In my opinion this is the worst patch Riot ever released since patch 4.2

Beats29··83 votes·5,601 views
  • Kassadin completly destroyed (I really don't understand what was on your mind with this 250 rangegut lol. But ye, you care about PBE feedback right?);
  • No Nidalee tweaks;
  • Terrible jungle tweaks, with no help to jungle diversity, it makes it even worse;
  • No return of the machete cost to what it was before;
  • Jungle is fun this season, but still incredibly hard to clear with no help to other junglers;
  • No Kalista's E cap to monsters;
  • Elise, Kha or Eve still on a terrible spot, some worse than others of course;
  • No Azir buffs (he was too strong I admit but last nerfs hit him too hard);
  • Zed is still a infinity bully in lane with no counterplay in that part;
  • Gnar/J4 combo still an issue due terrain changes;
  • Lack of Summoner's Spells diversity on each lane, even some Singed players pick flash over ghost for example;
  • Lack of jungle itemization;
  • Still 0 use to Zz'rot Portal;
  • Still no MR items possible to buy at level 1 (laning vs LB for example and rushing Athene instead gutting her no?);

etc etc.

I'm quite happy about Zilean and maybe (again, maybe) about Veigar, but generaly this patch was terrible in so many ways, specially about Kassadin and jungle.

Note: Mentioned patch 4.2 instead 4.1, my bad!

Could be worse, they could have nerfed Sona again.

Goes off to read the notes again

Beats2913 votes

They didn't nerf Sona due to ultimate skin. Must care about the $$$. That why we had the "bug fix" on stats last patch man. They will have some bug fixes after some time, don't worry.

Don't worry about Sona. She'll get nerfed again after her ultimate skin gets past the profit curve.

DomainSpecific37 votes

I think you are mistaken. In my opinion, this is what's going to happen.

  • DJ Sona gets released. Riot waits around 2 weeks (1 week for the discount to pass + a little bit more)
  • Riot: "Sorry guys, we overnerfed Sona, here are some buffs".
  • People will buy the skin at the more expensive price.
Pika3101 votes

Such optimism, but no. Fearless' hatred for Sona is genuine, not artificial. That coupled with the fact she's never had a buff in the entire history of her patch notes, the only thing planned for this dead horse are more beatings.

Junkο1 votes

Why the downvotes? It's true.

Ezeal and Udyr both got a ton of buffs and bugfixes on release of their ultimate skin.

Pika3101 votes

Except the situation is different for Sona. They killed her 7 full months in advance instead of a month after. Fearless has a genuine hatred for Sona, he's not just acting on one of Riot's typical underhanded business tactics.

Riot balance team surprises me...

Increasing the price of changing jungling items hurts low clear junglers (Trundle, Nautilus, Sejuani, Shaco) more than tier 1 junglers (Vi, Lee, Jarvan). I have no idea why they would do it.

Same with the range nerf. Tier 1 junglers needed it to land their skillshots. Tier 2+ junglers needed it to get closer to people and do anything at all (bye my Trundle/Shyvanna).

The Queen Viper2 votes

{quoted} I have no idea why they would do it.

Obviously they want to ensure that there will be more boring #LCSbigplays and not some "out of meta" interesting and refreshing picks, silly.

Remlap12234 votes

Ok, Shaco and Trundle? Really? Shaco can still take blue buff without a leash, and Trundle has more jungle sustain due to the increase in health of the jungle monsters. Sejuani recently got buffed to deal %health so she could clear the camps earlier. Can we do some fact checking before we just vomit out arguments?

DomainSpecific4 votes

I did not say they are weak, bad or unviable, I said that they are being hurt by these changes more than tier 1 junglers.

As Shaco/Trundle, I usually buy Ranger's until I get fed or buy Tiamat, then I change to Chilling. As Sejuani, I usually change to red enchantment later in the game to help me get reduced dmg from carries. As tier 1 junglers, I get chilling smite and keep it the same for the whole game.

Can we do some basic reading comprehension before just vomiting random facts?

Remlap12233 votes

You also said, and I quote...

bye my Trundle/Shyvana

Everyone complains that they can't clear the jungle post third camp. It sounds to me that you simply lack the skill to jungle properly, because I can still make jungle Wukong work. I'm not getting executed by the chickens playing as jungle Hecarim. Do I think that Lee, Vi and J4 are too powerful, yes. Do I think that the jungle is instant death for any champion that isn't them, no. Not even close. I'm sure saying this is going to get you and your buddies on the forums to whip their penises out and start jerking off in a circle, and down vote this, but it's something that needs to be said. Hyperbole isn't going to fix imbalance, but it's going to discredit a valid argument.

