Why am I, a Bronze, matched against Diamonds and Grandmasters??

That shouldn't happen. It doesn't matter that it's normals, that shouldn't happen. Literally no good comes of it. The enemy team gets a free win because the matchmaking system forces me to be dead weight for my team. And no, to those who say "playing against better players is the only way to improve", you don't learn anything except for that anywhere outside the fountain is danger until 25 minutes onward where even in the fountain you're in danger. This only applies for a certain range.

Why is this still a thing?

Also cuz you play on OCE lul. Your server has a population of like a tenth of everywhere else.

Because ranked stats have no influence on normal games, just as normal stats have no influence on ranked games

One reason I don't see any other replies talking about is queueing with friends. In ranked, you cannot queue with someone who is vastly different elo than yourself. In norms you can. That way friends can play together even if they are not of the same level in ranked.

And yeah... You are OCE. If there are only 500 players in your whole region online at any one time, you are going to get matched with people who are different elo.

In NA the bigger problem I see is in a new level 30 account going through placements. On my main account, I am a Bronze support main. Wanting to test my ability in a solo lane, I created another account. Got to level 30 and all my placement games were G3/G4. Needless to say it was not a fun experience. Somehow I was able to avoid just enough slaughtering to get carried in 3 of my placement games. So they put me in B-1. I figure I am about to start playing vs people more my elo? Nope. Still G3/G4/S1. Still getting slaughtered. Real demoralizing. Wish that at the end of placements they would put my mmr at my assigned rank and force me to climb if I was in fact deserving of such.

the game has to be as annoying and buggy as possible. riot does not want you to enjoy the game anymore.

i honestly dont get the point of normals anyways. like for real lol. even as a plat player, im so sick of being matched vs high dia and higher enemys. might aswell play flexq. most ppl have the same attitude there (not real ranked so who cares) and ppl tend to be very close to their soloq mmr.

What Elo you are does not impact MMR... yours Might be Higher then the equivalent Elo.. Or those other people could have Low MMR's ..

Basically it is two different systems at play

I strongly disagree with you and how you view normal games. Normal games are meant to be more relaxed, a bit more chaotic and a lot more light-hearted.

WHY are you even looking up the ranks of your opponents in normals? You're playing normals to have fun and/or learn right? WHO CARES WHAT RANKS THEY ARE. If you cared so much about having an level playing field or cared so much about ranks... guess what, you're better suited to play RANKED.

Like seriously, take a step back and a minute to think. Was that game ENTIRELY useless? Did you not get ANYTHING out of it? If all you want to do is stomp on noobs, then maybe getting better and then making a whole bunch of smurf accounts is what you need to do.

I don't enjoy the game as much now but back in s5/s6 when I spammed normals playing pre-reworked Aatrox, man playing against diamond+ players was the most fun and challenging experience that existed back then.

It happens on N.A too. My 1/4/0 Sylas match was because me, a premade of two, and two randos were matched up against a full 5-man with the same clan tag. At this point, just play Flex if you want to screw around. Draft is bleeding players for a reason.

the real reason for this happening on ANY game is low Q times.

I won't say it's the ONLY way to improve, but it IS a way to improve. I for one, being a hardstuck silver player, LOVE playing against high ranks... It both gives me the chance to dominate them and prove that I'm too good to be in silver, and it's a learning experience.

I once played nidalee and outdamaged a diamond 4 ryze player, I came first in damage in that match and carried my team to victory against the ryze... it felt great other than the fact that I'm silver rank and just walked all over a diamond player who was playing one of the most busted champs in game, BUT i'm still just some no skilled low rank player who got no credit for playing way better than the diamond ryze.

Unrakned has NO matchmaking, no matter how much I say it people just say "no it's a diff MMR" I mean you can only get masters and bronze mixed so many times and still believe it's "differnt mmr"

Your problem is because of either you win or lose a NORMAL GAME? If you want to play with players around your skill nivel, have you ever tought that perhaps RANKED GAMES do that for you? By your own words I couldn't then play with any of my friends because of ranked difference, even in normal games. You have to understand normal games has nothing to do with ranked games, and what you're asking for you can get it by simply queue in the right game mode.
