Morde's pick rate is nearly as abysmal as his win rate
I think there might be something wrong with the champion. Just maybe.

Fotm. Months over. Now that the obvious OP BS got nerfed in his kit we see an accurate representation of his performance
They won't tell us until Christmas is over. And in the last devblog they pratically copy-pasted the post from pre-rework with their intetnions.
Well, I'm still going to harass the Champ-up team in their upcoming QnA's. Gotta throw us Morde fans a bone T^T
Count me in too.
I'm with you man this is really silly.
I feel bad for people that like playing morde lol.
all 2? kappa
I... just want my old mordekaiser back. I want my unstoppable immovable behemoth that demands respect. Not... Whatever he is now. I don't want to be bot lane, I don't want to have a support, I just. Want. To. Mage.
It was predicted before that he would be worse off compared to before his rework and now it’s come true. Maybe Riot will make some changes to his kit sometime in the new year instead of leaving all the Morde fans to wait and suffer.
Misery loves company.
Your sickness sustains me.
Wait you're not malicious metal
Soo... To post Mordekaiser post one has to get the Prophet's blessing first?
If I were to rename myself to Delicious Metal would it suffice?
As much as I love Metal, it's deliciousness lies in the pain you can inflict with it and not its taste D:
Wait you're not malicious metal
Soul Furnace smurf of Malicious Metal confirmed
mordekaiser imo is a great champ potentially. the problem is. he has no mobility. and okay. but hes not tanky until you get a bunch of items. his shield goes away so fast and is really really bad compared shields like malphites or the mana shield of blitzcrank or tahm kench. hell even yasuo. yasuo gets upto over 400 damage absorbtion. morde gets 15% of his max health . and it decays too quickly. his ultimate. is just hard. am not saying its hard to control the dragon. or get it to work. but its hard to find the right time to find use for it. his q is all he has really. his W doesn't make any sense to me. and his E. well. it doesn't make any sense to me either. where did they come with these abilities? just give him some tanky stuff or make these abilities better.
i mean in league tanks still die pretty quick late game and morde is one of the most immobile champions in the game. and hes supposed to be an APC? LOL.
i don't get morde design. hes literally worsely designed. if thats a word. than sion.
they should just morph him into a top lane tank/fighter. or just make him REALLY TANKY.
he needs a new ult btw.
Yeah, Morde has a lot of potential that just waits to be tapped
Considering Leoric of Hots is the healthier Iteration of Morde shows it can be done just Riot needs to really buckle down and not let CertenlyT do it
Nerfing him to make him viable in the solo lane is what is killing him. He's an adc now. Focus on making him a carry, with real strengths that aren't just cheesey bonus xp.
I for one found it immensely satisfying to flatten Vaynes and Jinxes with 1000 damage Qs
Quite the contrary, trying to make him a "balanced" bot laner is killing him since he has to be overpowered to function bot.
Well, that doesn't need to be the case. If melee champs can fight ranged champs toplane (and you can't deny there are plenty of interesting match-up like that), why a melee carry+support couldn't fight a ranged carry+support botlane, all the while being really balanced?
If Vayne, Quinn, Graves can all function in both solo and duo lanes, why Morde couldn't?
There certainly need to be more work for solo Morde to be viable, and I appreciate your lobbying in that direction. But I can't see why he couldn't also be viable as a pick for duo-lane. (And honestly, I think solo Morde just need a useful W when he is alone. Apart from that, he is not so horrible right now.)
Two ranged people poking you is a lot more of an issue than one.
Got to say though I had an awesome laning as Morde with a Nautilus supp (who knew what he was doing) against Quinn & Sona. All Quinn's ultimate did was to make me fed faster xD
My only problem is that Morde was the wrong choice in my opinion. Plenty of champions could fight ranged carries in a way that was much more healthy, but they chose Mordekaiser.. a champion who really doesn't have a toolkit that wants to have to go up against two people harassing him from a range or kiting them so he can't do anything or be useful. To allow Morde to fight them, they had to give him gimmicky, over-the-top tools to let him compete when other champions probably would not have needed to go that far to be healthy competition.
Never say or think those thoughts ever again.
Every champion should be solo lane viable, without exception.
Sure, you mean, like Soraka, Jana, Fidlestick, Warwick, Leona, Alistar ?
I disagree with LadyRenly, Morde should be viable solo. But saying that absolutely every champion should? That's stupid, and you can't reply to stupidity with even more stupidity, it doesn't end well.

