So these Akali changes.....

They're all pretty much nerfs, and option removals. Honestly you may as well revert her at this point since you guys clearly don't know what you're doing with this variation.

She's underrated and I get that, but these changes don't make any sense.

You're removing her ability to E into Shroud, you're making her R point and click; which removes any of the skill it has right now, her passive is straight up horrific before any damage items now (meaning she's going to be horrible in lane), you can no longer extend your Shroud's duration and to top it all off her Q doesn't even get a scaling cooldown....it's legitimately going to have a 4 second cooldown at rank 5, with no compensation. Nice one.....

I should also mention that the point and click R1 essentially turns her into Akali v1, so what even was the point of the rework?

tl;dr Don't go through with these changes, they are horrific.

Suggested changes:

  • Remove the movement speed Akali receives from passive when walking backwards, increase the movement speed she receives when walking forwards (out of the circle)
  • Slightly increase Akali's energy refund on passive hit.
  • Give Q a 4 second cooldown rank 1, and then it scales to like a 1.5 second cooldown rank 5.
  • Lower W's cooldown by 2-3 seconds rank 1.
  • Lower the amount of time Akali remains visible after an action slightly (right now she shows once and just insta-dies).
  • Lower E's cooldown slightly at rank 1.
  • Increase R1's travel speed slightly.

Done, that's Akali fixed. After that never touch her again.

"- Lower W's cooldown by 2-3 seconds rank 1.

  • Lower the amount of time Akali remains visible after an action slightly (right now she shows once and just insta-dies)." Oh yeah, let's buff one of the most broken abilities in the game. Seems like a good idea.

Those aren't massive buffs. Also emphasis on "slightly".

I understand it's really good, but some slight buffs would definitely be alright.

They are targeting her absurd safety and making her more of an assassin. The changes make complete sense by greatly improving and simplifying her all in kill pattern and nerfing her ability to wall a lane and be difficult to gank.

Yes

but the numbers are all nerfs, looking like riot has no idea what they're doing the changes are good, the numbers aregarbage

But they're nerfs.....you need to use a give and take approach if you're going to nerf aspects of a champion.

Moody P2 votes

I'm not denying that. Her numbers definitely need to go up if they go through with this.

But the changes mechanically are pretty good.

I guess, but I really dislike her losing her E into Shroud and making her R1 targeted.

Actually if this update on Akali goes through, she's going to be more bruiser orientated, since she would be getting less overall damage / AP scaling but higher energy restore (W gives 100 energy at all ranks, passive gives 40 energy). If you do the maths, previously, she could only throw 2 Qs at level 2, but now she'll be able to throw 3 Qs. In other words, they're trying to make her easier to deal with by reducing her burst damage and putting her on the bruiser side which is more predictable and thus easier to counter.

Turning the first R into a point and click will definitely give her less mobility to escape though, which I think is the biggest nerf on the entire list.

can she still spam 4 q's whenever she wants to? I truly want to know how that one got through play testing and why it's still a thing.

Śhunpo1 votes

Except she doesn't. What WOULD make sense is to make her Q 4 seconds at rank 1 and then it scales to go down to 1.5.

Dope Solo1 votes

Or maybe it should be 8 secs and scale down to 5. So that she isn't clearing waves with no option to trade.

Śhunpo1 votes

Outside of laning phase her Q really isn't that great, so I think that that's when it's fair for it to effectively have a 2 stack system to it (since she only has 200 energy and each Q costs at least 80).

Sure, it clears waves, but have you seen mages? She kinda does need her Q out of laning.

Inside of laning though I could live with ANY cooldown since it's a great ability in lane.

Mages have mana.

Śhunpo1 votes

They do? I've never noticed recently with all the Lost Chapters, Manaflow bands and Luden's Echos.

Oh, and Corrupting Pot. as well.

I REALLY hope these changes don't make it through to live servers. This is absolutely ridiculous. They can just delete the champion from game at this point.

Can I get a link from where these changes come from please?

Not sure how to feel about her changes.

My favourite style of play with Akali was always more bruiser oriented and although I couldn't get as much practice as I want on this version of her, i always liked the fact that she's good in high elo and very bad in low elo, so as long as they keep that aspect without making her pick ban in pro, I'm game.

The passive is TOTAL AD, not bonus AD. It still does a good amount of damage.

Her early game is a lot better with these changes. She has massive energy regen compared to before, so she can use her Q a lot more often. Her shroud is on a shorter cooldown, and her E does more damage. Her sustained damage has gone up a ton.

They mentioned why they're removing the W-E interaction: it's not skillful. You can miss your skillshot and still get a free engage or escape. Burning a different resource to remove the skill expression in her mobility is not skillful.

Making the R1 point-and-click is important. She loses the AoE stun, but gains more mobility. She stubs her target, then moved 300 units past them, giving her a free passive rotation and a max-range Q. It works with her kit better.

Śhunpo1 votes

Base AD is far better than total AD (which I guess they knew since they removed that change from her passive entirely and instead focused it on Q).

Massive energy regen? Sure, but past like level 9 it's worse.

W->E is skillful, people just don't use it properly.

As for the point and click, there's a reason why she was reworked, that's all that needs to be said.

No, it's just straight-up better, at all levels. She gets 40 energy per empowered auto and 100 energy from her W. Flat. All of her new energy regen is larger at baseline than her previous energy regen at max rank/level.
