@RiotRepertoir, any plans for some substantial lux buffs?

Rexxiee··8 votes·2,597 views

Shes currently at 47% wr in plat + and its going to get even worse when you buff minions hp and its going to widen the gap between her and mids that can actually shove waves well.

Give her E a bonus % damage on minions mechanic? Lower its mana cost a bit? Those changes alone would help a lot without increasing her champ dmg.

No immediate plans, but that could change. I do think she's less powerful than she could be, and I generally agree that it feels like she's playing a waveclear game with different rules than a lot of her competitors are playing.

she is terrible competitivelly and in high elo

the problem she has is giving no real strength that other champions do not have

if you want to buff lux you should add something in her kit

She’s also playing a poke game with different rules than a lot of her competitors. She should have early game draw backs for having undodgeable poke in the early game.

Lux poke is fairly easy to dodge given how slow both her Q and E move. I suppose if you are used to using your minions for cover she definitely messes with that playstyle, but her spells are EASY to dodge.

It's not undodgeable. Playing against Brand or Zyra feels infinitely worse. It's a meme at this point that you can't dodge it, you have to understand her opportunity costs for using it and whether or not hitting you was even worth it for her instead of attacking the minions.

If she's midlane, she's using her E to farm. Don't stand on top of the minions early game. If she attacks you when you're not on the minions, you've gained lane priority over her for the entire laning phase. She's pushed in... farming under tower. You're roaming and making plays on the map.

If she's support, she's using her E to harass you. Stand on the minions. Force her to steal minions / inefficiently activate her spellthief procs. It pushes the wave into you, but you should expect to lose lane as gracefully as possible against a Mage + ADC and play toward the mid - late game if you don't get outside assistance from your midlaner and jungler.

Think about if from Lux's perspective, if she's hitting you and farming... that is 100% your fault. If she's hitting you, she's not farming if you play it correctly. If she's farming properly, you can out sustain her mana costs and occasional poke directed at you.

I think that Lux needs a mini rework, all of her abilities are pretty powerful individually but her kit overall just doesnt hold up in the current state of LoL.

Her main problem right now is that she is low reliability with extremely high cooldowns. This means that if you miss a single spell you're often screwed but at the same time her spells are individually quite powerful so there isnt much room to buff them. It also means that she is worse the higher elo and skill your opponents are as dodging a single one of her spells often gets you a free kill.

I think there are 2 places where Lux can be improved and perhaps have her kit modernized a bit.

  1. Her E, the size of the aoe is pretty huge making it hard to miss and thus difficult to add anymore power to it. I understand that the reason for this was probably to add some reliability to her kit however at the same time giving a mage nothing but high CD abiltiies doesnt really work out all that well. I think her E can stand to be redesigned, perhaps a lower cooldown ability with a smaller aoe.

  2. Her W and what it means for her identity. Shes mostly played as a burst mage, even though Riot labels her as a utility mage, shes just a burst mage with a shield. For this reason Riot should sharpen her identity, make her a straight up burst mage and change her W or make her more utility focused.

What i dont think should change in any rework is probably her ult which is the most iconic and fun of her abilities

Upvoted this. You hit the nail on the head with those points.

...What about viktor who also shares the same winrate.

I play both Viktor and Lux.

There's a good reason for Viktor's low winrate; he's insanely difficult to pilot. I often do very well with him and I don't think he's weak at all right now except for his obnoxiously passive laning phase. However, once he gets to his mid and late-game he more than makes up for his weak early game.

Lux is a different story. I do think that people don't abuse her kit as much as they could (mostly failing to use the zoning on her E and lining up skillshots properly) but she's also extremely simple and one dimensional and that makes her very easy to abuse. Viktor is not as easy to abuse since he has tools to both peel these champions off him as well as duel most of them if played out correctly. Lux makes up for that in burst, of course, but her burst has such telegraphed counterplay and it's so low for most of the game you're not capable of killing people because they have tools like Zhonya's, Heal, Cleanse, I won't even pick the champion if their mid hasn't picked yet and Vlad/Fizz are open.

that's still accumulated for in his overall win rate, you can even check viktor one tricks who have MASTERED, viktor still have about a 50% win rate, whereas other champs like veigar, xerath, katarina players tend to have above 60%. And even if he does scale late game according to champion.gg its 40+ minutes until his win rate actually becomes positive. Which is insanely long to wait for. Whereas lux actually has a positive winrate mid game that also peaks late. FInally other champions that are also arent even "hard to pilot" scale harder and have higher winrates throughout the game. Ex. Veigar, Vladimir, Cassiopeia(who has the highest single target dmg in game), heimerdinger, etc.

When you work on her keep in mind she is extremely unfun to play against as a support because of how reliable her E is, especially against marksmen and supports with 325 move speed. I get she struggles and it's probably fair she be allowed to shine, but she can quickly be fun killing when taken as a full AP support. And this isn't even going into the fact that I need both hands to count the number of times I have had a full AP Lux support not even start a support item because they just want kills. I think she should be made into a burst mage for mid, she has proven to not really be viable both mid and support.

Any chance you are willing to talk on my post? I know you might be busy at times, but its an issue that I believe deserves some talk. I'm very open minded, and would love to talk balance, but it seems I never get the chance to on any posts or comments i've made (Sure, I made a Trynd one long ago and I later regretted making it and realised I went the wrong way about it). This might seem like pleading or begging (believe me, it isn't. I never really beg for anything), but I just want some closure on the particular issue.

I made a similar post yesterday, but took it down since I posted it and focused on way too many points than necessary. Sure, its about Yasuo, who gardeners a lot of attention when talking in terms of buffing or nerfing, but I feel like nerfs meant for the old rune system are harming him in the current system at the moment in my opinion. I'd just would like to know from the actual Live Gameplay balance perspective how he fairs with the system, and if there are any talks about buffs later down the road or not. EDIT- It can be over client as well if needed. Just seeking answers.

do you have any context on why you re-put the total attack speed on guinsoo? i remember it's been changed back on pbe but on the patch notes it says it got changed from bonus to total...

LSmaster161 votes

This has been mentioned elsewhere but what about nerfing e damage and then making it scale up the longer it sits on the ground? That buffs her waveclear while also nerfing her extremely hard to dodge poke in lane.

Ultîma1 votes

Her pick potential is pretty nuts. Honestly I don't think anyone would mind if Lux's E would start costing less than her ultimate. I'm not a Lux player but I know her mana costs are antiquated.

RavenHusky1 votes

There was that Ult cooldown refund buff that showed up last Thursday on the PBE before getting reverted, but I do hope to see more of a straight buff instead of a "win more" buff.

Linna Excel1 votes

Maybe riot could just revert the changes to how her ult works. In the past with enough CDR you could easily ult every wave if you needed to. Now if you don't kill a champ, you have a longer CD.

Mordepool1 votes

47%. Your champion could sit on that for 3 years. Balanced

Nerf her Q and give her more waveclear.

The OP is also the same person who complained that Kai'Sa needed 550 range to be "good". Just let that sink in.

Lux does not need a buff i understand that your a lux main or wha t ever so but it is not neccessary? She intentionally has bad wave clearing because thats what she pays for doing as much dmg as she does to at champs at long range. thats like giving garen a gapcloser it just doesn't work out. Play brand if you want aoe, lux is fine now especially the e+r combo she does is very unexpected burst(like 500-800).

heck i have seen a lux 3 shot adc at lvl 10 she q'd e then ulted and left haha! Ashe
