What is the current stance/thought on Soraka? @Riot, @Meddler, @Ricklessabandon, @RiotReptertoir
So Soraka got some big changes in 6.5. Initially, the idea was to make her more interactive and engaging, while also making her more vulnerable. Her win rate went up by about 1.5% however, and she's starting to see bans more frequently than ever. Was the goal here missed, or is Riot satisfied with where Soraka landed?
I main Soraka, literally over 1k games with her last season ( Ranked and normals ), and as much as possible this season considering her constant bans. She was my very first buy in 2010, and my top 3 picks every season since. I feel like the changes were great, but the movement speed buff on Starcall was too much, especially when you take into consideration that Starcall slows at all times now. Soraka definitely has to interact with the enemy team a little more, to get out more healing as it is weaker upfront. But when she lands Starcall, she's encouraged to stop interacting with the enemy by slowing them and running away with her 15% movement speed. I feel the changes make her heal less frustrating, but they also made her more frustrating in general.
Sustaining is a little bit harder now, as it should be, but I feel like your goal to make Soraka more interactive/engaging didn't happen. Soraka is still required to Starcall, as she was previously, but now she's encouraged to get the hell out of there and laugh at her slowed enemies as she runs off with high movement speed.
I love Soraka, I love playing Soraka, but I think you guys missed the mark here and made her too frustrating to play against, more than previously. What are your thoughts on Soraka at the moment? If anything, I think the 15% movement speed needs to be removed, or scale with rank. I still honestly prefer 60 mana +10% ap over its duration, but only because I still miss Infuse to this day.