Junkο2 votes

Shaco doesn't buy Rangers. Shaco can solo every single jungle camp with full health (except maybe Raptors which are hard to set Jitb for)

Yeah well, Kassadin had mobility, damage and was a goddamn tank. He could use a season on the bench.

Junkο1 votes

So just like Nidalee, Riven and Lee Sin?

Feathermane3 votes

Those guys are conditionally hard to kill, Kassadin is hard to kill mathematically. How hard Nidalee or Riven are to kill depends on the spot where the fight is taking place, the cc and Grievous Wounds you have at your disposal and numerical advantage, which makes some fights easily won. Kassadin is generally hard to take down, like Irelia. Hitting him sucks, not hitting him sucks, running sucks, chasing him sucks, that champion sucks.

rip Veigar

Beats295 votes

I don't call it RIP to Veigar to be honest. Yes the stun delay seems bad, but lower W cd plus better stacking on Q isn't that bad. Need to be tested of course.

DrCyanide16 votes

Q buffs will be the only way to save him. W cooldown changes don't matter when you still have a 0% chance of landing it on a champion who isn't stunned, and guess what Veigar lost...

Rrett13 votes

I'm a top tier veigar player... and boy let me tell you why you're completely wrong!

As is, if you didn't hit your cage perfectly, if the enemy had .2s before they walked into it, they'd dodge it. The most you'd be able to do is trap someone inside of it now. Anything above silver and you might stun them 1/10 times, if you're lucky.

As far as my level of play goes, if they aren't stunned, even if they are trapped in cage, you're not hitting W. It's just not going to happen. If I miss my stun I don't bother W'ing as it's just not going to hit. It's now a spell solely for farming minions.

Now onto his Q. For a very good reason, the majority of veigar players think you're supposed to farm your Q. You're not, if you have time to farm your Q, you're wasting mana, Wasting time to harass, or Wasting time to roam. Basically you shouldn't actively use your Q for the reason of farming. I cast it on minions for last hits just for convenience and not for the AP it gives. Every veigar I see who actively farms their Q I laugh at because they waste mana and give me a free lane and they're not going to be having consistent games, basically rolling the dice on whether they're going to win. Another reason why it's a bad idea to farm his Q is because he's a mid game champion who was completely reliant on the bonus ap. The most bonus ap from minions you can get in 7 minutes is 34, just 34. That's if there's no one else in lane. 34 is not worth wasting veigars strongest points in the game which are early/midgame.

The reason his late game is bad is because everyone gets a banshees and makes his E un hittable, but now his E is unhittable anyways so it doesn't matter. His whole game is going to be poor now.

With an average base movement speed, you can travel ~300 units in .75s. They increased E's range by 50 units, so they also nerfed it in it's chasing and catching aspect, so only if they're close enough to be already killing you you won't be hitting your E. Veigars strongest attribute was his Catching, which is Gone.

If I took the current veigar into a ranked game in diamond, where I could previously get 0 deaths and 10+ kills and secure the game by 10 minutes, I'd be unable to hit my E 95% of the time, I'd NEver hit my W except maybe in team fights, and my Q can now be dodged and is fairly unreliable. The ult is useless now so I'm not even going to mention that because that was just a nerf to kick an already dead dog.

Veigar is gutted. Everyone who has the slightest real experience with veigar also agrees, and every opinion above plat has been that veigar is pretty much useless.

know how to counter nid? LEARN TO DODGE THE BIG SPEAR THAT IS CLEARLY VISABLE

You are missing my point. I don't ban Nid because I can't dodge the spears. I ban Nid because :

  • She currently clear the jungle way too well and can effectively invade anyone very fast.
  • Her dueling/chasing power is simply insane. You can't dodge those point blank spears and it's all she needs to execute you after. Trying to run away? Lol, she will catch you.
  • Her movement around the map is just too fast since she can pounce infinitely + MS in bush.
  • On top of that, she got sustain and can greatly increase the effectiveness of her ADC. That AS boost is huge.

This is why I ban her. Also, nobody likes playing against her. There is a reason she is almost always among the top bans as soon as she becomes popular again (currently, she is the #1 ban).

acepil0t16 votes

You forgot the manaless low cd garen ult and the fact that she can just walk away to deal extra damage with spear.

Kitten of Evil4 votes

Agreed. She's completely un-fun to play against. And judging by the number of double-Nid games I've seen lately, a nerf would not be a bad idea.

Budupops8 votes

how do you like veigar nerfs?

Beats295 votes

I don't, I simply have no knowledge to complain about it without trying him out. Kassa I commented because the compensations are useless as well having other champions with similar or bigger gap closers with less counterplay and/or damage. Not to mention some without costs.

Budupops9 votes

You talk about Kassadin compensation being useless, which is indeed true. Now just remember the straight up nerfs were supposed to be Veigar 's "compensation" for DFG removal.

