Thoughts on Aatrox

Aatrox has been problematic for a while: his revive passive is potentially OP and impossible to balance, leading to a situation where Riot prefers him to be noticeably UP instead. His mini rework didn't add much, other than making an already quite awkward champion even more clunky to play. Not only is his passive locked behind a stack system - but so is his power, while during teamfights he's usually dead before he can trigger either of those.

Suggestion:

  • Get rid of the revive concept, potentially replace it with damage reduction

  • Change the stack passive to slowly increase his power instead of it being an all-or-nothing mechanic

Example (not final! open to suggestions!):

  • Aatrox gains 5% increased base AD, 6/8/10/12% attackspeed and 2/3/4/5% damage reduction per stack.

  • Once per fight, upon reaching 5 stacks Aatrox reduces the cooldown of his non-ultimate abilities by 6 seconds.

Note that the example is just that an example: more important is the basic idea of giving him power per stack and replacing the revive with damage reduction.

Discuss :)

nice idea, but the roster team is working on a full GU with a new passive and 4 new spells so we wouldn't have that problem anyway :D

He's way healthier now than before rework. Now you can actually wait for his passive to run out to kill him. He also feels WAY better to play since his Q and W don't cost HP anymore and E is a flat 30 at all ranks.
