Yasuo's Lifesteal

The Ecdysiast··2 votes·1,464 views

I get that he has 10% less damage on crits because at some point they become guaranteed. But he should also have reduced lifesteal because it applies to critical hit damage, so every time he crits he heals for 400 hp. Any thoughts? (Nevermind the massive Armor reduction his ult gives)

What?

FIrst off, of all his problems (be it OverP or UnderP) lifesteal certainly isn't high on the list. Second, am I understanding you correctly you want him to suffer -10% damage on critical hits in addition to suffering some kind of Lifesteal penalty, such as "lifesteal is -10% less effective"?

The Ecdysiast1 votes

You're forgetting that he can buy critical damage runes to undo that, AND HIS CRITS ARE GUARANTEED. It would be okay for him to have the full lifesteal if he would only have the usual 60% percent that anyone else would, but the thing is his crits are crits every time with just that. -10% damage has no effect when it's actually +200% damage because he crits every time.

You're forgetting that crit damage runes are shit and you have to take crit chance runes to equalize the losses from the Shiv nerfs.

And do you also realize that it isn't just 10% less crit damage, but that critical hits deal 10% less total damage. What this means is that a regular crit does not deal 200%, it deals 180% (200 X .9) and with an I.E. he deals 225% instead of 250% (250 X .9) Oh and his Q deals 25% less bonus damage on critical hits.

The thing with Yasuo is that he can go against ranged champs because of his wall and dash but he can't actually fight another melee. Tryndamere or Yi will rip him to shreds because once they hit late game, their crits are dealing full 200-250% damage while his are dealing less. He just reaches his damage cap significantly faster.

I literally did all the math in response to someone else's comment. Scroll a little bit. You can't use Yi or Tryndamere in this argument considering that:

  1. Yi, unlike other options, gets 5 attacks in the normal 4 frames. That starts a new thread about how Yi's passive shouldn't apply on-hits.
  2. Tryndamere is literally invulnerable during the fight.

Give an example of a champ that doesn't require focus with heavy CC to stop.

I would assume this is because you have no armor items...healing for 400 is a huge overstatement.

Right, forgot about that thornmail buy every squishy champ gets.

You're an idiot. I've played Yasuo since his release and even I know that it's too strong for him to be allowed both guaranteed crits and the full lifesteal that comes with hitting the enemy for double your AD every time.

Here is the thing, Yasuo is a melee champ. That means that in theory, he needs a way to heal and not be at 35% hp once he gets to the enemy adc/burst mage. Lifesteal is the melee's method of surviving and is balanced on MELEE champs as they need some way of surviving untill they can get the ranged champs into their clutches

Also, are you sure you have played Yasuo since release? Any competent Yasuo player knows that crit damage runes are a waste of I.P.

Not to mention your logic of 10% crit damage not having an effect because he crits every time. How does that make sense? Its like saying exhaust doesn't matter in a fight because the adc still can autoattack anyways.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

No, you're wrong again. What you're saying actually helps MY argument. In pointing out that an adc can auto during exhaust, you give the point that , while they can still crit during it, their speed is lowered so the number of crits they can get is reduced.

Using that, think of this (we'll ignore armor and IE for the sake of simplicity): 50% Crit chance for 4 attacks with 250 AD should average out to 2 crits (500 x 2 = 1000) and 2 normal attacks (500) Totaling 1500 damage over 4 attacks.

Yasuo, on the other hand, at 50% Crit chance, actually has 100% because of his passive. So 100% crit chance for 4 attacks with 250 AD averages out to 4 crits (500 x 4 = 2000) Then we take the damage reduction from his passive into account: (500 - 50 = 450) so then 450 x 4 = 1800. That's 200 more even without his Q. Keep in mind he's also tied for maximum melee range. THEN we can factor in his Q, which by the time you have that much AD will have a base of 100. At that point they do more damage than his basics, while still applying all on-hit effects at a high range. We will mention that after 267 AD (with infinity edge) his basics will hit harder than his Qs. But now let's put lifesteal on that. Same setup. We'll give them both 10% lifesteal, as the lowest amount you'd have with a single tier 3.

First: 500(per crit) x .1 = 50. So 50 for the two crits and 25 for the two non-crits in those four. 50+50+25+25= 150. or 450 for 30% LS. Yasuo: 450 x .1 = 45. So 45 for the four crits. 45 x 4 =180. or 540 for 30% LS.

A 5% decrease in LS effectiveness, while it would hinder him with only 10%(cut to 5%), would at 30%(cut to 25%) make his lifesteal EXACTLY as effective as the other character. 450 x .25 = 112.5. 112.5 x 4 obviously = 450. Which looking directly up, shows you it would make his lifesteal EXACTLY as effective as the other case, while still dealing more damage with his critical strikes.

Check and mate. It wouldn't be a nerf that cripples him, it would be a balance change that does nothing to the fact his 100% crit chance does more damage while making sure he only heals as much as opponent with the same AS, LS, and AD.

You played yasuo till release, failed horribly, faced ppl who actually cared to learn him and not just jumping on the bandwagon, then you cried, then you whine on forums about a champion that is on the verge of being terribly weak just because ppl like you like to have nothing to learn and all served.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Let me guess, English isn't your first language, is it? I wouldn't say he was overpowered if I failed with him, you numbskull. I'd be asking for buffs. I'm posting on the forums because I KNOW I'm not the best player, and it shouldn't be so easy to win with Yasuo. Learn to infer.

Base damage cannot crit.

While this may have been a viable way to nerf him in the past, he really doesnt need any more changes aside from what he already got. Like this would have been a decent change had he not had his health/other base stats nerfed. Id be ok with reverting the last change and implementing this one.

Note: I do not play yasuo, so take this with a grain of salt
