Syndra with Tear of the Goddess

Okay, so courtesy of a Syndra guide made by a player by the name "DJ Chrispy" I decided to build item 3070 on Syndra... And honestly, I think it's a better item on her than Morellonomicon or Athene's are. It definitely at least felt rushing item 3070 into item 3003 added more damage than Morello's and Athene's would. And the mana sustain on Tear isn't bad either. Syndra has mana problems to be sure, but Tear solved them just as well as a chalice would overall. Of course tear doesn't have chalice's mana regen passive but the base mana sustained me for quite some time, maybe moreso.

The big tradeoff would be the CDR loss. item 3070item 3040 don't have CDR like item 3174 item 3165 do. But, the only big problem I found with the loss of CDR was setting up ults was a little trickier, and while CDR is nice, Syndra's a burst mage. She kills her target in one rotation or she doesn't. The only spell she can even hit twice would be her Q.

Yeah tear is a decent choice because of her mana costs. The problem though is the lack of effective cdr itemization outside of athenes/morello which means cdr runes are your best solution to remedy this (i prefer 30% scaling). The other thing is that you're probably not getting many more mana items on her. A good plus side is that the mastery that restores 1.5% missing mana becomes much more effective with more maximum mana. I think that, becuase you won't be stacking tons of mana on syndra, that going for a rod of ages might be the superior choice because you will still get tons of mana along with health to keep you alive. Also the sustain from catalyst is really good, especially in lane. You can get both roa and archangels but you will not have a mid game at all and that amount of mana is really excessive and unnecessary.

I once got so fed up with Syndra's mana problems that I bought Morello's, Athene's, AND Tear.