Since when is Warwick not viable solo?
I disagree with LadyRenly, Morde should be viable solo. But saying that absolutely every champion should? That's stupid, and you can't reply to stupidity with even more stupidity, it doesn't end well.
Why is that stupid?
The few Warwick top I've seen never managed to do well, but maybe... Still, you don't deny the others in my exemples are not viable solo.
And it's stupid, because you really think a champ like Soraka, whose primary focus is "healing others" should be viable in a solo lane, and you think that it is feasible for her to be viable solo without being completely broken in duo? You think a champ like Jana or Alistar, full of CC but without damage to follow, should be viable in solo?
I say, if you make these champs viable for solo lane, you will break them, and we don't need them to be viable solo, what would it bring to the game?
The few Warwick top I've seen never managed to do well, but maybe... Still, you don't deny the others in my exemples are not viable solo.
Well, Leona top/jungle can work depending on the lane matchup, and Fiddlesticks AD can solo okay, but I do agree the others have some serious trouble at it.
And it's stupid, because you really think a champ like Soraka, whose primary focus is "healing others" should be viable in a solo lane,
Yes. Clerics in many games have the main focus of being healers but can also be tanks or damage dealers.
Just because someone is a healer does not mean they should not be able to be self sufficient.
you think that it is feasible for her to be viable solo without being completely broken in duo?
Yes. Pre-rework Soraka was pretty strong in a solo lane, but just okay in a duo lane.
You think a champ like Jana or Alistar, full of CC but without damage to follow, should be viable in solo?
Yes.
I say, if you make these champs viable for solo lane, you will break them,
I disagree. Lulu is played in top lane, mid lane, and support, the game has not exploded yet.
Morgana, Velkoz, and Annie are all played as supports yet are also solo lane champs and they don't break the game or duo lane matchups.
and we don't need them to be viable solo
We don't need anything to be anything, that has no bearing on what should or shouldn't be.
what would it bring to the game?
More variance in lane matchups. Possible meta shifts due to the newly found viability of some champions. The ability to play whatever champion you want wherever you want.
The murderous rampage of Janna Windforce? Fun?
I phrased my initial post too strongly. Of course it would bring more variance, etc. And I'd love that. Of course, it is theoretically possible to balance champs such as Jana or Soraka to be fair in both solo and duo lanes. But... it will be pretty hard to do so, it will cost lots of resources, for a rather small benefit, and these resources would be better spent on some other more urgent topics. (Because let's be honest, even if they are viable, they'll stay niche/situational picks.)
Certain champs are heavily locked into a role: Azir mid, Draven adc, Soraka sup, Amumu jungle... It's true for every position, it's not only a separation between solo/duo. And that's not a problem as long as some champs are not locked the same way. Tahm or Kennen can be played viably on 3 different lanes, and that's cool. But the game LoL doesn't need that to be true for every one of the 125+ champs, for it being a good game. And you don't see a thread about how Soraka should be viable top every other day.
What set Mordekaiser apart is that, he is an archetype of a category that is played in solo lane and, at the same time, he is the only one of this category that cannot (efficiently) be played in solo lane. And he was a solo-laner pre-rework. And (from where I stand), there seem to be easy ways to push his viability for solo-lane without breaking him for duo-lane. That's a lot of reasons for Mordekaiser to join Tahm and Kennen.
But don't say that every one of the 125+ champs should join Tahm and Kennen. I strongly disagree with that.

It's no problem. People tend to get very heated and emotional on internet posts, even I am guilty of this from time to time.

This is a fair rationale; if champions are usable in a single role, the cost/benefit ratio may not be worth changing them just to solofy them.
But it is very different and frustrating when they take a champion that can do multiple roles and pigeonhole them into a single role.
Much like the Soraka rework.
And you don't see a thread about how Soraka should be viable top every other day.
As a general rule I've noticed that most people really seem to hate reliable champions. I have no good reason for why that is other than this weird sense of unfairness that people have when they can't "outplay" something. Everyone seems to want to be able to dodge and counter everything in the game and kill everyone, yet they're also frustrated by champions who have a strong amount of outplay potential themselves.
Soraka pre-rework had all targeted abilities: because of this, people have bad memories of Soraka pre-rework and in general will associate any solo lane power on her as a reversion to that state and knee jerk downvote/bash it right out of hand.

Well, I'm someone who is very attracted to champions based on there theme more so than their individual mechanics, and as a general rule I don't like being dependent on other people to do things that need to be done; so I can definitely be accused of having a preferential bias towards champs I just want to play because I think they are cool.
Like Leona, I just wanna be able to play a sword n board warrior and fight guys in a lane - but much of her power is locked away for duo lane (in her passive).
Theres a lot of reasons why morde is bad right now, at this point why does he even have health costs when his base stats are so bad
Because it fits him thematically and serves as a way to gate him early on.
Still, 72 health for a max rank E while only having 1700 base health sucks... >_>
I agree, the power on e should be buffed as long as his base stats are so low.
Personally, I'm okay with the bad movespeed and can TOLERATE the bad base health, as the shield is almost like an extention of your health. It provides counterplay, but his damages should be thru the roof with how low it is. All for e buffff
I think they should nerf health gained on drag ghost and add to his base health tho
I'm assuming that his base health is so bad because getting dragon ghost is essentially a free Warmog's. Also, as Mord you get a stat boost when you have a ghost. Reason 3 is an excuse to have highhhhh damage.
They had a dev corner hovering around the forums about him and there plans for him and what they think works and doesn't work.
Unfortunally that devblog didn't say anything new from when they presented his rework first time.
It IS possible there wasn't anything new to present, but I don't think that was the case, they listed what they want out of him for the future with somewhat detailed ideas for the direction of his Q and his W and making his Dragon less of a stomp early and more useful late.
Well, not saying anything new after continually nerfing his exp bonus and damage shows a lack of design solidity imo. They should know what works and what not and give more precise indications, expecially when there is going to be a christmas brake.
Oh no! Morde not being viable for once. He needs buffs immedately because he got dank memes revolving around him.
FOR ONCE?!
Morde has always been a sub par pick ever since they nerfed him in season two.(The biggest nerf was the removal of his Cod spike T_T )
Besides, every damn champ deserves to be viable.
RIP Force of Nature
Damn TwT Why, why did Riot have to remove it
It was abusive when comboed with Savage Roar.

Well, they managed to made him broken pick... Also that new Morde wasn't Morde, just another champion that had similar name /s
Let's call it... the Karma Syndrome.
Oh no! Morde not being viable for once.
Times when Morde has been viable: | ⬛⬛ | 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016
Definitely he has been viable forever.

Your 'viable period' is about twice as long as it should be, to scale.
