I can't understand why people hate facing Thresh

SwapShadows··2 votes·795 views

because most other supports are stupidly easy to play while being seriously cancer and rewarding for how braindead they are to play Janna Alistar Blitzcrank Soraka Braum Leona (etc)

The only other support that I feel is fair due to actually being difficult and not "hur dur i pressed 2 buttons and now im super relevant" is Bard

any competent player would rather go up against a thresh/bard rather than a janna/blitz/ali

I think people dislike how many games he is in and some have to go against him wayyy to often. It would be a tad boring facing the same champion over and over again. Not only that, but people just don't like how his kit can have so much utility on one champ. I have no qualms with him though.

tl:dr :I don't think people hate straight up going against him, but rather what he can do and how often he pops up

idk about thresh being in every game

most people opt to playing other supports due to them being way easier to play

Yeah, yeah. I know what you mean.

I just notice that quite a few people on the boards talk about having to go up against him often.

oh, that.

that's the boards exaggerating, the same ones that claim "yasuo is in every game" while having maybe 1 game per week on their history and no signs of any yasuos in their games. People lie to try and fish upvotes, pretty scummy.

Most people? There are dozen of statistics out there that support the claim that Thresh is the most played support in League. It's probably not "every game" but more like 1 out of 5 (20% Bronze, 37% Plat+ , 32% Average all Ranks all Regions). So in every ten games, you're likely to face Thresh 2 or 3 times while every other support once or not at all.

He's the most played support. He's picked in about a third of all games, and at most skill levels he has more than twice the pickrate of the next highest support. People are opting to pick him 2-5 times as much as the supports you mentioned. He's literally the second most played champion in the game. That's just a matter of fact, and it something that can be annoying because you see him all the time.

He's not that hard either. I play him. It's really not that difficult. There's a lot of room to make really flashy plays, but he's perfectly functional even if you're bad at him. If that's your only reason for liking to play against him.... well, I just don't see it.

I'd have considered the opinion meaningful if you didn't include Blitz in your list above...

In lane, Thresh and Blitz are almost the same gimmick - land your hook/grab and blow up the enemy adc. Except, blitz is basically useless without his grab (unless his silence becomes really valuable) while thresh still has ranged autos to harass, has a lantern to save people or bring in a gank, and has a strong ultimate.

Thresh has a high skill ceiling, sure. His skill floor is incredibly low as well though. Even a new Thresh player can get lucky on 10% of hooks, follow it up and press E-R. Even a new Thresh player can throw a lantern over a wall to a trapped ally.

I'd be perfectly happy if any and all thresh nerfs were directed at raising his skill floor / making him less useful and weaker if he is misplayed (wastes hooks, etc...) and leaving his potential where it is for when played properly.

Well simple, it has the kit of a lot of different supports wrapped into one. He has the hook threat like blitz(and blitz hook is his main gimick), he has the ability and shield and save anyone with his lantern, his ultimate is great for saving people and preventing people from getting away, not to mention his poke range with all that utility, and he typically builds tanky on top of all of that.

Why i prefer laning against Janna over Thresh ? While her tonados are annoying and her shield can help her adc, i do not have to worry about her having a strong engage if she lands a skillshot nor can she zone you out like thresh's hook can. Not to mention Thresh has the same saving power as janna because of his lantern.

Why i prefer laning against Alistar over Thresh ? While tanking and having his knockup combo, that is really his only gimmick and if thresh misses his hook he still has a ton in his kit going for him.

Why i prefer laning against Blitzcrank over Thresh ? Blitz major mechanic in lane is his hook in which if he misses it you can punish him and his adc. If you try to do the same to thresh he will just you (longer range then blitz knockup btw) and in some cases even ult and turn the tides for his adc to punish or kill you.

Why i prefer to lane against Soraka over Thresh ? Should be self explanatory, she is mostly a poke/sustain support who is not only squishy but at least gives you the option to play passive(not that you have to). Thresh on the other-hand, he can catch you rather you are passive or aggro not to mention everything else i already mentioned

I could go on but at this point i think you should get some type of picture in your head as to why people hate thresh. Hell simply because he exist, he reduced the viability of some supports.

but Blitzcrank still has his damn ult, almost as bad his damn q

Also when Thesh hooks you it's like "oh! ups. mmh, yeah well ..."

When Blitz finally hits you after missing ten times it's like "oh! shit! oh shit! oh Shit! no! no! NO!!! ... Dead!"

I agree that Thresh is harder to master than most supports. However, once someone gets him down, he is an absolute terror to face due to the low counterplay against him. Even if the player is just decent, Thresh is still a pain.

inc janna mains

None of them are hard to fight... janna? you can see the tornados forming, Soraka she has no moree health shes a free kill, Blitz dodge the grab and ur good same with thresh, Ali annoyingly tanky but grab a BOTRK and ur good, braum get behind him when he sields and hes useless for a few seconds, Leona, while shes tricky she has almost no dmg late game and is virtually useless then so just hold out and dodge her pull the only hard support id say is Annie because, does she have stun upp? do you have less than 2000 health? ur dead bye bye

because everything you said is offensive to anyone with sub par game knowledge and above.

The problem isn't his laning phase. Hooks win games. In lane it's annoying, but it's even more frustrating to watch your teammates get hooked over and over and aced because they don't respect the thresh. He's strong at all points in the game and he has a ton of outplay potential.

Terozu1 votes

Fun fact if u click rapidly in the opposit direction ur being hooked than he has to either let u go or come to u

thresh is definitely one of the more fair supports when considering how bullshit the other supports were during their prime

i swear a lot of these people who hate facing thresh just want their braindead sona back on the totem
