How to correctly interpret league statistical data
winrate is going to be last as it take into account many other factors
"Banrate" banrate is very clearly how often a champsion is banned. this is an indication of how much a player and therefore the community doesn't want to deal with that POS this can be because a champion is toxic to face, because a champion is OP/broken, or it could just because even after a nerf people don't tend to drop banning them very quickly. even if a champion is toxic to face it may have a low banrate if it is rarely picked and players want to ban a champion that will more likely get picked so as not to waste their ban.. even if they would rather face said champion than the one they didn't ban it is also generally high after a new champs release because no one wants someone who cant play their champ on their team
"pick rate/ playrate/popularity " pick rate is how many players want to play the champ this is generally VERY high upon a new champ release as players want to try it out. this can also be an indicator of how fun a champsion is or how "OP" it is if people want free elo
Finally lets have a look at "Winrate" this is the best overall indicator of a champions health, but by itself can be very misleading. win-rate is how often said champion wins games. however there are many things to take into account a high pick rate and a high winrate is a much worse senario than a high winrate and a low pick rate, as it would mean people people who cant play the champion propely have doing very well on it which very clearly indicated said champsion is too strong. even if they winrate look like it might be balanced.
likewise a lower winrate but a higher player right might not mean there is any issue at all because it mean players are still learning them (these two scenarios are common upon champion release)
if a champsion has a high winrate and high banrate it likely also means said champion is too strong
where as if said champsion has a high banrate but still a low or even balanced winrate, that normally indicates no one wants to deal with it regardless of how strong a champion is to face, and is a good indicator of a toxic champion.
finally we need to look at differences between elos
generally if any champsion has a greater than 5% difference between bronze- diamond there is a big issue
if a champsion has a 46% winrate in every sub diamond but a 2%+ winrate in diamond.. it means said champion needs an asburd about of skill or VERY good teammwork and corrdication to work well, but when they do they can be very strong
good examples of this in the past (or present) were/are

this is a bad design
on the flip side beginner friendly champions like
may havea very high winrate in lower elo to plat, but lityerally cannot be buffed in any sort of way regardless of thier winrate in diamond becuase it would make the amount of skill required to defeat said champion astronomically higher than the skill it takes to PLAY said champion.
all of these needs to be taken into account when buffing/ nerfing a champion..
for example.. if champsion has a 44% winrate until gold and a 46% in plat
but in diamond plus is at like 52%.
a "flat buff" may not fix said champsion wihout breaking them in higher elo. (not that that would be THAT bad a thing, as pro players are pretty much forced to pick between 30 meta picks anyways and the other 99.998% of people shouldn't have to deal with an unplayable champsion becuase it would "break pro play"
however the ideal solution would be to come up with a way to make said champion easier to play and easier to deal with
on the other side.. (and sadly i have been seeing this a LOT lately)
if you have a beginner friendly champion such as
like i started eariler. buffing him would be a horrendously stupid idea becuase it would break him for 98% of player.
and a as BEGINNER FRIENDLY champion he also needs to be beginner friendly to FACE, therefore of a champsion has a decent winrate across all elos plat and below.. they should NOT be touched
other champions even if balanced in every elo except diamond + could be pick and banned in pro play becuase of the nature of how said champion works the most obvious is my main nidalee, whom in season 6 despite having a perfectly balanced winrate in every elo below diamond at 48-50%
became impossible to deal with in pro play for the simple reason that ALL of her counterplay can be effectively negated by teamwork
(and i know u all saw this coming) nidalee spear is long range but as she has no form of cc is very hard to land.. yet when you have the best player in the world at 4 ms ping and voice chat who constantly play and work together.
the chances of the enemy not being CCed to guarantee the spear lands... is next to zero. therefore that counter-play of dodging said skillshot goes out the window
at te same time... anothetr thing i deal with in lower elo is nidalee flat out can do NOTHING if the enemy is grouped unless she has her team to support her. as it donest matter if u have 20 kills, you cant pounce into a 1v5 even to save a turret without being dead before u land. yet in pro play this wont ever happen.
i use her as an example becuase not only am i extremely familar with her and her situation, but becuase she is the perfect example
when riot tried to make it so she wasn't pick and banned in pro play the balanced her as if the spear was GUARENTEED to land (like it is in pro play) however when you NOT in pro play.. the spear ISN'T guarenteed to land.. and her winrate dropped to 38% tying for the lowest winrate in a main role in the HISTORY of league.
it took her over a year to get back to where she is now.. but even now she is kept purposly "barely viable" for the sole reason of pro play. becuase when all of a champions counterplay goes to zero when u have 4 ms ping and voice chat. in order for them to be balanced in normal play they HAVE to be completely broken in pro play, there is no real getting around this, unless you change said champion's kit to make it so their counterplay is different
now this thread is not about nidalee.. is an informative thread because i am tried of people going " my champ is the easiest beginner fredinly champ in the game and in perfectly balance and almost op in every elo below diamond.. but in diamond + its not very good so it needs buffs that would completely break the fuck out of it in every elo."
