Nasus' Q is too strong.

The Ecdysiast··8 votes·3,075 views

I know anyone disagreeing will just say "not if you stop him from farming." But the problem is, not everyone plays draft pick to know they have to counter Nasus like that, and if even one of the other members of his team has some skill, then you can't focus on him as a jungler.

So as it usually goes, he just gets tons of stacks, build nothing but tank items, and then has the same tower-taking potential as an ADC.

Here are my thoughts: Either:

  1. Make his Q NOT able to hit towers, like Rengar's. or
  2. Make it lose half its stacks upon death, since he gains three per unit kill anyway. or
  3. Give it a much, much longer cooldown so that a player can't simply build no damage items and have tons of damage.

Do you have any proposals that won't make him one of the weakest champions in the game?

Mat7itan5 votes

Honestly if they made his q cost more to use (especially late game) it wouldn't be nearly as broken.

I Kill Commies5 votes

Lose half stacks upon death? LMAO hahahaha, would make him literally the most trash champion in the game.

And your entire basis is on him being too strong in blind pick. That immediately makes your points invalid. This game is balanced around ranked/draft pick.

The Ecdysiast3 votes

You act as if a Nasus who is countered is unable to stack at any point in the game, which simply isn't true.

considering most people spend 20 minutes just to get 300~400 stacks and death just removes half of it, hes gon spend 10 minutes just to get all that back but wait.. what if you die again thats about 30 minutes of wasted time, zero progress, no contribution to the team what so eveer and the games pretty much over half way over, srsly your team is fighting a 4 v5 while you cant even stack, wtf wat a trash champ.... knowing nasus loses stacks on death, you can be sure that those 4 man ganks while he is stacking will happen more frequently and that doge will hardly be able o defend himself from even 1 person anymore now he's even worse, he probably wont even have 100

idk man, i better be getting 20 stacks per minion or some shit if you're gonna turn him into the living embodiment of mejais

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Oh no, you might actually have to build him as a FIGHTER to do damage, instead of a pure tank who has a fighter's role and double tankiness because he doesn't have the CC to just be a tank.

Leti the Yeti1 votes

oh my, thats absolutely right, you do! good thing he doesnt thus not doing much damage! tank's have the durability of tissue soaked in jizz anyway

ahem. but no, even if you built damage on him, he still sucks no ad scalings no steroids to his AA or AS at all no burst no dps

noooothing, hey.. maybe people build full tank on that guy cuz he has no scalings ;l

If you have no health Thornmail is useless.

While I disagree with ppl saying Nasus's Q is too strong, read the description for thornmail - it reflects basic attacks, not abilities.

Nasus's Q is an on-hit effect. That means while it's a spell, it's almost completely identical (functionally) to an auto attack. The biggest difference is that spell shields (Sivir, Banshees) will block it, in addition to things like Pantheon's passive and Jax's counterstrike. It's the same reason lifesteal applies to Q.

His team basically plays 4v5 for 25 minutes. If you can't use those 25 minutes to your advantage then you deserve to the game. Even after that, you send one of your guys top, because Nasus is a split pusher. After that you play 4v4. Since you had a massive advantage for the first 25 minutes, you shouldn't have a hard time fighting their team 4v4.

Option 1 is fine, the others are too punishing, due to the fact that early game would be unbearable for any non-flawless Nasus to survive. The stacks are all he has late game+Wither and his tankiness, so cutting that dmg in half would be cutting his usefulness in half. However, I see no reason for him to be able to stack buildings like a madman, I guess it is the same reason why Tryndamere gets to take away an AD item completely away from anybody late game.

Cindikle1 votes

I wouldn't say he's OP. Any CC, even slows, hard counters him.

If I was to nerf something on him. I would rework his passive to restore a % of his total HP.

This way a Nasus that gets good Q farm doesn't lifesteal tank the world. And a Nasus that doesn't get much Q farm isn't shut down as hard because he can't keep his HP up.

First option isn't horrible though. I just don't think it'd really change too much on him.

I think the stack thing is a flawed concept anyways. What if it was something like Trundle's Q?

"Nasus steals strength from his enemy, increasing his total AD by 10% for 10 seconds. Stacks up to five times." Synergizes well with the bonus AD his R gives him.

Riot doesn't do that because they want to give as much variety as possible. They would want you to pick Trundle for the stats stealing and Nasus for the late game stacking damage.

Aww Kat1 votes

dont let him stack his q

Leti the Yeti1 votes

adc crits like 700 per shot AFTER resistances applied 2 shots per second decimate entire teams

nasus Q's 800.. which is more like 400 after resistances are applied every 2`3 seconds hardly decimating 1 dude

who's too strong?

Nasus is just a tank with above average tank damage

The Ecdysiast2 votes

Right right, I forgot about all those burst mages and adcs who just stack armor so they can fight Nasus.

Leti the Yeti2 votes

right, lets completely forget about the front line who peels your gap closerless ass away from the backline and you dont need to stack armor.. like just having 100 armor will turn 800 stacks into 400 stacks ;l

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Higher rate of fire is different than being able to both tank and destroy a tower. And do remind me which squishy characters get up to 100 armor at any point?

Only Play Darius1 votes

When you are losing to the enemy team, you are supposed to build defense, even on squishies. I can't tell you how many times I have been able to kill a fed Vayne because I built a thornmail as ADC.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Are you going to tell us how many times you did that to a Nasus who also had Thornmail? Be relevant.