Beats295 votes

His kit was changed, Kassa was just numbers, don't compare please.

I'm not saying it was good changes to Veigar, I just said they aren't changes on which I can talk without testing them. What's so wrong with that? I can't test him first to have a better opinion before complaining? Is it forbidden?

Mandang03 votes

Community complains about mobility creep and a small group of champs at the top.

Riot nerfs one such champion, in a way to curb mobility, and now that problem is supposedly that they hit the wrong one...

Beats2910 votes

The problem isn't nerfing is mobility. The problem is that the compensation simply mean nothing. For example, if Riot made the nerf but decreased the cost of afterward riftwalks for example. Or decrease the reset of Riftwalk to cost less mana. Just an example.

Also, you have several other champions with more damage/mobility and at the same time with less or even 0 costs.

Rinky Dinky2 votes

Its not like Morde got buffed into being viable again or anything...

The Queen Viper6 votes

He didn't... he's still the Master of Trash.

Junkο1 votes

Yeah that hard CC he got surely helps him against the mobility creep... oh wait Well at least he got that dash/blink he needed to be via-... oh wait Well at least he has a nice MS boost when running towards a W'd ally.... oh wait he is a solo laner

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Yeah rumble's hard cc and dash really help him to stay in this meta.

Oh wait

Junkο2 votes

Rumble has 3 hard slows, one of them being AoE. He also has amazing AoE damage and a game changing ultimate.

KaisadiIIa1 votes

And a small movement speed buff on his Scrap shield.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Morde also has that on his "Shield".

Speeds up 2 people, and provides both 30 mr and armor.

Catch is they need to be running towards each other, which is very easy to work around considering how Morde teamfights.

Junkο1 votes

But Rumble can actually escape ganks with his MS boost on a really small cooldown and 2 slows, 3 if you use ultimate as last resort.

Mordekaiser needs to move towards the ally for MS boost, that isn't gonna help him escape ganks at all. Also Morde in teamfights is usually in front of the team. So again his MS boost is completely useless.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Wrong actually.

The w can be cast on minions, allowing him to run towards them to escape a gank.

Saying his movement speed boost is useless is very ignorant.

Also, a good morde would not be at the front of the teamfight for the entire fight, he would just get blown up.

Junkο1 votes

You do realize Morde autopushes the wave to the enemy turret by default? So how does casting W on minions under the enemy turret help?

Also why are you building glass cannon Morde especially after the removal of DFG and these "buffs"?

Rinky Dinky1 votes

None of the shield buffs went through

Meaning his shield still scales off of damage.

If you arent building him glass cannon, he is useless -_-

I can now only assume you didn't read the patch notes now lol

Or play Morde...

Junkο1 votes

Actually i used to main Morde in Season 3 and early 4, and played a few games recently(though not after the "buffs". E+Q with Wota/Gunblade (whichever you prefer) is enough to fill your bar from empty to full most of the time. Also just casting ultimate usually refills half.

Red9For LEON22 votes

Not to mention they took Mord, who was already in a bad place, and made him even worse. You didn't give him any mobility and you took away his damage. And what did he get in return? His w can be cast on himself and another unit, but it still does less total damage!!!

Rito tried to make him a bruiser, but he is still far squishier than almost all the other bruisers! Yeah, his passive makes him more durable than squishy champs like many mid laners, but unlike other midlaners he has to get right up in the enemy's face and STILL doesn't do the damage of other close range champs! He's still going to get melted in teamfights, only now he can't do the damage to champs he used to! At least before his "rework" he could go in, cast his ult, do some damage and pop Hourglass before he got melted. Now he is completely reliant on his teammates to finish off his ult victim. He has no kill potential himself. His best attribute is the minor MR/Armor buff of his w. Even his Q blows now! His single target Q only has a 0.66 AP scaling! A melee move with no debuffs, no crowd control, and at its most powerful only has a 0.66 AP scaling.

WTF!!!!!!! You did such a good job with Sion. How did you fuck up Mord so bad! And all because his character design looks to "bruiser-ey" to be a burst mage? Either change him back or rework him from the ground up. He's worthless as is. He doesn't have the damage to be a midlaner and doesn't have the mobility/crowd control to be a top laner. Everywhere he goes, he is a failure. Thanks for ruining the lord of Metal rito...

league is trash1 votes

Am I the only one that had almost no complaint with the Kassadin nerf? I know that It was a really bad nerf, but I'll never forget how many times I've been killed by a kassadin at level 6 when I have boots and flash and a million other ways to try to run away.

I'm not sure about the -250 range though, having his ult be just a hair longer than a Lucian E seems a bit underwhelming.
