This pre-season isn't as bad when...
Solo queue was taken away and replaced with flex queue. Remember that entire year where skill meant considerably less than it used to?

Oh god how can anyone who visits the boards forget. Nothing can compare to the amount of hatred dynamic que got. About every 5 minutes the entire gameplay board was refreshed with new hate for dynamic que. It was never ending and went on for the entire season. I hope to never see that much hate ever again.
Don't worry..Soon™.
If I remember correctly it was "i need to play against xyz amount of premades thats why im stuck in silver cry". And I bet they still stuck there.
I'm more worried about playing with premades :¬) There's something special about being ganged up on by a bunch of friends who don't want to criticize each other, even if you're the one carrying their heavy asses.
Or the troll premades who would all int just to bait you into reacting to try to get you banned.
Oh yeah, in a lot of the 4-man premades theres that one AP Zed who forgets he's not just trolling his friends.
I've noticed that too. In premade groups, if a premade laner fucks up and goes 0/10, they did nothing wrong and all is the jungler's fault. Botlane loses? Blame the non-premade support. Also, you get flamed for not following up on plays that were only communicated through their personal discord, no pings or chatting or anything. I am getting very tired of premade jungle-support that don't do anything to warn me that they are going all-in for a gank, then flame me for not tagging along with their amazing synergy.
but one riot coder was basically going "NO! I WORKED VERY HARD CODING THIS AND I REFUSE TO GET RID OF IT"
You mean ghostcrawler. And its not about coding. Its about giving noobs and casuals a way to get higher ranks without any effort. Unfortunately now this approach is still here but more hidden than before.
Lol they split the queues...you can't really complain about the solution they put in place. Dynamic queue is just as much of a mess as normal games with more troll picks. Getting a high rank is freaking impossible if you don't get placed there to begin with.

Honestly I feel it had to do more with the coding, the meetings, the designing, no doubt doing all of that took hours upon hours upon hours of work, and if i had to work that hard on a project for a company just to be told "yeah we are getting rid of it" i'd be pretty pissed. Just sometimes it doesn't matter if you put a lot of work into an idea, at the end of the day, a shitty idea is a shitty idea and no amount of hours put into it is going to fix that.
Rather i think it was a way to incentivize people to play ranked together. From the numbers, people play significantly more when they are playing with their friends. Maybe it was even an incentive for friend groups to have their own ranked team and try to get better together. But it ruined so much for solo players. Flex improved the problem, but I don't like going there either. I get matched with Diamond players as a high silver, which can be cool for improving but often gives quite unfair games. Apart from much higher skill players, there are also a ton of players that play flex when they are tilted and don't want to keep tanking their solo/duo rank, resulting in massive flame.

Forcing people to play with friends is a bad idea.
I have friends, i like playing with them.
They are silver and i'm Platinum 3, because they play the game casually and i tryhard the hell out of it.
So, basically, when we play, either we get matched against silvers and i just stomp the game in <25 minutes or we get matched against gold/plats and they go 0-9 in lane.
Do i have fun playing with them? Yeah, even if we lose is fun.
Do i want my rank to depend on them? no thx.
I agree, I was just commenting on what it think Riot was reasoning when they introduced it
To be fair nothing was as bad as when riot removed solo queue.
“Solo Queue won’t be coming back” - Riot Pywff
I wonder if he still works there, they fired lyte for saying it was coming back eventually
Nah this season is horrible af also
but comparing the 2 dumpster fires called this preseason and last season is like saying well breaking your legs is better/worse than breaking your arms....at the end of the day they both suck lol
Assuming skill means anything now? xd
Dynamic Queue was the worst season. Each season there is always a ton of balance hate, but the only hate that I have ever seen continue for an entire season was Dynamic Queue. It is also one of the best examples of how if people complain enough, Riot is willing to change things. Unfortunately, it took waaaaaay more complaining than it should have and it took a whole season to fix.