Only Play Darius1 votes

That's the thing about someone who is fed, they usually get arrogant and don't build ANY defense items.

Leti the Yeti1 votes

Graves

hardly matters, evn 70 armor will gut abuncha damage off cuz nasus dont got any pen ;3

The Ecdysiast1 votes

You're also forgetting about is E. Which, need I remind you... CUTS DOWN ARMOR.

Leti the Yeti1 votes

hmm yes, so it does well no worries, scuse me as i fall back on the more important issue lmao

right, lets completely forget about the front line who peels your gap closerless ass away from the backline

now dont say that shits not a thing, otherwise people wouldnt not be out there with pitchforks and torches raging on about oppressive ranged cancers, mobility creep, and the commonly forgotten team peeling...

The Ecdysiast2 votes

Right right, I forgot about all those burst mages and adcs who just stack armor so they can fight Nasus.

And you bring up a great point. AN ADC CANNOT CRIT A TURRET. But Nasus can deal ADC crit damage to structures as a tank, which simply should not be allowed.

Leti the Yeti2 votes

you forget adc's have a significatly higher rate of fire than that of nasus Q

FastAsHeck1 votes

but adcs cant tank an entire team

Leti the Yeti1 votes

and neither can tanks! lol

FastAsHeck1 votes

well they can tank 3 people for long enough for their team to win the fight

FastAsHeck2 votes

thats the thing, he is a TANK. he can build pure defense, but unlike every other tank he has a built in damage stacking mechanic that would really suit a fighter but is just overpowered on a tank. the problem is not his Q destroying half your hp bar, the problem is that

  1. you cant kill him before he uses his Q to get rid of the half that is left on your HP, because he is so tanky that you can only kill him if everyone focuses him (and you just dont focus the tanks)
  2. wither is just op, click on someone and they are practically snared and have much less AS, combine it with Ghost that the Doge always runs and he will catch you even if you flash a wall.
  3. built in lifesteal??? in laning he can survive forever, it is literally impossible to send a nasus to base unless you kill him since he has his flask+3 pots and his lifesteal passive and will be back up to full HP at no time. in teamfights his Q restores half his HP.
TheFrozenIsles1 votes

The thing is your wrong. He is a fighter( primary role) and tank(secondary role) like many fighters. This is one of the biggies trouble with the game. It so hard for people to tell what is a tank and what is a fighter. They can have the same build of items as what ever good on a tank is all so good on a fighter.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Well no, the one wrong here is you. He is a fighter only because of his Q and the possible iceborn gauntlet. (MAYBE Hydra's if you don't mind not getting stacks) The problem is that he can match the build of someone who is purely a tank, and do damage to both champions and turrets without worry of dying.

Sukishoo1 votes

Get a thornmail and anyone can easily stop him.

FastAsHeck1 votes

option 1 is good, its kinda silly how a damage dealer like rengar isnt allowed to use his empowered attack on turrets but a tank with huge damage (without building damage) is allowed. option 2 is really bad, i hate nasus but this would rmeove him from the game. option 3 is kinda reasonable although the issue remains that he will not be able to farm with a long CD so he wont be played.

Leti the Yeti1 votes

rengar's just an exception there is a massive list of champions and their on hit abilities that damage that affect turrets which means rengar is the special one, not nasus

rengars Q has to be changed cuz the only reason it doesnt is probably due to that outdated mechanic wher he get get 3 Qs in a row which will decimate every turret on the rift but thats for an entirly different topic >.>

another difference is rengar was burst and nasus was slow sustained damage rengar will kill you nasus will eventually kill you, during that time frame, more counter play can happen ;l

The Ecdysiast1 votes

So it's wrong that Ren would be able to use 3 Qs in a row, but it's okay that Nasus can do three Qs within 9 seconds to completely destroy a tower? Shouldn't you have to build AD to do that? My point's just that, since the reason they don't let Rengar do it is because it does so much damage so fast, Nasus should also be subject to that rule.

OR BETTER YET LET'S JUST LET RENGAR ATTACK TURRETS LIKE THAT And you are right, every other proc works on turrets besides Rengar's.

Leti the Yeti1 votes

i could nit pick about how people not only triple q but got crafty with quadra q and then after that it would only be a brief period before unleashing another 2 q... yeah, you probably would decimate a tower faster than nasus

while nasus, doesnt have to build ad for it, he does stack for it which does require you to have like 600 or 700.. or 800 stacks to actually wreck some turrets unless you afk'ed farm for 40 minutes, would take alot longer to do than simply buying abuncha ad items which isnt possible anyway cuz you would have pushed all the way to their nexus and they did not bother to stop you at all

items scale significantly faster than his stacks does btw...

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes
  • If mid & bot are losing while Nasus is the only one winning, he won't be of much help even with 300 stacks at 10+ minutes. Happened to me before, felt so useless.

  • Option 1 is the best suitable choice for me to halt his splitpushing tower as a heavy tank bruiser. Imagine him with item 3512

  • Option 2 is pretty retarded & dumb, since you're only promoting him to be an afk farmer if he dies frequently, since his Q is his only damage source.

  • For option 3, again, like option 2. But if it were the case, his Q base damage deserves to be buffed.
