Ryze was effectively removed from the game in 5.14, can he get some love post 5.18?

I understand why Riot would want to remove the reworked Ryze from the game a la Urgot or Olaf in seasons past as he was suddenly seeing a ton of bans and some play, and albeit his win rate wasn't that stellar he had a really unhealthy kit.

His kit simply isn't in a healthy state right now, and that needs to be addressed before he sees play again, as I adress here.

Gutting him "fixed" the problem by making sure he doesn't see much play, but in-game he's still unfun to play against all while dragging down the rest of his team so they can't have any fun either.

We are nearing the last patch for worlds now; I hope riot decides to work on him now that they can do such without potentially disrupting the pro scene.

Honestly, I think what Ryze needs is a complete relaunch as opposed to a rework. His kit makes him excessively difficult to balance, he's either weak or a complete monster, and there's rarely any inbetween.

They fucked up his Q; By making it a skill shot, all an enemy needs is a wave in between them and ryze to negate his Q (which is his main source of power). If a team is seiging or a wave is between a ryze and an enemy, ryze is fucked.

He is more fucked without his Q because he cant charge any passive stack before team fight

As long as item 3048 and item 3027 are both core items for him, he will never be good unless his laning phase is too good for a hyper scaling mage. This is because not getting those items on time significantly delays a champion's ramp up, and it is a very greedy item path if you do not win lane. Reducing the importants of having both should be the primary focus of any changes to him.

Yea, he honestly doesn't need mana scalings. He needs mana in order to have mana to spam a shit ton of spells really quickly, no need to make it scale their damage too. Still, its been part of his identity forever, so I can see why the are reluctant to remove it.
