistically if you dodge with a worse comp, you have a better chance of winning. Having lp but a shit mmr is worse than having a good mmr and lower ranl.

Honestly, I just don't like the new keystones. They took out runes from the game and it fucked the whole game up. It also removed a ton of the diversity of play styles from the game for the sake of simplicity. If they wanted to make it simple, they should just do what DOTA did and remove runes/masteries entirely. This whole preseason is the biggest clusterfuck of a mess I have ever seen in League and I have been playing for the past 4-5 years.

Yeah you're playing too many roles/or champs.

meanwhile, i'm winning playing nocturne top........

zZ KanKuro Zz1 votes

you are unranked, you just play normal games and aram, are you rly trying to compare your games to Diamond games, too look someway superior?

Serika Zero1 votes

albeit my elo is not diamond, its around low to mid plat and it works just fine there

likewise, last season, almost everyone was "akali mini rework made her trash!!!!!" meanwhile, a one trick (well, two trick) player got to rank 1 in na playing akali mostly (and irelia second).

as for why i'm playing mostly normals and aram and bot games, its very simple playing ranked game gives me an adrenaline rush that its not healthy. I get to emotionally invested and playing ranked games is 'heavy' on me. despite all that, i've did this in the last week before the season ends, just to prove myself that i can get to low plat http://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=Alteraris

yes, that's almost all games as akali top in the last week noct top is quite similar, just ad.

so, yes. "Meanwhile i'm winning with nocturne top" still counts ;) you need to understand your champion and what they do, and how they win games, in order to win games. and yes, i won with nocturne vs aery teemo before aery got nerfed and it wasn't that bad..........

edit, meanwhile: http://eune.op.gg/summoner/userName=useless+nihilist

look at his udyr win ratio on s7. Does this look like someone that understands that champion? he suffers from a very simple thing "i got no idea how to win with xxxx champion" and the meta changed, so, its not really his fault until he learns how to wins a lot on his champions. some people start faster, others are a bit slower

in the op's case, he is slower starter. So, he just complains. Also, pointing at him being dia5 for a bunch of seasons with ~50% win rate (more like 49% in s7)

so, yes, i don't take his word as if it were the commandments of god

zZ KanKuro Zz1 votes

about the adrenaline i agree is not healthy for anyone i did not play more ranked games after I reach gold because of it, however I rly cant understand why are you so proud about winning as nocturne vs aery teemo because if he is playing FULL AP teemo and you just survive until 6 while trying to buy serrated dirk you will just one shot him, after that is just repeat.

Serika Zero1 votes

umu, the point of playing ap teemo is to bully the enemy out of cs/exp also, blind = i can't auto attack you, and my only non auto attack damage via skills is my Q on noct

aery teemo was one of the strongest top laners until aery got nerfed (due to double proc per 1 auto attack and blind to deny cs) and what you said its true "wait till 6 before you try to kill people" but at the same time, noct has a very limited power spike (until everyone gets like 3 major items). Also, first item on top noct its tiamat, not dirk ;) so, that tactic won't work

zZ KanKuro Zz1 votes

so i dont play noct but last time I notice he had a spell shield, do you know that if you dont step in teemo shrooms the only thing he has to break your spell shied is his q right, therefore he will do 0 Q damage to you and he will not blind you.

Serika Zero1 votes

yes, you are right, he has one :) but at the same time, the moment you activate your ult, a big vrooooom goes across the map and the screen turns dark (for the enemy). so, at that time teemo can just use for R and he can sit on it, it will usually have enough time to activate from the vrooooooom sound until you dash on him. but, he can also choose to not sit on his shroom.

so, it becomes a mind game for you to block his blind. Think of it like a coin toss, a 50/50 fight. Which is why you would like to avoid trying to 1shot him until you get duskblade. And that's why you will just get tiamat, clear the entire wave (assuming no cannon) in a Q passive aa, tiamat, aa (so basically, around 1 second), and then roam around the map. Winning other lanes for your team ^^ or at least, trying to.

assuming the enemy support is good, noct is very difficult to play in late game (like most assassins), so, you don't want to take gambles like that (1 shotting teemo) or rushing item 3134 . While that item does indeed gives you the ability to kill him if you outplay him. Tiamat lets you get farm and at the same time, try to make plays across the map, making it a much safer choice ^^

Also, since teemo will be bullying you, starving you out of farm and exp. He should be like 1 or 2 levels up on you (more base stats) to help him survive and have more items/gold. Tiamat just ensures you won't be starving anymore with super fast wave push (you can even take like 3-4 aas from teemo while you clear, and then run away). Also, the active damage and AA reset helps with assassinations ^^

But that's my point. You can defeat meta picks if you understand why your pick is strong and why it can work. As long as you play according to that win condition. I only know a few heroes, so, i can't give advice for udyr or wukong. But to outright dismiss them as trash from the start and impossible to win or "top lane useless" is kind of bad policy. And yes, you will lose game when your bot lane gets crushed, but that doesn't always happen. Sometimes its even, sometimes your bot lane wins. And you have the ability if you choose to play something that can roam (even maokai or malphite can roam, like, recall at 6, roam bot, ult there, and then tp top) to influence other lanes in the even scenario case.

zZ KanKuro Zz1 votes

I agree with you, i started played teemo when he was garbage (before the new runes) and he was the reason i climb, despite being called "useless" for some bronz.... good players of course.
