What makes or breaks a midlaner?

So recently, I played against a Leona mid and even though it was funny, our team stomped all over the enemy. That being said, it got me thinking of why Leona mid isn't viable and I drew a blank.

What do u guys think make a good midlaner? pls help meh by commenting answers below

Not feeding in lane and being useful to the team.

That's not my point, a Leona doesnt feed in lane if careful and offers tons of cc is an excellent frontline. But for some reason she isn't good in midlane and i'm asking what about Leona prevents her from being a good midlaner ect...

I love pushing the meta, mid is my favorite to play non-meta champs at. If you are going to play an odd mid, like leo, you have to make sure you are against a mid that you can beat, probably not a ranged mage, but might be good vs a melee champ. Basically learn your champs weaknesses and strengths, then use it to counter pick

To answer your question It's having a balanced medium between Poke and Sustain. Mana plays a role obviously but it's secondary to those 2

Leona has no escape, no waveclear, no burst damage, no sustained damage. There, I gave you 4 reasons why she sucks as a midlaner. CC is fine, but that alone can't win you the midlane.