No. Dynamic queue was never removed... The matchmaking was just split into flex and solo/duo.
People LIKED the new champ select. People HATED the new matchmaking.
To riot, they were one and the same and wouldnt remove their facelift, and it was only after they gave us duo/solo queue specifically that the hate died down.
I mean the issue wasnt it took very long for riot to realize people couldnt change it. The issue was how do you change how the entire ranking system works... mid ranked season. They TRIED to make it work for a while, but everyone hated it. They probably figured next season wouldnt have it after like 4 months.
but then it was the system, now it's the game itself :C
Dynamic queue wasn't even the worst by itself, Rito's PR straight up lying to the playerbase was.
Surprise Orange Essence nerfs anyone?
I still don't understand how we are getting more skin shards in order to compensate for the loss of OE per shard. We don't get any through leveling and the honor capsules were already out/are half champ shards anyways.
It is just a lie. Just like BE charts and all the other stuff that Riot was lying about. Dont try to find logic and reason when there is nothing to find those in. That "increase" in skin shards doesnt exist. I got first skin from hextech chests after +2 months. I got jax skin that disenchants for 100 OE. Now Im gonna get 90 BE champ shards for another 2 months or more from hextech chests and if I happen to get honor capsule I will get not much more anyway.
IP nerfs in disguise as "new AMAZINGLY GREAT BE SYSTEM"
Unless you play more than ten games daily it's buffed not nerfed.
Whatever you say bud. All i know is that over the past year i had accumulated tens of thousands of IP even though i was spending IP on useless icons and every new champ and shit, while since preseason started i've lost BE overall by only buying zoe (6.8k) and the ward skin (6k).
Its been like a month... How the hell can you compare? Riot has shown their numbers and math for proof. Show yours or stop complaining.
Show yours or stop complaining.
I did just tell you my numbers. Quoting myself...
over the past year i had accumulated tens of thousands of IP
and
i've lost BE overall [since preseason started]
I'm relaying my experience that no, no it was not buffed. I used to be accumulating IP, and am now draining BE. Show all the math you want but that is pretty incontrovertible. So far i'm -3k BE since preseason started and i'm not buying everything in the store with it the way i used to.
You said thousands you did not present any numbers or proof. Please do so.
I don't have screenshots from the beginning of preseason to "prove" it to you so you'll have to take my word for it (99k to 96k BE), i didn't expect to need them.
Ok and what does that have to do with it? You got a 6300 champ. Champs dent BE there's a reason they'd total cost over half a million BE. Also, I got Zoe too. I had 1200 BE. I leveled up and got 2000 ip. The other 3100 came from a project champion capasule. One fucking level gave 2000. And you expect me to believe you? That you have lost BE this season? That you somehow managed to not at all level up? Im not even level 40 yet and ive gotten close to 10000 BE level ups alone. You are playing bullshit and im calling your bluff. Don't fucking lie. If you don't like the new leveling system, thats one thing. Make an argument that it feels unrewarding, that you dislike it. Do not make up lies and bullshit.
One fucking level gave 3000.
? Bullshit.
A Leveling Capsule contains champ shards with a BE value of either 720, 900, 960, or 1,240. (The average value is 910 based on drop rates) A Milestone Capsule (every 10 levels) contains champ shards valued at 1,980, 2,160, or 2,220. (The average value is 2,120 based on drop rates)
The very most you can possibly get at any point for leveling up is 2220 BE. Why call me out when you're just going to lie?
That you somehow managed to not at all level up?
I have leveled up ... multiple times ... you can see that from my boards profile ... it shows my level is 38. My first few levels were 720 BE (they have since changed it so the min is 810), and almost every level up since has been 810.
Do not make up lies and bullshit.
Practice what you preach there bud.
Ur right mb forgot i had a fiora shard saved froma prev level up, amd the 3100 value is from the project shard, i placed those next to the wrong ones. But 720 minimum x 8 levels means you, at minimum earned 5760 BE. I didnt lie i made a mistake.
Wait i disnt have them at the wrong ones, i said 2000 for lvl up and 3100 from prpject
Well, you can edit your post but i had you quoted.
math is fake. 24.11.2017 I bought 2 4800 champs and had around 950 BE. it took me exactly 47 games untill yeasterday to get a little over 5000 BE (I had 4380 BE before the last lvl up yeasterday). I did the math and I did count amount of IP I would get using old IP numbers which are lower (few last patches before preseason IP gains were increased) and still I would get around 5500 IP. Now with those increased numbers I would get surely 6300. So It took me 47 games to get 4800 BE champ even though I had 950 BE already. This is a freaking joke. This system is worse than before. Plus IP boosts were worth much more than XP boosts are worth now.
Ummm no. No FWotD and assuming you won every game, you would, at most have around 4700 ip in 47 games old system. And thats if u got the highest amount of ip each time. The average ip gain on win was 70- 90, losses were 20-40. You get around 200 xp per game now, so at low levels(30) you'll level up about every 10-15 games which nets you 810 be minimum regardless, or less than that and a discounted champion. Hence why it is only less be if you play more than ten games a day.
You just pulled the numbers out of your you know what. Check the facts first because i have used the numbers made by riot that you love so much. I took an average game lenght for this patch which is much lowef than in the past and ip scales off how long the game is. My math was done considering 50% win rate. Stop using fake numbers unless you go for to be riot employee then keep going they will hire you insantly.
It wasn't good, but it wasn't really a surprise. It was spread out a lot. Maybe not clearly enough, but it wasn't a secret. It was mentioned in 4 different places AND the client. First mention 3 weeks before preseason, final week there was notice.
Yes, I remember it. When they announced it they said "in a week or two we will introduce a pure solo queue alongside the dynamic". I was actually looking forward to this. Then Rito was like "just kidding, lul, stay with dynamic". The outcry was really big and TBH that year I was barely playing and I only played one ranked game, and it was by mistake when a friend of mine invited me and I didn't see it was a ranked.
Solo queue was taken away and replaced with flex queue. Remember that entire year where skill meant considerably less than it used to?
Dynamic Q was so bad they had to give us Hexchests and Practice Mode to make up for that screw up!
Dynamic Queue was a fucking mess, mostly because Riot didn't listen to us and insisted "nah more people like it" and then Riot pulled a Lyte and gave us ZERO statistics, surveys, petitions, etc that supported this statement. Even pro players TALKING LIVE TO RIOT STAFF (like Scarra at round table) said it was a mess.
This preseason is more of a balance issue.
Nah, at least the game felt playable, now games are over at 5 minutes. This preseason is the worst.
Holy moly, don't remind that season. That was a huge mistake made by Riot. At least they admit it eventually. Disgusting season.
No they didnt. It was something in lines of: "dynamicq didnt work as well as we thought, though it was liked by most players. We kindly give you both dynq as flex and soloq. Kneel and thank us for being so generous"
