why is it that they pbe cant balance the most brain dead champions like malz and skarner?
makes 0 sense that these are the two types of champions that come out of the pbe in roflstommp states.

The PBE isn't for balance -- it's mainly for large scale bugs
not according to repertoire.
Could you provide a source for that?
yes. i can. do i really need to tho?

alright. ill go look, but ill go ahead and admit it possible that i misinterpreted it
I think this is the thread that includes the comment. This is the wording:
"Good post, and yeah, ideally this is more of what PBE is for. It can be hard though, because history has given players the expectation that what they see is basically final."
In context, its a reply to a statement that the pbe is for experimentation. I assumed that they meant experimentation with balance.

its possible i misinterpreted. Idk
Trust me if pbe were for bugs, Release syndra, azir and I think yasuo(?) the three buggiest champ releases wouldn't have happened. And to this day azir still has bugs.
I'm Not so sure if the 3rd was yasuo can't remember who was the third buggiest release mighta been yasuo/diana but I literally can't remember.
They can't catch every bug (particularly ones that require a very specific circumstance to happen), and also bugs can be introduced when they move the code to live (It's rare, but still possible). PBE still does catch a large majority of bugs before people on the live servers even know they happened
Hmm probably.
The thing is, pbe player dont care, they just want to play the new stuff, nothing else
on the pbe malz was look at as the weakist of all the mages
because people started figuring out how to play against him fact of the matter is, if you kill the first minion malzahar does no damage at all anymore QSS is also better against him now than it has ever been since the suppress doesn't do any damage on its own - just the field it holds you under finally, and most importantly - malzahar shits on the current meta as a rule he's virulently anti-assassin - zed and fizz are hard countered by him but take someone like ori against him and it's a free lane
I remember people telling me Graves was permaban on PBE before preseason rolled live. They were complaining and actually asking to nerf Graves there, but Rito didn't really listen to them.
Until it was too late...
So in the end, it's not that you can't trust them, it's that Rito doesn't even listen to them.

Oh boy, I love a good anti-rito circlejerk by the same losers who still play the game, but Skarner and Rengar were buffed on PBE due to "community feedback" and were broken subsequently after. Oh, and Garen.
Besides, PBE is full of retards who have no clue how to play the game for the most part, why even bothering listening to their feedback?
Also you know those times when such players created environments where people can't really test the things needed? Yeah. Talk about people Q'ing up when URF was out on PBE and Q times for non-URF modes are so long that it's not a surprise that there's nothing to test in the end.
We could go on, but it goes both ways.
Not really advocating for pro- or anti- Rito, but there's always plenty of storytime to go around.

So if it goes both ways, why do your comment lean towards "durr Riot never listens"
It's not like the forums needs more of this drivel seeing any little thing will set them off.
Because the original post was just ONE example of why things don't change due to the PBE that came off from the top of my head, and that I was trying to give A possible explanation to OP's question.
Of course, you are always free to bring up more examples, because I'm pretty sure there's more than that.
its funny how half the ppl tell me pbe is for bugs only. The other half tell me about the time where they "balanced" skarner due to pbe feedback. Well which is it? They balance, but not if you complain about the balance they achieve?
We must have a very different memory, because I remember people either saying the rework was amazing, or that the new Graves was going to suck because of his reload and low range.
trust doesnt have anything to do with being right that one time about graves. trust is about consistency, which is why people dont trust riot. they dont treat champs consistently. they DO have favorites and they DO have whipping boys.
Because the PBE's primary purpose is bug testing.

I will be blatently honest, a lot of pbe players are flat out AWFUL. I will never take a live game feeder over some of the people I see in normal pbe... It makes my skin crawl... The problem is there is feedback, but large amounts have to be sifted into useful, and useless feedback. What experience do they actually have? Like the current taliyah one, they specifically ask for positives and negatives, yet everyone gives solutions to a problem.
People mess around on pbe a lot. You will have games with 5 mages on one team and other has 4 mages with a random other champ. Not exactly easy to balance around team comps like that.
Looks like some body lost to Malz and Skarner
Balance decisions can be made much more easily after a day on Live than they can after a week of PBE testing. The PBE largely serves to sort out the game-breaking bugs so that the player experience stays stable once things hit Live.
and that would be why its a good idea to improve the pbe...to make it more possible to balance.
Improve? The reason Live is so much faster at determining balance is the sheer size of the population on the Live servers compared to the PBE. It's not possible for a portion of the player-base to demonstrate game balance problems faster than the entirety of the Live servers.
You can filter the PBE players so that only the most dedicated testers are allowed in, but they simply can't put in the hours in a month that the rest of the player-base does in a day.
Patch cycles are months long...as long as the proportion isnt 100 to 1 then theres a lot of time for it.
Patch cycles are approximately 2 weeks. Live will experience all of the content that PBE sees during that whole cycle in less than half a day. It's not possible to do proper balance work on every facet of the game before any of it goes live.
Maybe they should be disabled in ranked for a week and do the "playtesting" in norms or another type of que.
