Play Whatever the Hell You Want!
I tend to do better with none meta picks than meta picks. When Caitlyn was meta, I couldn't get past a 47% winrate last season, so of course everyone would assume "You're just trash with her, how could you not get that OP shit to work?" This season now that she's way worse, 60% winrate. Now I have like a 30% winrate on Tristana who's meta as fuck. Why? Because I roll shit teams everytime I play her, and great teams everytime I play Caitlyn.
Your performance only means so much the way the game is now, you will only solo carry (as in you got your kills all by yourself, not from other people like a jungler or sup) ever so often, so whether you win or not comes down to your team more often than your own play most of the time.
Moral of the Story, play what you WANT! Don't be a meta slave, as long as the champ isn't 
tier and is only 1 to 2% from 50%, it's only a couple of percentage points and that 1.5% doesn't mean shit when your JG is 25% worse than the enemy's, so go play whatever the HELL you WANT!
