I strongly doubt support income is going to change that much

I peaked gold 4 last season. I'm just putting it out there because you're going to OP.gg and flame me anyway.

The current support item changes make it so that you can't get any gold from your support item unless an ally is in a 1500 ish range (i don't know the specifics because I've been taking a short break from the game due to stress related to the tournament i'm in). At first glance this sounds terrible, but it's not. It's really not.

  1. You're in a 2v2 lane. An ally is going to be next to you for the majority of the game.

  2. If you're off clearing side waves, you're going to get the gold from last hitting anyways. If you can't last hit...idk what to tell you.

  3. If your laner is so bad that they are never in lane, chances are you're going to be last hitting and getting the gold from the minions anyway. The "last hitting minions denies stacks" passive has been in the game for what, years now? This change isn't going to ruin everything.

  4. Later into the game you'll just need to be near someone to be able to proc the gold gen passive. Relic users already deal with this issue and don't experience massive gold losses, despite the fact that proccing relic is harder than standing near dying minions.

  5. How often are you proccing spelthief's in a 1v1 scenario? Probably not often enough for it to be a big deal. If you are, in what world are enemy champions letting you 1v1 them and not punishing you for it?

Anyone who is complaining about this is greatly exaggerating the issue and not thinking about it critically whatsoever.

#That being said

If it doesn't get you gold, it shouldn't consume stacks.

also: fuck the bounty system.

I'm loving the +10% per proc compensation.

The punishment for last hitting was stupid, to begin with. It was the prior attempt to stop solo laners from buying support items and riot in their infinite wisdom decided to keep it in just so supports are doubly fucked.

It also proves the point that supports have to endure wave after wave of nerfs, forcing them ever so slightly into one-dimensional gameplay and build paths, because of riot´s ineptitude to solve simple problems like these.

And relic is well known for being the most infuriating support item to use since no one will let proc your stacks past laning phase. Glad that instead of fixing relic riot just brought the other two down to its level.

5 . All the time,

What do you think, how often you are on your own when roaming as Bard? You run into enemies all the time.

And that is all besides the fact this is an unwarranted nerf to supports in general. At best it´s a minor nerf and a tiny buff for a very short timeframe in a very specific scenario ( a laning phase in which no one ever dies ) and at worst it´s a nerf across the board and especially in the late game.

can´t wait to find out how much gold we lost, because someone else abused our item.

I also can´t wait to see what the next inevitable wave of nerfs has in store for us next in about half a year from now.

The changes could be a buff for all I care and it would still leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Part of the fun of roaming or being isolated in general as a Spellthief support was using those Tribute stacks on anyone we met. Often that would be when warding, removing wards or just trying to scare so enemy off a lane. It would happen quite a bit, but really it was somewhat pointless as far as poking goes : Most enemy champions either have the bulk and/or sustain to brush our actions right off. That's where tribute came in, giving us a reason and reward for taking the risk and time.

This change really is simply another slap in the face of "you're not allowed to be a champion without a team member". Now interacting with the enemy in those scenario is either useless or suicide. If my team isn't there, then I should just stand back and look pretty.

And the damage was quite good in 1v1, especially in those early roams where you might harass the enemy jungler : Spellthief being 39 magic damage, Frostfang 54. That's a pretty big chunk especially on a role with no consistent dps to speak off.
